JCFulwell. What do you know? You don't seem to get much right! Where do you get your info?
We support the club and should trust the manager. If it's a funding issue then he will walk if the club go back on their word. The signings will come but a sure way to be in financial trouble is to sign mediocre players at too high a price. Take a look at Portsmouth, where they were and where they are now in a relatively short space of time. Stop the moaning and get behind the team.

According to the Chronicle the negotations with Crewe over the comepensation fee for Max Clayton has broken down and he has now gone on trial at wolves. Seems to be trouble in negotations department. However keep the faoth. Haway the lads.

Ed's. You will see from my previous posts that I am in favour of the club taking time to sign the 'Right' and 'Quality' players and for fans to back off.

However, Gus himself is saying that these transfers are taking too long so you have to make allowances for our concerns.

I appreciate that the area is not appealing and the 'Yo Yo' nature of the club will also detract from players wanting to come. However, our neighbours seem to have more success attracting and getting deals over the line when they identify genuine targets!

I must therefore ask, are these issues down to our contracts, wage structure or simply the legal people behind the scenes carrying out the negotiations?

I have also took on board the 'Ed Rant' about youth players coming through. I am in full agreement that a status 1 academy should be generating more first team players, ie Southampton style. However, does our current U21 have suitable LB/RB/CB players as these are the areas we are in desperate need of players? Personally I think CB is a definite no therefore fans concerns over lack of CB rumours let alone signings is justified.

I don't believe paper talk and rumours but Borini is a definite and Gus said he was after Rodriguez so these 'Higher Quality' players are definite targets. The club need to make official statements stating if these deals are dead or still alive so fans know instead of a source in Spain said and so on.

I have faith in Gus and his style of football but if we cannot attract the right players I fear another relegation struggle!

{Ed001's Note - it is a number of reasons. The main issue is the previous few years of struggling against relegation though. Players don't want to drop out of the top flight, especially internationals. So it makes it more difficult to target the next level players.

There was an issue with previous regimes and a lack of appetite for bringing through youth players. You can understand why when you see that the famous Man Utd group that came through were mostly coming through due to Ron Atkinson's work on improving the United academy. Most managers want to get the benefits of the work they do for themselves, they know they are not likely to be there the 10 years or so it takes to fully receive benefit from any changes made to the academy.

That is why so many clubs on the continent work with the director of football model. The DOF is meant to look after the club's long term interests, youth academy etc, while the head coach deals with winning games.

I was surprised Laing got released, talking of your young defenders, as he was probably the only one showing signs of being able to play in the Premier League from what I have seen. Hopefully the club have some aces up their sleeve, as a couple of good youth products can make all the difference to a club, even if you end up forced to sell them.}
