Kone deal off looks like, he rejected us like his team mate didn't want relegation fight.

Caulker prob back up now to give us Kirchhoff brown Oshea Kabul and Coates as CB.

I think he wasn't happy with the money offered and we tried to drop the transfer fee but think they didn't want to sell him in the first place by the attitude of lorients chairman? mind Sunderlands transfers are always complex! nothing unusual there! again the Poundland scenario!

2.) 07 Jan 2016 18:38:12
Think prob didn't want to risk his wages being handed next season. Can't imagine us being insulted with fees, but can't blame short for being tight with money making sure it's quality money spent, after £20m on fletch and graham. To note the overpaid players.

3.) 07 Jan 2016 21:45:09
Actually i'd like us to raid some of the promising players in the lower leauges like Watmore! . and we need to blood more from the U21 starting this weekend in the FA cup!

4.) 07 Jan 2016 23:57:35
Right kirchoff signed who next for the lads?

5.) 08 Jan 2016 19:08:12
Looks like we actually pulled out fee agreed but pulled out with Kirchhoff deal going through. Lorient ain't happy with us for it?

06 Jan 2016 13:26:07
Kirchhoff almost a Sunderland player as long a as medical passed and contract agreed.

Can see this being very likely as only played for Bayern a handful of times.

Heard though he maybe likely to get injured a fair amount like Jones did when he first joined.

But £1M bargain but defo need at least a another CB hopefully we can beat Norwich etc. To caulker.

Kone might be unlikely with his team mate rejecting us he might decided to do so for same reasons.

Long term get Matip to join in summer if we stay up.

1.) 06 Jan 2016 15:30:15
Why can't we buy a player that hasn't got an injury problem? . apparently its an Achilles problem which has had surgery and he has had issues since! great! mind if he passes the medical than he must be ok? hope so!

2.) 06 Jan 2016 22:31:50
Just wanted to know if anyone else could possibly arriving apart from kone or caulker?

3.) 07 Jan 2016 12:46:44
BrownCat Matip could be realistically there are our main targets as Matip unlikely to join to summer if at all. There could be some moves being made that are being kept secret from press though.

03 Jan 2016 21:34:14
Jan Kirchhoff (Bayern Munich), Joel Matip (Shalke) and Caulker (QPR loan at Southampton) . Two are more CB to sign with these being main targets and Kirchhoff and Matip being visible with respective clubs looking to avoid them going on bowman in summer.

1.) 04 Jan 2016 12:44:23
Jan kirchoff or kone according to rumours and what I've just heard off ssn but why not both?

3.) 04 Jan 2016 18:07:01
Cos might go for Caulker as second CB if he comes availble. Matip will prob got to Liverpool etc. If they come in but would be a coup if he signs.

{Ed002's Note - The only confirmation I have regarding Caulker is that Norwich are keeping an open mind and have asked to be kept informed whilst Sunderland have looked at him. Crystal Palace were previously interested and I suspect that interest has moved on.

Schalke's Joel Matip has been watched by Sunderland, Marseille, Newcastle and Liverpool but will not be available in January with the club rather letting his contract run down as opposed to having their season disrupted - unless of course someone were to pay way over the odds. Schalke will try and get him to sign a new contract and have already rejected approaches from Liverpool and Sunderland to take him in January. The lady from Marseille tells me that they have stepped back and will not be pursuing their interest any further at this time. Whilst I can't see him as being any more than a Toure replacement at Liverpool, Klopp is very keen and will look to the club negotiating a pre-contract agreement if they are not willing to pay way over the odds now.}

According to ssn we are in for M''Vila, not sure what to think about it. Could be a good deal has potential? 25 not young but not old either.

LA96

1.) 01 Aug 2015 19:43:54
Not sure the thinking behind this unless he is going to play 4-2-3-1 like he has pre season and play him and cattermole as the told holding players.

01 Sep 2014 23:59:40
So the surprise is. . . What gus? Pleasantly surprised by a signing quote. Well then?

LA96

1.) 02 Sep 2014 06:04:07
Transfer windows closed, disappointed again, what will gus say now, most importantly who's going to score goals, miracles don't happen twice

2.) It's frustrating when you see the amount of business clubs like Newcastle, Hull, Stoke, West Ham, QPR and even Crystal Palace and we still don't have the strength in depth in our squad to get us through the season if a couple if injuries occur. We need cover in all positions and it should be competative cover not someone who is willing to sit on the bench, players should be as good if not better than first team players!

