I'm going to be positive I think the players that have come in are very good signings. Jones will be solid at RB Arnholt is a great young LB Gomez can do a good job in midfield and Rodwell will prove he's a star. Now for me we need 3 quality signings a CB a left sided player and a forward. For me Richards, Borini and welbeck would be ideal. Wickham can go for me last season was a flash in the pan in my eyes. I understand it takes time to get these players in but I'm sure if we can see this so can poyet so I'm going to trust him. Now if we don't get anyone in of note then I think it's more to do with the club not willing to spend the money which in itself is a problem if we don't finish mid table as we won't get the players we need next summer either. Hurry up Gus times running out.

Completely agree
But I don't think it will be 3 signings (what Gus wants)
I think it will be 2
Centre back - could be anyone,
Winger/forward - Welbeck/Borini (hopefully)

Welbeck will never come we are p***ing in the wind with that one. If man united sell it will be hernadez due to welbecks versatility. -However he did he somehow join we would be living the dream!

We can only hope that Poyet has a Plan B - if the Borini deal does not come off (and let's be honest he's hardly jumped at the chance, has he?) if Poyet doesn't get a decent striker in - he could be left looking very foolish. Waiting for a month!!!
If we struggle for goals in the early stages of the season Gus could find himself under a lot of pressure.

In regards to last season, most of pre-season, the first game of this season and the lack of goals from our strikers, who deserves the blame?
A) The strikers for not getting themselves in position/being bad shots/lacking confidence etc
B) The midfielders for lacking creativity/poor passes/crosses etc
C) Poyets for playing the wrong formation/players/system
D) Other. Explain

I would be interested in all of your theories. I have my opinion, but would like to hear how everyone else feels. Please respond.

D- it's prob a combination of a lot of things.
I'm not worried re pre-season, there was lots of changes to the team and a lot of kids playing them games.
1- safc hit rock bottom with pdc & de Fanti plus still recovering from other recent managers.
2- strikers, fletch was a big miss last season through injury. His 10+ goals would have seen us mid table. Wickham was only given a chance towards the end of the season, borini was played in midfield and altidore is still young and came into a struggling side and we prob expected to much of him.
3- midfielders I felt seemed to defensive at times last season, maybe confidence maybe because our defence so poor they didn't want to push forward to much.
4- poyet. It's easy to forget that he's relatively new to management and that he joined safc at a really bad time. Yes he will make mistakes and had to experiment a lot last season and had to get to know the players.
5- keep selling our better players.

Scoring goals is something that we've struggled with for a long long time. Fingers crossed Gus can put this right.
I'm not expecting to much this season as there is still a lot of team building to do but this time next year after two transfer windows we should be close to seeing a decent team.
