Now that Celtics adventure is over I suppose the bun fight for Van Dijks will begin.Southampton,or maybe Sunderland in for him,both with Dutch managers,is any one else after him?For some reason Van Dijks has been tagged as quality,how on earth can this be when week in week out he plays in the Scottish Prem against much poorer opposition than he will find in the EPL.I mention this as we have made far to many mistakes in the transfer market in the past,costing the club a fortune.I don't know if this player is quality or not,we don't watch Scottish football enough to judge him.I just hope the club make the correct decisions in future as we have enough puddings at the club already,Thoughts on Van Dijk anyone?.

Good call. You have the likes of chris sutton raving about him, but if you watch the malmo game, on that performance he stinks. And like arca33 said, denayer made van dijk look very good. I would still love him to come to us. But I doubt if he is the messiah for our defence. Jonny evans, yes please.

not going to diss the guy as he is playing in a league where only one team is going to win it so he ain't getting tested week in week out but he has potential and if the price is right I would give the lad a chance

went to the game last night and good job scoring the goals but the defending I such a worry. coates was embarrassing for the first, was like primary school work. van annholt out jumped for the second and oshea and PVA at fault for the third. We need defensive reinforcements or we are in trouble.

Defoe was terrific! showed what he can do with some decent service. Graham did everything but score which is a shame and fletcher got injured meaning watmore came on so in my eyes fletcher did well too (hoope its nothing serious).Rodwell was very good today aswell.

Now the two youngins changed the game for me when they came on. Watmore excites his pace nd direct running are tremendous and gooch also got the crowd excited. Hope this is a sign of things in our u21, s.

Problem is DA doesn't like a lot of youngsters in his sides going by his previous managerial experiances , but hopefully the displays of Watmore And the young American Gooch will persuade him otherwise!

For me if Short dosent want to invest more to rectify mistakes that he has admitted he is to blame for then he clearly dosent have the stomach to continue as chairman. In this last week he really needs to throw caution to the wind and bring in quality to give us any chance of preserving our status. i'd like to see him bring in Jonny Evans, one of Alonso/Rose/Enrique, De Guzman (agree to a loan only), Borini and either Austin or the lad from Wolves. What would that cost us 8-10 for Evans, Alonso a loan fee or 4/5 mil, DE guzman 1.5 mil loan fee, Borini a loan fee and Austin or the Wolves lad 10 mil plus Fletcher or Graham. That would probably cost us around 30 mil. Short said we've spent 21 so far, Chairman of companies always cook figures to serve their purposes and it didn't take into account the money recouped from the sale of Whickam. So total outlay would be 40 mil. Unfortunately due to the way they've gone about recruitment at the end of the season they wouldn't have many of the better players still at the club but if for once they learned from mistakes maybe they could then rectify this. Whilst we needed a reasonable amount done in the Summer its hard to believe what an arse they've actually made of it. I realise that none of the selections I've made will probably come to pass but if I were the chairman its what I would do to make it happen, its worth remembering the likes of Borini, De Guzman who are possible internationals will be looking to play every week in the hope of getting in to their national squads for the euros so you might get more out of them!
