Ok so we wanted a manager with passion,, we got one,, why is everone questioning his signings when he has scouting staff who know what there looking for its their job,, so many people being negative after just three games for godsake half the players probably havnt spoken to each other yet. give him a chance that's wot I say and get behind the lads,, in the words of that famous canary philosopher ( delia). " COME ON let's BE AVIN YOU"

Spot on mate! Like I keep saying, would they rather we had the dross of last season . ! We need to give these guy's a chance to settle and adapt. The way some are going on you would think we only had three games left not only three played. Love the way PDC conducts himself, and is not fazed by overpaid under achieving Prima Donna's. PDC will get it right. KTF

Agree0 Disagree0

It will be lucky if 2 of the 14 players signed actually step up to this level.

Winging a prayer is what I would call it.

Passion is not enough at this level. You need to do things right.

Hoping to get lucky by overloading the squad with maybes is not a plan.

Agree0 Disagree0

And what is your plan? Sign no one? that's a great plan aswell. Safc93

Agree0 Disagree0

How do you know that these players won't step up to this level, nobody has seen what Paolo`s team will be yet. Things have changed at Sunderland because we had to change. We have tried with so called experienced managers, it failed, our owner has had the courage to bring in Paolo and his coaching staff to take the club forward, and needs to be applauded for that. A little patience is required before anyone starts knocking what Ellis and Paolo are trying to do. I have to say your post sounds like you are Jawdee spewing the usual bile. Chris-s.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would think that given time the players we have signed will stand up and be counted more than can be said about the lads signed by Newcastle in January

Agree0 Disagree0

Already signs of being some real talent in the new signings.
I was against PDC when he first arrived.
He kept us from relegation last season.
As far as I am concerned he deserves a season to get it right.
Our friends from up the road have the same squad as last season less 3 players who have gone and only 1 loanee arrived to replace them.
We still have most of our squad from last season still with us. Other than Mignolet I do not think we will miss anyone who has gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Like your optimism lads but I can't see where the next points are going to come from.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we still had Mignolet, we would be certainly heading for top 10

Agree0 Disagree0

Still so much negativity! " if we still had Mignolet" - we haven't get over it! He wouldn't score the goals we need, neither would Graham, or Sessegnon. We now have 3 excellent strikers in Jozy, Fletch and Borini who will get the goals. Supported by Giacharrini and Johnson and supplied by Ki. Just get to the game next week and voice your support to cheer the team to 3 points! KTF

Agree0 Disagree0

Our team, last season, were consistently dreadful. I can't believe anyone is wishing for more of the same. Something had to change, now its changed. At least there is a chance of improvement now.

Agree0 Disagree0

What has PDC done, apart from beat Newcastle with MON's team?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, first he got the mentality of the players sorted out
Saved us from relegation
Changed the entire team (which was needed)
Made the team fit
Brought in top class players
Got a plan for the season

while searching for our main midfielder PDC said he was looking for someone who would bring the keys, after a long search we finally get one in on loan, I was thinking of our last few loans so come the end of the season will we be asking that old puzzling question wee's key's are these key's?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I for one can't wait for Ki to play, great passer
His passing percentage is over 25% better than our entire team
This is a great signing!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ki has a good passing percentage because he has been playing for a passing team where players make themselves available for each other.

His passing percentage is not going to be that high playing for Sunderland.

Agree0 Disagree0

? Obviously a geordie above, if ki played for newcastle he's passing accuracy would be zero because they would all be long balls, your a rubbish no skill long ball team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Finding space isn't the problem with our players, it's just that they can't pass

At one of the games Johnson was sprinting down the wing screaming for the ball off Larsson, Larsson didn't pass, why?
Because he didn't have the confidence to find that killer pass, he doesn't think he has the ability to make that pass, even though he does

Agree0 Disagree0

All this optimism is getting too much for me. I must go back on the Toon site to get a dose of depression.

