Ed is probably a talking horse and not some kind of oracle, he knows know more than anyone who can read a newspaper or listens to radio, tv and internet access is obvious as your on tinter web, what are chances of getting Wigan keeper probs a 50-50 answer, Parker please no, colback is a better option, if you have players looking for forward pass he will deliver, Parker is a Crab in every team he plays in, Colback is better player than many fans give credit, he has played LB, LW, RW, RB, CM. he gets blasted off fans saying he can't play with both feet and can't score goals in a team that finished 4th bottom. How many goals have Parker, M Carrick, scored in their careers. {Ed024's Note - I'm just off for a canter round the paddock.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Dont really understand most of the above but I think most fans who go to the game rate Colback as a good player, is technically a lot better than people realise so I think di canio will continue to improve him. His weakness is his strength when playing on centre mid and doesn't get in goalscoring positions but is certainly a tidy player and a far better player than gardner, vaughan and larsson.

Agree6 Disagree1

He's better at different things than those players. Certainly not better than Vaughan. Maybe better than Gardner at most and probably better than Larsson at everything but set pieces (though he did nothing last season!).

Agree2 Disagree0

Jack Passback

Agree5 Disagree5

Colback- no strength, no speed, no killer instinct, never commits to a tackle, always passes backwards, not a premiership footballer.

Agree5 Disagree15

Colback is a tidy player who works hard. He's not good enough to take us onwards and upwards though. Every time he's had the opportunity to play in his normal position, he's been too inconsistent. Exactly the same happened with Leadbitter!

aston villa offer nzogbia + 2mill for sesegnon. lambert is hoping sylla of aston villa can persuade sesegnon to join as he is a close friend to him and his family {Ed024's Note - Why ??}

Believable2 Unbelievable8

Change that to weimann and I would be happy {Ed024's Note - He signed a contract extension at Villa last week.}

Hi ed just wandering any news on diogo viana has he signed for another club and who do you actually think we will get and how many players we are likely to bring in {Ed024's Note - A few foriegn websites were reporting he'd signed for Vicente - but no official confirmation yet.}

16 Jun 2013 20:51:05
Ed if you had to say yes or no to each of the following players do you think we will get : Luis Cavanda, Lucas Orban, Mauro Zarate, Joshua Guilavogui, Antonio Candreva, Alessandro Rosina,
also which striker do you think {Ed024's Note - Yes, Maybe, Maybe, Yes, No, Maybe. Only my best guess.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Which striker do you think we will get then ED {Ed024's Note - Hooper maybe or Guidetti on loan }

Agree1 Disagree1

Probably realistic but in a good way.

Agree0 Disagree2

Well with all these foreign imports we need some uk players to balance the team !

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Jun 2013 20:59:17
I believe we need 2 strikers personally (if sess is going)and to offload graham - what strikers do you think would be reasonable to go for realistically?

1st TEAM. Defoe or Bony
BACKUP. Guidetti or vydra

Ed, if you had to say yes or no to each of the following players, do you think we'll get: Orban, Cavendra, Duncan, Hernandez, Dost, Zarate, Guilovogui, rose, biabiany and aubamayang? {Ed024's Note - In order - Maybe, Yes, No, No, No, Maybe, Yes, No, No and No}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Think we can get Rose {Ed024's Note - I think he'll end up at Everton or Liverpool}

Agree0 Disagree2

Liverpool have said they are going to stick with Enrique

Everton are targeting Southamptons Luke shaw or I can see Evra ending up at Everton with Baines going to Man U

BUT Everton are set to offer Baines and new deal worth a hell if a lot if money {Ed024's Note - If you were Baines and you were offer money at Everton or money at Man Utd - what would you do ?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, any other Yes's you want to predict that isn't in the list? {Ed024's Note - Maybe Foster to replace Migs.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Is that Ben foster or Fraser foRster {Ed024's Note - Fraser from Celtic}

Edd any truth in these parker rumours. it also looks like migs is a gonner so good luck to him. Westwood will do very good for us {Ed024's Note - PDC has enquired about Parker - no more info than that I'm afraid.}

Cavandra- (Lazio) 3m / look favourites to sign him

Duncan- (inter) 8.5m / Di Canio wants him and will probably up the bid to get him

Zarate- (Lazio) free from 10th July / already linked with him, and his agent has confirmed he is interested in a premier league move

Rose, Parker, Defoe- (Spurs) 18m / Di Canio had already stated his intention to get Danny Rose due to his superb performances with us last season. Parker has been told he is sulprus to requirements at Spurs and we have been linked with us in the past few days, will certainly add a bit of passion to the team.
Defoe, again, he has been told he won't be needed next season at Spurs, very quick and a fantastic striker

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Now that would be a brilliant team Defoe is amazing top class goal scorer

Agree2 Disagree2

Defoe is an amazing diver, but don't think he will come up here.

