How did we get a draw there?!?!?!

We were terrible in possession today, excluding the final 10 mins
It was routine, Mannone to one of the centre backs, they look up, no pass on give it back to Mannone, boot it up the pitch they get the ball, they attack, start over

Alvarez looks a sexy player, showed glimpses of real talent, clever tricks, good touches, couple of clever
one-twos, getting his bearings today but I'm excited about him but he needs to track back more. Johnson looked good, seemed to thrive when switching sides. thank god fletcher was dropped and Wickham did very well without troubling the goalkeeper. Giaccherini should start imo looked really bright, will be our playmaker this season, and I wouldn't be surprised if Gomez was given more time in matches, looks cool and composed and slowed us down when he came on. That said for 85% of the game we were very very poor, but getting a 2-2 draw against a very good Tottenham when we play bad must mean good things are around the corner

Agree with this. Especially about Wickham who did much better than Fletcher and Gomez who should start ahead of Larsson. Rodwell and Alvarez will both take time. Giaccarini could be the ace in the pack this year.

Mr. Makem I usually agree with what you have to say, and still do except one part. Wickham was horrible. Every time he had the ball he looked like he had just taken it to the corner. I get so tired of seeing him with the ball directly underneath him struggling to do something with it. Obviously, Fletcher has fallen out of favor with GP, but Wickham should've been substituted before the hour. I thought he would do better once returned to the middle but he didn't look much better than when he's on the left. I seem to be the only one on here in favor of Altidore, but I'm sure he would've done better than CW did today. Giach-o and Alvarez on the pitch at the same time would add creativity that I think we're missing.

Get real people. Whickham should be sold in January. He is a championship player and if you were at the game today you would have seen why. We are woefully weak up front and all our league goals have come from midfield. It is going to be a long trek to January and if anyone thinks not you don't know much about football!!!!!!

Well I was at the game and I disagree

It's hard for a striker when the opposition is basically camped around our box for literally the whole game and you're stood up there on your own with absolutely no support, basically the defence smashed the ball 50 yards up the pitch, you can't exactly expect him to bully/beat 4 defenders, but when he did get the ball he was basically on the half way line on his own, he could either turn and run at them which isn't his style or hold up the ball for like 10 seconds and lay it off, in his defence he did this relatively well but you don't really notice this because once he layed it off our Midfeild would always give up possession or get no where up the pitch, he was that starved of support he often found himself left in a wide position trying to create something and he did ok there as well winning a corner or 2. And that chance at the end that fell to Buckley who got there just before Wickham, if Wickham got his foot on that and buried it everyone would applaud because that basically would've been his only chance in front of goal

So yes, he wasn't too good but it's quite hard to blame him, fletcher wouldn't have put half the shift he put in. It showed that we needed a striker that could run in behind though today the amount of long balls or clearances that went behind the defence and couldn't created something from it

Well your name tells me you don't know much about football either. The fact you throw yourself at the feet of a player whose overall Premiership scoring record is one goal in six and has only scored four goals from open play in this league tells me you are a bit off the pace knowledge wise as well. Wickham has had better games that is for sure but never hid and worked hard all afternoon.

It's not Wickham's work ethic I'm talking about. No doubt about it, he works harder than Fletcher ever thought about on the pitch. It's his lack of creativity, his lack of runs, poor passes. He did great at the end of last term; full credit. Also in preseason; full credit. It wasn't his fault he had to play on the left for the first three matches, either. But yesterday, he was flat. I'm not saying sell him, or get rid of him, I'm just saying he should have been subbed out.
I honestly think they want him to sign a new contract so bad that they will continue to play him regardless of how he's performing. If they don't, they risk driving his market value down. The only way to get him to sign or raise his value is to keep playing him and hope he scores. At this point, not playing him only hurts the club.
