More worried by the interview I just watched with Lee Congerton than lack of transfers. Can someone explain to me how it's ok to reduce a club legend to nothing more than a glorified babysitter. Bally removed from u21 post citing the excuse he needs knee op. But not to worry fix he' ll b checking accommodation ok for the players we send out on loan and working commercially with our sponsors in Africa. Personally think it's a disgrace we can treat someone who have us so much in this way. Always thought he was earmarked for the top job one day

I guess you don't know anyone who had their knee replaced, it can take a couple of years to get back to what you were, he won't be able to physically do the job he's been doing for a good while.
Also why is it turning him into a baby sitter giving him more range and knowledge of how other parts of the club work while he's physically unable to coach properly?
They've said time and again that they want to improve the kids coming through the academy & the coaches all the way along that process, yes it sucks he's not able to carry on as the under 21 manager, still it's better than him having to quit by a long shot.

Sorry but Bally will need time off for the op so someone else will need to step in. On top of that if they were looking to replace him they have at least kept him employed another club rather than firing him. I think the club have done well here and are looking out for him.

The sad fact is that when a new manager comes in he rarely keeps the old staff coaches etc and brings in his own team!. Bally has survived 3 manager changes and hell come out of this with huge credit! i'm suprised no team in the lower leuges has come in for him to manage them after his excellent u21 and reserve succeses! best of luck to him!

Ed what do you think on this transfer window

Are we not getting anyone or are the club just keeping a lid in things etc

{Ed024's Note - I'd be surprised if we didn't get a full back, centre back and a forward. I think that is the minimum requirement. Personally i think we need a third defender ideally who can play CB and full back - useful cover. I'd take Ki back as well - midfield looks OK but a couple of injuries could expose the squad.}

The lack of activity and ambition is a worry to me. I understand that we have been told it has been kept all hush hush at the SoL but it's going a bit far now. Irons in the fire or not the team are set to jet off for some warm weather training with a very depleted squad. Even our beloved bar codes are looking to sign/ have already signed some. In my opinion, quality players who can improve a squad whom should be looking at mid table

I think rednwhite you have hit on a raw common nerve with most Sunderland supporters!question i'd like to be answered!. if Gus has signed an extension to his contract surely money is avaible to spend but how much! and why hasn't Ellis Short come out and reassured supporters about this? surely the lessons of last season when because of a lack of quality we missed relegation by the skin of our teeth! and surely as a buisnesman Short knows we would lose a lot of money and investment if we went down next season! or IS Ellis Short interested in the football side! or is he going to sell up? time will tell!

please don't let us end up panic buying if whickham wants to go fair enough fletcher was not on form last season and was played while still recouperating altidore couldn't hit a barn door with his arse if he was sitting on the latch (lets hope that changes)

The way the USA played in the World Cup i'd take half their team . their energy levels in that heat were amazing!,,,besler good defender and quick too but many other clubs including Fulham are after him!

Agree2 Disagree3

{Ed024's Note - As Fulham are in Championship cant see him going there.}

Newspapers now say we are NOT likely to bid for him