Agree5 Disagree0

Defoe will never come to NE. Would love it if hedid sign for us but more chance of me winning this weeks Euro

Agree3 Disagree0

Diver?

Agree3 Disagree0

Johnson did

Agree2 Disagree0

Yes defoe is a diver and a cheat.

Agree2 Disagree2

What I think the team will look like next season

Westwood
Cavanda Diakite O'shea Orban
N'diaye Guilavogui
Johnson Zarate
Fletcher Hooper

(i hope)

Agree0 Disagree0

Why does everyone keep puttin o'shea in their ideal team? Did any of you go to the games he was terrible he's too slow and can't pas for s**t!

For 10 mil I would carry Migs to Anfield had one good season for us and is still suspect but I will wish him all the best and hope to god PDC spends that money wisely. Don't want Jason Steele would rather give Westwood his chance but I would go for schwartzer or Even Brad Friedal

Believable3 Unbelievable4

10m is a f*****g joke for mignolet why is it every time we really want to sign a player the club that own's the player stick's to their valuation and we end up pay that but are board first offer (accept may not come back with another offer) FFs have a backbone and get a fair price for one of the best keeper's in Europe (look at fat mike up the road know's f**k all about running a football club but alway's get's top dollar for his player's) if Liverpool are only prepared to go to 10m I would rather keep mignolet for another season and then sell I know we may only get 5m then but he's not going to throw a strop and play crap because he will want to make the Belgium squad for brazil and those extra point's that he earn's us may equate to 3/4 million in money for position's and give us enough time to find a suitable replacement

Agree2 Disagree1

16 Jun 2013 16:36:25
Just a thought, but what about an offer for Anders Lindegaard?

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Should give Westwood a chance, he's a decent keeper

Agree9 Disagree2

Westwood's a cracking goalie, will do great for us given the opportunity. i'm MORE than happy for him to be our No. 1 next season.

Craig gordon is still available!

It is unluckily though

Liverpool fan coming in peace. Just wanted to know how much you all rate Mignolet as he is 'close' to sign for LFC according to numerous sources. Views from the Sunderland based ed as well as Sunderland fans will be appreciated.

Cheers
VGRed {Ed024's Note - I rate Migs in top 3 in premiership - his one weakness is his lack of physical presence - he doesnt intimidate forwards - but shot stopping, positioning, communication - top notch.}

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Youve got a good one but still has improvements to make. Either way an excellent professional who I have no hard feelings against, no transfer request came from him and can understand his argument when wrestling with Courtois for belgian number 1 spot. Good luck to him.

Agree3 Disagree0

Hello Liverpool,
You need one of two things to survive in the Premiership if you're 'playing' at being professional;
a) a cracking defence and an average keeper
b) an average defence and a cracking keeper.
We had the latter last season - looks like you lads will get the best part of that. Well done if you get him, he'll serve you proud.
Just as an aside, we're not 'playing' at being professional up here any more.
Look forward to next season.

Agree3 Disagree0

Near perfect in the league this season. A brilliant professional and seems like a great lad. Best of luck to him, just wished we could have got more money from it

Agree1 Disagree1

The best keeper in the league last season. We would of been relegated if it wasn't for him

Agree3 Disagree0

Great keeper, shame his ambition seems to be to play in the Europa league for the most part cause Liverpool won't finish top 4 anytime soon.

Agree3 Disagree2

Hi lads every one so sad migs is going let him go we still have a very good keeper in westwood 12m in the bank. go out and buy a young keeper for back up to westwood.

Agree1 Disagree0

Thank you guys for your response. Well you all seem to rate him pretty highly so well, atleast I will be very happy if this deal goes through, as will many other reds!
Thank you for your replies all of you including ed024, I hope you have a cracking window and then a great season.

