Just hope all you mon haters seen what's happen at southampton today watch what happens to them now a draw away to chelsea and sacked shocking yet we expect players and managers to be loyal to our clubs just gos to show what a joke football has become beach volleyball is my new sport have you seen some of the rear ends on these sport star the womens games are good to ha ha these are the sports stars that should be on millions a pound a year

What this demonstrates is that some Chairman won't settle for mediocrity and are willing to speculate in pursuit of excellence. It could be argued that Adkins has actually done rather better than O'Neill, given the resources available and the trajectory of the club, but still he has not met expectations and, perhaps harshly, has been replaced. The lesson here is how fortunate O'Neill is to remain in employment despite the woeful performances of the team- and I stress performances, we have not just been unlucky, we have often been pathetic. On the available evidence, Adkins has a better eye for a player, a better understanding of tactics and a better record of delivering performances from the players available to him than O'Neill. I feel very sorry for him, but it does not make me any happier about the lack of strategy, direction or improvement we have seen since O'Neill arrived. Objectively, O'Neill's performance has been about as good as Cuellar's, and I'm afraid I can't feel relieved that he is still in charge. {Ed024's Note - so who would do a better job than MON ?}

Agree2 Disagree5

Well said mate performances are generally poor with the odd fluke of a win thrown in. Win percentage is awfull mon should be happy he is still in a job although I believe his COACHING STAFF should shoulder a lot of the blame. Guppy been working one on one with mcclean for months now and he still can't cross a ball. Also waldridge has no tactical knowledge what so ever as we have all witnessed with some bizzare substitutions this season

David Copperfield, Penn & Teller paul daniels, or 1 more MON

Do you even like football m8 ?? or is just sunderland you hate ?

Ed thank you for explaing the lack of the Wickham/ Fletcher partnership but why do you think Sunderland are going after Danny Graham a renowned Mag {Ed024's Note - I think MON is bidding for a player he thinks will fit into the team he is building - I dont think he considers the club Graham used to support as an issue. Graham is no idiot - he knows if he comes to Sunderland and doesn't perform his geordie roots will be thrown at him. It's just a question whether he is confident enough in his own ability to put that issue to one side. I'm not sure if he is the striker for Sunderland - but if he does come I would have to respect his bottle.}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Im fed up with so called Sunderland supporters having a go at exMag players or supporting players who play for us... .a few years back..look at Pop Robson and Bob Moncur who were loyal servants to this club despite origionally playing for the Mags ..who cares as long as they wear their heart and soul for Sunderland !..narrow minds I feel !

MON wants Hooper and Flech up front but Hooper won't go for less than 8mill great to see it happen what do you think Ed {Ed024's Note - I think Graham is more likely than Hooper - especially given MON's interview in which he was at pains to point out he thought a player with Newcastle roots could do well for Sunderland.)

im just wondering how we sell a player we bought for nearly 3mill and who warms the bench (not given much of a chance to play bit like meyler to prove themselves after injury) to cardiff for 650k (reported) the same player who after a serious injury came back scored a goal and was then called up to the england squad and we are now going to replace him with another player who has warmed the bench this season for a reported 5mill I just can't see any logic in this cardiff must be laughing their tits off

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Because he is simplynot good enough

Agree2 Disagree1

Difference between not being good enough and not given a chance with campbell. we also had saha a proven scorer everywhere he has been and never gets a start at sunderland with cameo 10 mins here and 10 mins there as substitutes pay a fortune for a young kid who if lucky will ever get a start in premiership bring a player under 20 from korea and expect him to be a big hit straight away how could he with his 5 mins and 10 mins here and there also young talent coming through in the shape of oops wheres he gone ryan noble. so if we are going to pay money to bring in another forward who will sit on the bench for 70 or 80 mins before he comes on I can't see the point why waste 5 mill on graham or 8 on hooper we are paying to much money to watch our club.

Just read that Adkins has been sacked, to me this highlights all that is wrong in English football at the moment. That man has saved Southampton and has been absolutely let down by the men in charge there. Best of luck for the future Nigel. Lm86

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Just been on my tv app he hasn't, just media speculation apparently. Safc93

Agree0 Disagree3

Just as I finished my reply the app updates and says he has been sacked. It's stupidity considering everything he has done for the club. Safc93

Agree2 Disagree0

We should puta cheaky bid in for lambert from southampton better than graham

Agree5 Disagree0

....but not as stupid as we would be to get rid of O'Neill

just seen a tweet posted on fb fletcher will be out for the rest of the season any truth there or just mags playing the fool again {Ed001's Note - that is Darren Fletcher mate.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Hello mate! I know the mighty unclean from up the road usually flap their gums with total trash but Darren Fletcher is having an op on his stomach problem that has been hampering him for ages! Up the Cats!

Yeah very sorry all had posted while reading with my brain disengaged was only when I sent the text I cottoned on still pretty poor taste

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes and Remy will be out for the rest of the season !...for the Mags at least !...wouldnt it be ironic if Remy scored the goal that put Newcastle down on May 12th !

Looks like both Graham and Hooper are set to sign for Norwich, Graham is a big mate of Holt's from thier Carlisle days, and Hooper is out of contract come the summer, I can see a certain manager kicking himself for jumping to soon

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Why would both go to Norwich. They will get one and play him upfront with holt, they won't leave their talisman on the bench. Safc93
