Read that Ball is thinking of bringing back Bardsley- if any proof were needed that he, great servant as he has been, he should not even be considered for the job, that is it. Is the collection of complacent, navel-gazers at the club who constantly overestimate their own ability determined to make Newcastle look like relatively well managed club?
I despair of the nonsense being spouted by players and Ball alike (shut the f--k up, O'shea- what we want from you is the occasional premier league performance, not your inane platitudes - shame your legs are so much slower than your tongue). Can't the club ban any public statements until we win a game- or we have someone who has something sensible to say?

What a post one of the most honest I have seen on here mate

how anyone in their right mind can want kevin ball as manager amazes me. nothing against him as he has been a good servant to the club, but like most of us who went last season and saw how poor we were and how lucky to stop up with the players we had. so what happens we bring a new team in over the summer and we still stick with the majority of crap from last season. what makes anyone think they are going to be any different this season is fooling themselves. although it pains me to say this but pdc will be laughing his tits off at the end of the season when we are relegated because mark my word as long as we are relying on the likes of those players who played last season we are heading to the championship.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You are correct, Paolo tried to change the whole mentality of the club from being perpetual losers to being a professional team that would train and give the fans a team they deserve. The hardcore of senior players did not like it, too difficult for them to buy into, so what happens, they simply did not play for him knowing in time he would get the chop. Ellis Short has got to get the right man this time around that is for sure, 41,000 this weekend was only beaten by Man Utd, Spurs had 5000 less, it is just not acceptable. Who is running this club, Short, or these unprofessional bunch of losers who since Steve Bruces time have settled for being second best nearly every game. After all the years of disappointment how can any Sunderland supporter still want these "senior players" to continue churning out second rate football that is crippling our club.

Pull out all the stops and get neil lennon, great motivator of players and gets the best out of them!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What odds did you get for Lennon?

Agree0 Disagree0

Got 20/1. He wears his heart on his sleeve and he will give the players the kick up the backside they need without having to worry about them crying to the owner.

For me Westwood, gardner, cuellar, colback, larsson, johnson should all be dropped and the line up should be.
Mannone
Celustka oshea Diakate Roberge

Mavrias ki Cattermole Giaccherini

Altidore Wickham

Westwood, colback, johnson, ba, karlsson, borini

This is our strongest lineup

___________Westwood____________

_______Diakite_____Rob
erge_______Celu
stka___________________Colback

_________Catts_____K
i____________Larss
on___________________Mavr
ias

___________Giaccheri
ni__________________
______Altidore_____________

Defence - Celustka is always an 8/10
Diakite is quick and a good tackler
Roberge is very tidy and composed
Colback is mr reliable

Midfield - Larsson has improved not making many mistakes, great at set pieces and has worked on speed
Catts has been brilliant, very composed and protects the back 4 great
Ki good playmaker, finds space for himself and others
Mavrias is the only risk taker, he runs at players using his skill and pace

Forwards - Giaccherini is our best player, great on the ball and can find a goal, Fletchers injury could be a blessing in disguise, because he is good at overlapping with Jozy and is a late player into the box (Lampard) so he can get his tap ins
Jozy, we know he can be deadly in front of goal but he hasn't been so far, great at holding the ball up and bringing others into play, just needs a couple of goals to get his confidence up

Players out: O'Shea, completely useless and slow, always gives coaches compliments to get into his good books
Johnson, way overrated, never properly involved in the game, magic when he is but that's only for 5mins, if he wants to go to the WC, needs to sort his act out

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Colback might be mr reliable but his no left back he got tortured at wba gets dragged into the centre to often I fear for him against man utd and even worse than that what's going to happen when he comes up against ben arfa as for Cattermole as I've said on another post watched the game yesterday he can't pass a ball does well winning it but his distribution is dire and Larsson I don't want to go their his finished but I do agree players like oshea brown gardener Johnson Vaughan cuellar need to be off the wage bill as they are not good enough for the premiership.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with your post but for some reason Cattermole is a crowd favourite, imagine Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea, Spurs, etc having him as a their star player, hence we are light years behind them. He would not get on the bench, that is why we fail year after year.

Agree0 Disagree0

We are a poor team at the moment, we are not getting results
The players can't treat it like Pre season, this matters
A few of them don't look interested
For the next manager we need the next step down from PDC, passionate but not a bl**dy nutter, someone who can motivate the players and sort the tactics out

We got Man Utd next, can see us playin reasonably well but I guarantee we will still lose and concede 3 goals again!

