So, we have a credible front three- Lens, Defoe, Borini, and a credible midfield three, Toivonen, Rodwell (who seems much sharper of late) and M'Vila. all we need is a back four and we can play 4-3-3!

Shame we did not buy a fullback or a decent centre-back, and ridiculous that we re-signed Brown. though I still think he is as good as Jones at right back, which is not saying a lot. Would be wonderful if it turned out Fletcher is makeweight in a last-minute deal for Van Dijk, and we can get another defender on loan from somewhere before tomorrow night.
Largely agree with your suggested clear out, Bobby K, but I think we will be lucky if we can move four of them on before the deadline, which wiil still leave us with half a dozen who aren't good enough but seem to block the promotion of U21s into the squad anyway.

As I said noctonflier it is a wish list, but I do agree with you that we will be lucky to move 4 of them out. There is apparently interest in mannone, buckly, bridcutt and fletcher. The fletcher story if true is incredable, go on loan to celtic for a year and we pay part of his wages then they get him for nothing. A player we paid 12 mill for. Madness.

Dick did say that if they wernt in his plans then he wouldn't play them, with the hope that they would want to leave. Thus not blocking the progress of the under 21s. Fingers crossed on that 1.

Agree with your front line and midfield. Kaboul looked better than of late but we need another cb and lb and rb. Would love charlie austin here too. Am I getting greedy? A couple more in and I think we can have a good go.

Nolan is a good call too. Good professional and got plenty left.

Larson and jones just escape by the skin of their teeth.

Sign two more and bring in a couple of loans. Use our young uns and we will be ok.

If we get Borini, buy another defender and be done. I think Advocaat knows how to get goals with the squad he's got, but our back line is dreadful. RB is covered for now but a quality CB or LB is definitely needed. Hope we get it.

Why do people not want borini, he said he was going to try and get in Liverpool starting 11 but failed, Liverpool are a bigger club than my beloved safc, that is a fact, we need a striker and borini did a good job last time he was here and if rumours are true and he is on his way then I am happy, if rumours are false then we should worry as we can't seem to get players signed I would also take Nolan good midfielder, sell carts. liability you can't piggy back opposing players in your box and get away with it.

What is wrong with wanting to play top flight football and wanting to fight for your place at one of the biggest clubs in england, granted things didn't go his way and you can argue he's not top flight but you can't knock him for effort and let's face it look at what we have had to put up with gomez buckley rodwell give me borini any day over these clowns with lens mvilla toivonen and borini in the midfield things could just bring a glimmer of hope back to the stadium of light

Agree too. He can do a job for us, 4 mill cheaper too. Just have to forget all the drama,s that went on before. Would any safc supporter have believed that bornemouth is a more attractive proposition than us. De guzman thinks so. In a way, I am pleased. I like the look of toivenan and we know what borini can do. As for charlie austin going to bornemouth, I will be gutted. He would be ideal for us. We need a hero, just like super kev and marco.

I don't mind borini but how can you value a player at 10 mil who has only played a handful of games in the past few seasons and only has a year left on his contract? bemuses me where that valuation comes from

Agree with this post,by all means go for borini he gives his all and is a grafter but that's about all,he is worth nowhere near the money being quoted and as it seems Liverpool were glad to be getting rid of him maybe we had a bit more room for negotiations.

I agree that we seemed to have been chasing borini forever ed,but I don.t agree that he was ever our 1st 2nd or even 3rd choice of striker we were looking at in this window just because Gus had a hard on for borini don.t really believe Dick had him down as a must have