We should all get behind ji he showed he has got potential in Germany this is why champions league giants borrusia Dortmund where after him and in training this season all the back room staff think bet highly of him. He is mentally weak so most of our fans are not helping him I'm not saying he hasn't played badly in the first couple of games but let's just get behind him I personally think he could do very well does anyone else agree

7SAFC7

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree I watched a few of Augsburg games. He is a very good technically and I think if we get behind him he can be a good player for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree mate the fans need to get behind the lad and give him some confidence but one thing I am convinced is that ji is no centre forward and he should be given a chance on the left side of midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea he should play Ji lef mid in the cup against Peterborough

7SAFC7

Agree0 Disagree0

Ji is an imposter, there's no way on these performances he can be a footballer. Get rid now to save the lad more embarrassment and us the pain of watching.

I wonder how many players PDC will get in in the Janurary window lol. providing he's still with us that is?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Such a stupid fan

Why do people not trust Paolo, he is one of the most dedicated managers ever, he gets up at the crack if dawn and gets home at midnight, I guarantee O'Neill or Bruce never stayed so long, he has actually made a change to our squad, something no one else did

We were all warned by the players, club and manager that it would take a while for the team to settle, especially when have the players aren't fit yet, Giacc, Flech, Diakite etc
PDC demands full respect and professionalism off his players, so it wasnt a surprise when he want bonkers with Bardsley and Ji etc
The players must be fully on board with his plans coz they've had all summer to leave and the new arrivals all knew what he was like and have all held meetings with him
We will be fine this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Paulo is the man, give him break!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, let's put our faith in PDC, Palace was a bad show but all teams do have games like that, didn't City get beat 3-2 off Cardiff. I think we will get some points off the tough teams in the next few games and kick on from there.
I still think we will finish 12th or above n Spewcastle will be 15th at best.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on that
His hard work will pay off

Just seen that niall quinn is to be given the key to the city. Great news for a true sunderland legend. Safc93

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Over the moon for Quinny. He is a man who always has a smile on his face. Does loads of good work in and out of football puts others first for no reward. saved our club and is an all round top bloke. true legend he is a one off.

Still over a week to go before our next game and there are plenty of 'alleged' fans on here being all pessimistic. Whatever we think we still need to support the club. My thoughts on recent events are below: -

Dossena - Panic buy (Free Transfer) as we desperately needed a LB and could not find an alternative. To confimr the panic he is apparently injured for 5-6 weeks and we still took him even though we knocked Peruzzi back.

Borini. Different type of forward to what we have so hopefully will give a new dimension. I would have Jozy and Fletch up front to see how they work together and Borini can be the change of tactics.

Ki can pass a ball and was not regular at Swansea so a good bit of business. I think him and Cabral are in the same mould, both can tackle and drive forward, so will give defensive cover and let AJ, EG, JA and SF do the attacking.

The Palace game I think PDC misjudged them and tried to put players in the shop window, Ji & Vaughan in particular and possibly even Seb, while thinking we would still win. Palace however were well up for it though and this backfired.

I am hoping now that with the window closed we can get back to a settled starting line up. For me this would be: -

Westwood
Celustka
Diakite
Brown / Roberge
Colback
Johnson
Cabral
Ki
Giaccherini
Altidore
Fletcher

I would then be looking at giving Borini and Moberg Karlsson regular substitute appearances.

All in all we now need to get right behind PDC and SAFC and even though we have a hard run of games we might just surprise a few of the big teams.

Haway the Lads!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I hope ki does play in the next game. He completed 1500 of his attempted passes last season that's 93% overall. Just what we need. Safc93

West brom for relegation are you for real?
Hull
Palace
Nufc or safc both squads not enough quality too many average to poor players eg vaughan gardner ji larsson dossena oshae cuellar bardsley wickham borini catts

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed024's Note - Cuellar and Bards wont play, shame your writing Borini off before he's kicjed a ball for us !!!!}

And not one of those players mentioned above will be playing in the next game! Get you facts right before you start slagging . support the team or go and support Gateshead.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree0 Disagree0

Palace just gave you a shellacking, and you expect them to go down lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

One game out of 38

When Paolo took charge everyone had us to go straight down, but then we gave you a shellacking in your own backyard

Agree0 Disagree0

''When Paolo took charge everyone had us to go straight down, but then we gave you a shellacking in your own backyard''

Fair enough, that was then, this is a new season. The thought of playing us this season must have you lot bricking it.

You know this score will be settled.
