I saw on QI the other night, that Newcastle's biggest export years ago, after shipbuilding and beer was urine. Apparently they use it in the manufacture of tweed, and Geordie pittle was about the best. Which brings me to the conclusion people have been taking the piss out of Newcastle even before they had a footie team !

If you asked someone where Sunderland was they would say its a town near Newcastle, cos everyone knows where Newcastle is

Newcastle and Sunderland are both City's. Sunderland being the bigger of the two , actually Sunderland is the biggest city between Leeds and Glasgow.
Gateshead is a town South of the Tyne, historically once part of county Durham the same as Sunderland. Newcastle has always historically been part of a wasteland which is called Northumbria a baron lawless place where once upon a time they eat their own young and was the last place in the UK to be convert to Christianity some time in the early 20th century. Both Queen Victoria and John Wesley considered Newcastle to be the equivalent of Sodom and Gomorrah. Im not sure much has changed.

If you have a bigger City with a bigger population why cany you fill your smaller stadium?

As a Sunderland fan ,and the person who started this thread I think considering the fan base that both SAFC and NUFC have its a shocking indictment that neither of us have won any major trophy in recent history. I 48 years old and it was just before my 10th birthday when we won the cup.
