Ed, these 5 main continental players were being linked with that fellow Sunderland fans are pretending they know enough about to judge as good signings, is there any evidence that they will be good enough for the Premier League or are we in massive trouble next season? I unlike most on here disagree that Di Canio will have more money than ever to spend as I think this is why we've gambled on an inexperienced manager who has more of an idea of the international market than previous hopeless managers. I think the freebies are more or less what were going in with and maybe a couple of minor monetary additions. Do you agree Ed? {Ed024's Note - I think there has been a definate decision to maximise bosmans - these can be agreed early so teams know where they are - i still expect PDC to spend a few quid domestically - that said Fletcher and Cattermole will feel like new signings so i don't expect huge amounts spent }

Hi I'm the Gosforth Mackem,
Been supping a few ales in Osbornes myself and after several hours still can't think of any measure at all that would make Newcastle a World top 5 club. For me it would be success on the pitch. Having won nothing since 1955, Newcastle would however make it into the top 150 World clubs, at number 150.
Could our deluded Jesmondite be referring to the 'toon army' and their 'Cathedral' in the city as his measure of 'big-ness' I wonder?
Let's not forget folks, the 'toon army' was invented in 1993 so most members aren't old enough to remember the yo-yo years of 1978-1992 when the 'cathedral' echoed to the sound of empty seats and mediocracy. You see, not until the future of the club was recklessly mortgaged away by Messrs. Hall and Shepherd, did the 'sermons' become worth attending.
So my little deluded magpie, the reality of the situation is this; ask any British football fan who he or she would most like to see relegated from the Premier League and it would be Newcastle United.
You demonstrate beautifully why.

These arguments between us and the Geordies are starting to do my head in now
They should stay on their site
We should stay on ours, who cares what they think, {Ed024's Note - its just banter until the transfer window hots up}
I'm happy with a bit of banter
It's when they just lie, that does my head in
Eg: Rose wants to go to Newcastle
No one has sent he wants to come. Some toon fans would like him to come come. Personally I think he looks good in an average team. We don't need full backs. So personally I don't want him.
Rose is not good enough for newcastle we will buy Baines of Marcelo etc if we buy a left back but we don't need one anyway.
Perfect fit for a small/average club like sunderland no disrespects intended.
JESMOND GEORDIE {Ed024's Note - if you get Baines or Marcelo - I'll show my arse in Fenwicks window.}
I love the banter it's just when they ramble on about how they're a giant club and we have nothing to spend, then it does my head in. Safc93
I was unsure, but I'm sure as hell now
After reading all the comments you have made, you are a 6 year old kid who's life revolves around Fifa who has no idea wot he's got coming to him
I think we're just getting bored, when the transfer window opens up like ed said, it will be a bit cooler.
JMW- a mag
I'm a mag and jesmond geordie can you please stop making these utterly stupid, immature and deluded posts you are a putting a bad name on proper realistic newcastle fans. Newcastle are big in terms of fan base (i sort of agree with you that we are some of the best, most passionate and loyal fans in england or europe) and tradition i'd say we could match up to the likes of everton and spurs but never ever to the likes of man u and liverpool. We could never afford the money for marcelo and he'd never leave real madrid not even for a club like spurs. Rose is good enough for newcastle, he's a very good player and he would be a very good buy for either sunderland or newcastle. I would actually say sunderland are a big club, bigger than west ham, cardiff, fulham, stoke, southampton, norwich even qpr (who've actually got a big fan base), but they aren't as big as newcastle but are certainly good rivals :) and we both give the best derby in england!
Baines? this blokes got to be on something
Stop drinking the tyne water it, s turning your brain to mush. jeff whitley's good enough for the mags.
Was at Ponteland Airport Weds night waiting for my flight, havin a pint. was our the moon when I looked our to the little sports shop next to the bogs. they only had the new Skunk away top on display outside, yes. you guessed it, the one with WONGA on the front. Ha Ha. Don't the sad ge0rdi3s realise that big clubs don't do WONGA.
Rose not good enough for noocarsel, my god, what a statement from a fan of a club that let in nearly 70 goals last season. Go back to your big club son, ask your mam if you can play out for 10 extra minutes.
Jesmand you were a waste of 10 seconds of your dads energy and 9 months of your mothers pain! You cannot tell crap from clay!
Whats with the obsession with Newcastle. It's just one dudes opinion. Ponteland airport? Sure it's Newcastle airport. Why didn't you just use the one in Sunderland. Oh that's right there isn't one.
Yes Ponteland Airport!. It's just outside WONGALAND on the road to Jockland.
Jockland, Wongaland and Ponteland airport. Guess you have been drinking the same stuff as Jesmond Geordie.
Bleach and motor oil
Got ya WONGA top yet ge0rdi3?

Apparently these are on Di Canio's shopping list
•Danny Rose - obviously
•Andreas Weimann - he has impressed Di Canio this term, with Benteke surely heading for the exit at villa, Weimann will surely follow, Weimann injects fleet-foodedness, awareness and creativity and can prove to be a huge asset to our goal gobbler Steven Fletcher.
•Matteo Darmian is at Torino and is a right Back, he has impressed in Serie A this year, he has created 21 attacking chances, 81% of passes successful, the 23 year old Is rated between 4-6m and is comfortable as a centre back, which is great for Sunderland, him and Danny Rose as wing backs would be great for Sunderland attacking and defending
We need skill and pace throughout the team!
