think we need someone to help keep possesion

Believable3 Unbelievable0

We have him colback in the middle, but i think we are fine as we are as we wont be playing swansea or arsenal every week, teams that play possession football.

Also dont judge us just yet, players are just not fit and a few have had no pre season.Mclean looks unfit as does, larsson, sessegnon, fletcher to be fair most of them.

We play counter attacking football anyway so are rarely going to boss a game and its results that count we played arsenal got the same amount of points 1 and the same at swansea so that will do me.

We should sell David meyler what do you think {Ed024's Note - Why ?}

Believable2 Unbelievable5

No i like him yes he is slow and isnt the most gifted of players technique wise but he is tough and strong. You need that sometimes and i have met him and he is a character off the pitch a very popular lad around the club apparently. He just needs a run injury free.

Agree4 Disagree2

I think he should have a try at cb. He is strong and can takle and with us having injury prone defenders why not. Safc9

Agree1 Disagree3

He is injury prone

Agree1 Disagree0

Watched meyler against morcambe. There were no tough tackling. They just walked right past him 6th choice cm in my opinion behind larsson catts colback gardner vaughan

Couldn't have asked for more from Fletcher! But it's disappointing that once we take the lead we just sit back and invite the pressure on

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I think thats to do with fitness and we will improve.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

He is no worse than Saha if not better he takes hes chances but its just getting him on the pitch.

well done to fletcher, coud'nt do much more on a league debut. more of the same please and silence some of the doubters!

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Might have cost more than the 2 dumbas up the road put together but scored more than them put together in less games. Safc93

Agree2 Disagree1

17 goals last season for ba and away in acon not bad for a man with a gammie legg lol...13 in 12 for cisse and nearly all spectacular knock em all your want they 2 good strikers safc93 and yes fletcher took his goals well....k

Agree1 Disagree1

I know they're both good.strikers but my point is everyone slated Fletcher when.we signed.him but he has scored more in less games than them 2 so he must be a good player. Safc93

Agree2 Disagree1

Fletcher is looks ok safc93 still think safc should of had another striker in aswell as as for toon we should of had another striker to...k

Agree0 Disagree0

Newcastles season could be ruined in january and febuary if senegal qualify for.acon. Safc93

Agree2 Disagree1

To true lets just hope its tiote we lose instead or we will have to by a striker.....k

Someone who can score at last, but same old shortcomings. Totally overrun in midfield again- just like 90% of games under MON. The best performances have been snatching wins; can't remember when we had half the play! That is why we needed midfielders who can win the ball, keep it and pass accurately. Ten man Swansea had more possessions than we did. The team might be a little stronger up front, but the approach shows the same limited conception of the beautiful game.

I would take a 2-2 draw with Swansea anyday considering the form they're in. Fletcher off to a flying start aswell. Safc93

Overall a disappointing day. good to see a LB- even an untested one- arrive. But very frustrating that players like Adam, Nzonzi, Dempsey, Berbatov have all moved at bargain prices while we have just looked on. Beginning to think MON was out of the English game too long; things have moved on and when it comes to wheeler-dealing he is well off the pace. Injuries to a couple of key players could ruin the season- let's hope we get lucky. More than a dozen out addresses one part of the problem MON inherited, but only two actual purchases to replace them seems a strategy that will need good luck to succeed.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Glad your not a safc fan, we signed players that MON was after and wanted to sign, for the terms agreed. Well done MON for building a team gradually with players that want to play for safc, and not buying for buying sake, come on sunderland,

Agree3 Disagree2

Totally agree with second post.far better players the manager really wants, how many of our last minute buys from previous seasons, turned out well.think mon has faith in some of the younger players, laing, adams, knott, noble etc..and lets see what happens at next window.

Agree1 Disagree1

Adam and nzonzi no better than we already have

Agree2 Disagree1

Nonsense. Both have more influence on how their teams play than Catt ever will. But the point was that we look very thin when it comes to MF players who can dominate the game, not a criticism of players we already have. And as for MON, he has a track record of signing mostly established UK players for larger sums than most people think they are worth. Of course I hope his latest speculations are successful, but it would be nice to see a little more creativity and imagination in the construction and organisation of the team.
