Will be disappointed if Ki goes to Villa, I know we have Gomez but would have loved to seen Ki back.

Why is it that only villa mentioned with regards to ki
surely after last season we should be the first in line for ki not villa jesus come on gus

This is typical of our club! we dithered over signing him in janurary dithered over other transfered and now go in for Alonso at the last minute. is our club being run properly from the top?. its never been the same since Nial Quinn left and Ellis Short need s to address this otherwise we are going to struggle and another frustrating season for the loyal fans!

Sorry. Yes Ki could pass and had a bit about him. However, I thought Ki was weak on the ball so got pushed off quite bit, struggled to tackle, and once he was out the team we started winning matches at the end of the season. This all points to why we are not trying to sign him!

Well you should have seen KI at the world cup he dominated South Koreas midfield and yes he can have the odd quiet game but he was one of the reasons why we have stayed up!

Please explain again how Ki was one of the reasons we stayed up???? We only started to win games once him and Bridcutt were not available!!!

I did see the world cup and it just reiterated my thoughts above . Good to look at but he is not a DCM. He played better further forward in a more attacking role where he did not have to tackle!

Sunderland mulling over former Crewe striker Max Clayton

This is on ssn. He has been training with the Sunderland squad for pre-season already apparently, but why are we looking at a 19 year old striker from Crewe? Surely we need to be looking more towards the experienced strikers that will easily adapt to the Premier League? Sort the first team out before mulling over youngsters for the future. Reportedly paying £1m for him too?

So were saying we should have absolutely no eye on the future then? Because we want a 19 year old we're incapable of also sorting the first team out at same time ?

Some of the comments on here are crazy. We buy 30 players last summer, everyone happy, it then nearly goes v wrong, we decide the club was reckless. This season, we learn from mistakes and now despite bringing more players in than a lot of clubs so far and with a month until new season we are accusing Poyet and Congleton of being clueless. Look into your history books at previous world cup pre seasons. People have unrealistic expectations, Poyet and Congleton proving to be far more accountable for the decisions they are making and deserve a bit more loyalty than this. I personally think were in good shape and fully expect gaps in the team to be filled. Ellis Short has done nothing other than to try and take the club to next level, that should be supported but with it comes risk, when I shudder at the memories of the football under Martin O'Neill they are risks that were worth taking.

Ed
Ki is off to Villa, that's the fu*king last straw

{Ed024's Note - A couple of sources are reporting that story - the main one being The Telegraph - Villa certainly need someone in the holding midfield role so could be true.}

i can see why people are getting worried!. its the fact other clubs even smaller clubs are going after and signing quality players and we are going down the bargain basement route?. I think Ellis Short should come out and reassure the Sunderland fans to what his vision for the club is! is he in it for the investment or truly interested in the club and its supporters?

Are they? Apart from West Ham i'm not sure there's many clubs down the bottom who are. Newspapers may give that impression but if you look at the endless list of internationals we have been linked with then its no different. Sunderland have made losses year after year well before Short and with a financial fair play now introduced we rightly need to be careful, money will be spent I have no doubt but were not a club that can waste it at the beginning of transfer window.
