Im not trying to have a twist on but I don't think we should set our hearts on players coming to us until hit happens it will just spare the disapointment if they dont

Lastest link out of Italy is that we are in for Candreva of Lazio. Are we just buying players from Lazio Ed? As we might aswell buy the club as at this rate Lazio won't have any players left. {Ed003's Note -I'm sure you are not buying players just from Lazio.]

Looks like we aren't getting diogo viana he has signed for Vicente

Don't be disappointed mate the media are linking us with that many players its unbelievable if we signed everyone mentioned we will have to get rid of half the players we still have at the club. its just exciting that players are getting mentioned with us and not the skunks up the road.

taken from the telegraph today will we ever know the true wealth of our owner or plans he has for our football club. it does look like we are in the best financial position we could be and that most fans could never have imagined let's hope that mr short has long term plans in place

Sir Allen Stanford hails from the city of Mexia but spent much of the last 30 years reminding the world that he had moved on. Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks, meanwhile, is a public figure in Dallas, lives in the same neighbourhood as George W Bush and is effectively Texan royalty.

Much less is known about a third sporting son of the Lone Star state with English interests. Ellis Short is the principal shareholder in Sunderland football club and the man, according to Roy Keane, now doing the hiring and firing there. Compared to Stanford and Hicks he is invisible.

An intensely private man, Short had hoped to take a controlling stake in Sunderland without any public scrutiny. That plan failed when Telegraph Sport revealed the financier's stake on Wearside last September, but he remains elusive.

He is known to have a significant interest in Kitano Capital, a Dallas-based asset management company, but inquiries at their offices are politely rebuffed, as are calls to his highest-profile UK investment, Skibo Castle.

Security concerns are understood to be the principal reason for Short's reticence, but with fans demanding to know more and the Premier League under Government pressure to improve transparency of ownership, he may not be able to remain entirely under the radar.