If we don't win in the next 3 games we will struggle this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Midfield I'm happy with, ki and catts are a good partnership and we have good wingers, I'm happy with the strikers once Fletcher is back. Its our defence that's the problem far too weak and the goalkeeper is not good enough.

Give the job to Steve Bould.

I hope this time around they do there home work and take there time picking a manager.

Sadly enough there is no one that really stands out for me.

I don't think Gus Poyet is the man we need for the job.

I do think we would be better of with a British manager someone who has spend his whole career in the Premier League has a player, coach and manager.

I guess your going to ask who I think should be in the short list:

Steve Bould
Stuart Pearce
David Platt
Paul Ince
Graeme Le Saux
Rio Ferdinard
Glenn Hoddle
Bruce Rioch
Terry Venables
George Graham

Others

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lol wouldn't give any of them the job

Agree0 Disagree0

Mag in peace. This - how can I put it? - is a surprising list. Pearce and Platt have mediocre pedigree when it comes to managing Prem teams; Rioch, Hoddle, Venables and Graham are from the days long before yesterday. Ince? Maybe, but no Prem management experience. I would go with Ed's choice, Pulis, as a short-term fix. But it's none of my business, really! Vic

Agree0 Disagree0

George Graham hasn't managed in 15 years or so has he, Hoddle hasn't spoke to the spirits on this one, Rio Ferdinand plays for Man U. MAG IN DISGIUSE THIS POSTER

hope we have someone in charge by the weekend or we needn't turn up against man utd kevin ball is a legend at the club but he is no good as our manager. gardener oshea cuellar colback Cattermole larsson Johnson are the same players who were lucky not to get us relegated last season yet are still getting picked for the team. unless we get a manager who can see that these players are not premiership class and need to be dropped we are nailed on certainties for relegation. as the old guy from dads army used to say we are DOOMED.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What's happened to the defence ed, no celustka diakite Roberge, why play gardner right back when u have one on the bench, why play cuellar when u have roberge, cuellars to slow, as for colback he went missing so many times yesterday. when's dossena fit at least he's a left back, come on s'land sort it out, -10 aalready.

So Kevin Ball shows his hand by bringing back Cuellar, Larrson & Gardner. backward step Kevin and one which will see you fail. Our last three managers proved that theory.
We are at a cross roads and for me a strong minded coach is required. One who is capable of man management. He needs to bring with him a reputation that will put players in there place before a ball has been kicked, letting them know that he is king. Only problem is I don't think this guy exists in the circles our football club lives in.

Our new gaffer is going to have to find a way of rooting out the lame attitudes / performances from a group of players who rule the roost of our club.
PDC seen the problem but went about remedying it the wrong way.

The players brought in by the club this summer are the immediate future of our club, like that fact or not. Those players where the clubs summer strategy and need to played.
Ellis Short and his new hierarchy sanctioned the signing of these players. He sanctioned the number of signings we made because previously we where simply not good enough. Ellis now needs to stand up and be counted and bring in the right man with the remit of gelling these players into a football team.

Yesterdays huff & puff performance by Ballys starting XI wasnt that of a football team. It was disjointed, shambolic defending providing a shoddy foundation for some very decent attacking play. No balance, just some very decent individual performances. Giacherini, Ki & Cattermole all looked like players we can build around. John O'Shea owed the club a massive performance after the WBA farce and what followed it. He was at best. shocking and has been all season so far.

I wish I could finish this article with the name a manager who could come in and perform this miracle but sadly I cant. And that is the most worrying part of where we find ourselves!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And you lot all thought Ball was the man after beating a league 1 side.

3-1 is a respectable score line for you lot. It probably would have been much more if PDC's players were out there.

we gave liverpool a game and should of got something out of it if it weren't for biased Webb screwing us again

I know we're still bottom but going by yesterday's performance I think we have the quality to survive, we were the better team for a lot of the game and were really unlucky when Larssons free-kick hit the bar and the sturridge handball going in. If we can get the right man in we will be fine. Safc93

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Have to disagree with the Sturridge handball. If you look closely you can just see a beach-ball tucked under his right armpit and the match-ball bounced off that. Let's call it even!

Agree0 Disagree0

We were even when you were credited with that disgrace of a goal when Turner was thought to have took the free-kick when he knocked it back for the keeper to take. Safc93

Agree0 Disagree0

Not forgetting the penalty against mensah that was closer to the half way line than the box!

Agree0 Disagree0

Plus the beachball was a silly liverpool fan who threw it on