3.) 02 Sep 2014 11:05:53
Look at the players little Hull have signed now that is ambition!. that word has disappeared from our club!

4.) Hull signed a 31 year old centre half [we already have two of those], a Uruguayan who played less than one third of Southampton games last season [and started only three YES THREE Premier League games], another Uruguayan who may or may not be a success [DID SUNDERLAND NOT DO THE SAME] a central midfield player from West Ham [ we would have had the same argument if we Sunderland had signed Diame and West Ham Rodwell] and a Newcastle maverick [who personally I think is a good player but no better than Giaccherini]. Now we are hardly talking missing out on Messi, Khedira, Ronaldo and Neymar here are we. Or would you be celebrating the fact we blew a fortune on a moody Carlos Kickaball from Real Deportilona who would be leaving us by January. Get real here!!!

5.) 04 Sep 2014 17:40:51
While I appreciate your sentiments, I don't think anyone would deny that Hull are significantly stronger than last season. And if only we had two 31 year old CBs- actually we have one who is 33 and another who will be 35 next month!
Overall the window was a little disappointing, though we did shed a lot of dead wood, which will be important in that it will increase options in future. At the same time, if we look at who we actually put on the pitch, I don't think Gomez, VA and a 'fit again' Fletcher are as good at present as Alonso, Ki and Borini- though VA at least should improve- so our strongest eleven is weaker than it was. It is hard to be excited about that, however realistic one is.

6.) With respect get your blinkers off and look at the bigger picture. You say the side is significantly weaker without Alonso, Ki and Borini. Alonso was nailed on until Fiorentina kept moving the goalposts regarding the transfer fee. What started at £4 millon then turned into £6. 5. Absoloutly no way is Alonso worth that fee [remember it is OUR money paying for these players]. Looking at Ki do you not agree the great escape happened AFTER he had dropped out of the side? As well as that the £10 million quoted by Swansea for his signature was unrealistic. For Borini there has been a million words written about him and in that respect I cannot add much to what has already been said however six goals in open play from thirty six PL and Capital One Cup games hardly had the blue chip clubs from England and Italy throwing themselves from parachutes into the SOL. So bearing in mind the £30 million in fees plus the combined wage bill would have meant there would have been little [if anything] left in the kitty for additions. So rather than being weaker all in all I feel the squad is STRONGER than the May 31st 2014 squad. One more through the door would have been nice but there are now a couple of places to bring the likes of Gooch and Agnew into the fold.

Coates to sporting?
Would like to see that with clause of sell on fee if he suddenly grows up to potential.

CB
Would love to see someone like Keane (Burnley) or Dunk (Brighton) at 24 young English full of potential and if we don't succeed would be a safe bet for championship to keep us in it.

Wish we'd go for a decent LW and AM and give Borini as back up LW/ st and sell Fletcher to Celtic.

Finally anyone understand how FTM are spending £30m and we've spent £1M Short spend some bloody money will yer mags are making us look like a joke with the signing there bringing at the moment.

Pantilimon to go would rather have him as back up than ma one but hopefully! Might reinvest rather than pocket profits.

Kone CB
Townsend RW/ A winger
Ayew/ Another ST

And
Lens, Fletcher to go to fund some moves along with Graham and other flops.

Naismith to join? Would be good signing for fitting perfectly into team?

Plus does anyone know how Bournemouth are getting and looking at players like iturbe and el sharaaway an we ain't?

LA96

1.) 07 Jan 2016 16:39:13
Level of ambition. They want to push up the league and our board are happy to penny pinch and survive by the skin of out teeth every year. If we stay up we will still be in the same position.

30 Dec 2015 21:48:23
Would quite happily sell Lens to anyone right now and get a decent hard working winger like Townsend.

If we get a decent CB like Kone and attacking midfielder like Naismith hard worker on and off ball and poss a striker who can score more and offload Defoe/ Fletcher and sell flops like Buckley I'll be happy.

This may seem barmy to some people but personally if Alvarez is to be made a Sunderland player through Fifa decision that we have to keep our original agreement with inter. I don't think it would be a bad thing as long as Big Sam can get the best out of him a 4-2-3-1 formation would be a threading midfield with Catt and M'villa sitting in front of back four with Johnson/Borini LW Alvarez AM Lens RW with Defoe/Fletcher ST. In form uninsured he's class player who could trouble teams and bring us something we haven't had since sessengon.
