Don't understand why everyone is saying its been a bad summer

Can you honestly say that any of the players off last season who have been replaced are better than the new lads, excluding Migs and POSSIBLY Rose,
Some fans are just greedy, thinking we r Man City or something
That there is a smashin team, Ki is 10 times the playmaker Larsson is, Cabrals bring power, Stamina and heart, thing Vaughan didn't have, Giaccherinii for McClean, I don't need to say anything for that, Altidore for Sess, Altidore is so more consistent, he holds the ball up well, he brings players into the game, he scores MANY goals, All Sess had was his skills, and he did that once every 6 months,
Celustka is a quality RB, attacking and defending as he's already shown, Diakite and Roberge are too solid centre halfs, much better than the 2 old goats we used to play with

We've added plenty of depth, depth with youth, pace and skill
We must applaud Di Canio and his staff

But he does need to settle down, making public jibes at his own players won't do anyone good
It will take 5 or 6 games to get everyone up to speed, but once we do, we will cause teams, BIG teams problems

None of the bottom 10 sides will fear facing that team. I reckon even Hull would fancy their chances against that side. Basically stay very compact and difficult to break down, and hit you when the opportunity arrives, that method will work against your side all season by the lower teams.

The upper 10 teams will rip that backline to shreds.

When a team is defending so badly from set pieces, that is normally a bad sign.

I think Di Canio wants to play attacking football, but you need creative players to do that, and you simply do not have them.

Ki is not the man to do that, even old school players like scott parker could make mince meat of Ki.

I agree with third post people are over rating ki celutska (spelling) roberge diakite. Laudrup obviously doesn't see much in ki at the moment, he was very inconsistent at Swansea. Roberge is dodgy and was terrible marking against Fulham. Diakite is slow and got torn apart at palace. Celutska is average. Although I think Giaccherini is good signing along with altidore and borini. But you lost a major part of creativity and flair in sessegnon. And rose and mignolet were big losses for you, they kept you in a lot of games

Laudrup fell out with ki after he got permission from the chairman to return home for something ( I can't remember what it was ) check his stats he was one of the top passers in the league last year.

He has a 96% passing accuracy Ki that is.

PDC has already given Celustka a lot of praise
Diakite and Roberge are much better than the old slugs we used to play with and Ki is a fantastic passer

Okay, Di Canio, Di Fanti etc has done a phenomenal job bringing in the players and completely changing the squad, on paper we have a great squad but that means nothing if the players havnt got the communication and understanding with each other,
He's got 2 weeks before the next game, the forwards (Giaccherini, Johnson, Jozy, Fletch) look as if they are on the same page
Midfeild, Cabral, Catts or Colback will need to break up the play, give it to Ki and he has to find the forwards
But our defence is our weak point, SET PEICES, most of our defence won't be getting called up for International Duty, so they need to focus on set pieces, because that's why we are losing games
And Westwood needs to take charge and to be stronger, he needs to be catching the crosses which are in his 6 yard box

On paper your squad is still behind the likes of Fulham, west ham, west brom, Norwich and Southampton

But above Noocarsel, on paper that is, or don't you agree?Stick with the toon page, we will eat you up here.

I don't think anybody using childish terms like 'noocarstle' has the mental capacity to eat anybody up!

some persons on here they must have pictures of sess on their bedroom walls the guy is the most over rated and under achieving player to pull on a sunderland shirt and he is now history.

we now have a very strong squad in depth with cover for most players across the park in the case of injuries or suspensions all we need now is pdc to get his head sorted and get the best 11 on the field every week he has no excuse he has bought a player for every position on the field.

so let's get behind the team its a new dawn and hopefully a good one.

We need a settled team, PDC is tinkering every week! Pick a good strong team, (leave out o's****), and be done with it. And stop dressing them down publicly or they won't give you 100% on the pitch. It is the fans who suffers remember!

Every week? Were 3 weeks in. If he's doing the same in 6 or 7 weeks then you'd have good reason to question but be patient.

Actually I think catts could do a good job in this team

No, I can see Cattermole being a really big player for us this season, IF he keeps fit and keeps his cool

A very good point. There are a couple I'm not convinced by yet, but overall these are better players who will improve the squad. Its down to the coaching now.

Mag here in peace, I think PDC is going to have to find his settled line up sooner than later otherwise on field understanding will never develop, I though the back 4 were very unsure of each other on saturday I have noticed that PDC is very quick to lambast the players when they lose publicly naming them, surely that cannot be good for confidence or motivation. I hope he will be generous with praise when winning and not become one of those managers who when winning it's down to him but losing it's down to players. I think you have signed a decent player in Borini but he needs someone to play off. See you next month

I posted this team to show what we have brought in. I agree it's not our 1st XI and the fact they are all foreign is not the point. I simply wanted to show those still moaning at our business that in one window we have bought an entire team that could survive in this league!

I would have wes brown if fit our best centre half by a mile and of course fletch when he came on on saturday you could see his movement not like the other 2 statues

So much for clearing out the deadwood still have ji wickham larsson vaughan gardner bardsley absolute s###e transfer window

More of a case of couldn't get rid of them, not that I'd get rid of half that list at all. Bardsley broke his foot, couldn't sell him even if we wanted to, Ji? well, nobody bid for him by the looks of it. let's just get behind the team and hope that they gel and do decently.

I'm not too sure on Westwood,
He can make a couple of descent stops but he makes plenty of silly errors

What do people think?

Yeah Westwood is a good shot stopper, but currently doesn't command the box on set pieces, and is slow to hit the ground at close range, hence two of the goals in the last game, always poor when a penalty goes under the keeper, but that's what we have now so he will get my full support. people are blaming our defence saying its no good now, it wasn't last season but we had MIGs who did more than anyone to keep us up.

We have to give Westwood a chance. The lad has played deputy to Migs for a long time. I remember when Migs was raw, a lot of people said that he did'nt command his area well enough. but the lad stuck in, learned his trade against the best. Now he is considered one of the best in the Prem. Westwood will get better with more experience and a long run in the team.

It's just the quality on some of the substitutes that's the problem, eg. Ji, Vaughan etc
