Haven't heard sean Dyche linked with any other clubs in the recent months, If we survive in the prem he should be the first name on the list. Young, Hungry, determined, English- exactly what sunderland need. he's also someone who can get the most out of average players- which sunderland seem to have a lot of!!!

We need to think long and hard in the close season about a new manager and make sure we get the right person ! .I hear Whatmore is training with the first squad so should a few other youngsters !.good to see Johnston back in training why suspend him when he hasn't been charged yet ??. mind his head might not be right . we need to use pacy wingers against West Ham and give Defoe some service !

I still think we should have given Kevin ball and bracewell the job- know the club inside out- footballing people- will listen to the players and will identify are shortfall- which there is a lot of. Johnson coming in is a bold move but court hearings can take months so might aswell use him while we are waiting for the result.

Agree Banter City with that comments its a MASSIVE gamble bringing an unknown manager with no Premiership experience at all !. I think Johnson should have been released earlier from his ban but I understand the reasons why the club were hesitating on that issue ! I just hope Short gets this decision right if not its his head on the block !

In my opinion, the whole team needs restructuring! Patrick van Aanholt showing how poor he was defensively against Villa, needs to be played on the left of a 4 in the middle, or in a front 3. John Oshea is also poor excuse defender and a captain. As the skipper and a centre half, he should have lead by example and at least showed some desire and fight and sorted the lads out around him. Instead he was awful defensively and went into his shell within 15 mins of the first half starting! Di Canio questioned him when he was captain when he was in charge and its defo time for a change. For all his faults I feel Catts needs to be reinstated as el capitano as he's one of the only players in a squad full of wet weekends that has the desire and fight to inspire his team mates. Larson is probably the biggest waste of space on a football pitch and hense nobody noticing when he missed the first 5 of the second half on saturday! Dick Advocatt needs to seriously shape up this bunch of wettys and try and get us pressing high up the pitch and attacking with an intensity again. My only worry is that he's not another Felix Magath!!! After all he came in with a strict and decent reputation and ended up messing fulham right up!!!

Worldiebanter, with all respect Catts as captain, he should not be even at the club, what on earth are you thinking.He was pulling wing mirrors off cars p!ssed a couple of seasons ago.I think the club are totally wrong to even be employing him let alone making him a millionaire.

You're right about his past, Chris, but I think Catts has grown up since then. He's a good footballer and missed when he's not on the pitch. Regardless of who's wearing the armband, I think he's calling the shots, anyway.

Catts has matured look . yes his discipline record isn't good but so wasn't Kevin Balls ! his long ball passing also is something we miss we all need a ball winner in the middle of the park and with Coleback gone he is the only option !

Chris- Cattermoles mentality and overall ability has improved significantly in recent seasons and there was a reason at the start of the season Poyet was saying he should be in the England Squad. If you look at the other midfielders in the side, larson and gomez- who are 2 of the wettest footballers yourll ever see. Larson can sometimes take a good free kick and corner but how many goals has he created scored recenetly? Gomez resembles are card board cut out and how can Catts be expected to cover these waste of space footballers? He is the only midfielder we've got that can make a tackle, and his desire and passion is a fantastic trait for the youngsters coming through to observe!!!! I can't imagine too many people looking at O'shea and thinking wow what a leader- I want to try my hardest for him!!! Name me another player chris you would rather have as captain?
