A lot of geordies are quick to recall 5-1. That was in the past. Every time a sgb postes on this page I don't se mackems going 9-1. As that was and the past. Just thought i'd bring that to attention x bg

Geordies, come on, you get more sense from a potted plant. Everyone knows that in football.

The fact is the geordies who come on here talking about the 5-1 game were actually at the match or watched it on TV. The 9-1 result was 108 years ago

We have to remember, history is only valid if it suits the Mags.

From the 5-1 game, nufc still have 10 players from their squad that day at the club now, sunderland still have 4 or 5. that's why the 5-1 is relevant. because its recent!

Read that Don Hutchinson does not rate Cattermole at all, and I totally agree with his opinion. I know he has become popular with Sunderland fans but I see him as a thug and a liability and don't really see what he offers, other than red and yellow cards, and they are certaintees in any game. I don't look upon him as a footballer at all, just someone who will clatter the first player he comes up against. I have posted this to get the forum moving again and look forward to other fans views, even though some will slaughter me, but let's hear your views. Chris-S

True, most teams have someone in midfield who can break up the play and win possession. But that is not Catts- he breaks up play by consistently committing fouls, and rarely wins possession. Nor could he be called a shrewd exponent of the professional foul, as he fouls all over the pitch and often quite unnecessarily, so on balance he gives possession away. If you link that to the fact that he can't pass the ball accurately further than about five yards, can't compete in the air and can't shoot, you do wonder why he ever gets a game. Although you wonder why most of the defence get a game as well. I suppose it is not Catt's fault he is playing at a level he is not up to, it is that pig-headed manager who plays the same ineffective players in the same ineffective formation week in week out.

Geordie here in peace, I work with a couple of sunderland fans and they reckon cattermole is the biggest liability to the team since McShane for stupid fouls etc. One of the lads reckon you would be 3 or 4 points better off without Cattermole because of his reckless playing style. I feel that way about Tiote this season, he has been lacklustre and must be running Cattermole close with stupid fouls and challenges. let's hope boro get their act together so we can have more derbies in the premiership next season.