Cheers
VGRed {Ed024's Note - Our pleaseure - good luck in all your games - except 2, obviously}

to be honest it doesn't look much stronger then previous seasons so hope I am wrong {Ed024's Note - Bit early to comment on strength of a team ....... half of them arnt signed nevermind played together}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Still think we will get rose

Agree3 Disagree2

That's true ed. I didn't mean likely team. What I meant was the most realistic from the players we have linked with. our team will probably look nothing like that come august but if it does then on paper we won't have strengthened the team much

16 Jun 2013 13:28:38
Migs is on his way, a shame but hey ho. We have a class second keeper in Westwood. Why waste big money on a keeper no better than what we have got, PDC probably realises this by letting Migs go.

Duncan - 7mil
Ba - free
Cabal - free
Diakite - free

Vaughan - 2mil
Brown - 1mil

Total 30mil

Believable0 Unbelievable5

No way will Aubameyang move to Sunderland, or Guiseppe Rossi. Zarate won't be moving for free. Only Hull would take that crock Brown and MBia was one of QPRs worst players last season.

Why are we asking for so little for Mignolet? I don't understand why these negotiations aren't being done on our terms

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Didn't Liverpool only offer £6.5m initially?

Agree0 Disagree1

Hi liverpool want to pay 8m for mignolet but sunderland want 10 plus 2m add on's I can not see mignolet going to liverpool if pepe reina stay's there or will he go just for the money and sit on the bench and play second fiddle to reina. {Ed024's Note - I think if Migs goes, Reina must be leaving ...surley ?}

Agree1 Disagree0

Hi ed reina has said he is not leaving liverpool he whants to stay. {Ed024's Note - I fancy him off to Arsenal if Migs arrives.}

I think these goalie transfer talks could happen next season. Because reina is linked with Barcelona but Valdez used he'll do 1 more season w barca. So next season Valdez retire, reina 2 barca and MIGs to liverpool

a lot of posts on here saying people like graham bardsley mclean gardener sess are on their way. in my opinion unless any of these players want to go or we get an offer we can't turn down which seems highly unlikely they will be here next season. we all know that anyone of these players on their day are good players but for some reason under mon their form dipped or almost faded away under a resurgent pdc with his training methods these lads can return to some of the better form that we used to see. bardsley was regarded as one of our best players till mon came along with mclean who was outstanding till a certain steve guppy got his hands on him. gardener with his aggressive play to me was outstanding in the middle some of his passing was top notch and was also versatile dropping into defence. as for graham its hard to knock his commitment last season run his socks off held the ball up well just needed the players to feed off him and a goal to get his confidence. will do well but only concern is I don't think he can link up with fletch would be better off with sess who I have left till last where could we sign someone like sess for the money we would get for him (now 29 so would be lucky to get 4mill) we started to see the sess we know when pdc came in he is one of those frustrating players who on his day is as good as anyone in the premiership and hopefully if he stays we will see the sess we all know. finally if we move on a load of our first squad with the experience they have and rely on all the young talent we are trying to get in from the continent it could all go tits up. so its my opinion like we all have on here is to keep the players we have bring in the few bosmans that we have done to bolster the squad along with a couple of big name players to make us a bigger and better squad. some will agree and some won't what do you think ed

one gary rowell {Ed024's Note - Hard to disagree with most of what you say - but I think given the comments made by PDC it will be the players he thinks have poor attitude/work ethic that will get moved on.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

So much love for this post, its a squad not just the 1st team - our main issue last season was no cover for the 1st team, there's no point selling good squad players for no money and retaining the risk of using below-par / inexperienced players as cover

Agree2 Disagree1

Disagree with both these posts and can't even be bothered to go into detail. {Isnt it easy to disagree and offer no explanation !!!!} Is 2 supporters content with mediocre. And your assessment of Gardner is almost scary, his passing is woeful and I have to question how often you attended games last season. i'm also surprised ed you agree with this. {Ed024's Note - I do like to surprise - what would your solution be ..... only if you can be bothered to go into detail mind.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok ed youve given me a challenge, to put into context I missed 3 games home and away last season. let's assess the initial comment: Bardsley - been a good servant to the club, can't fault commitment but is a very poor premier league right back obsessed with hoofing a long ball, his 1 good season oddly enough was playing out of position at left back. Had a dreadful season last year and let himself down immediately after Di Canio joined. McClean - A disgrace to the club with his behaviour, has no pace and his one and only trick which gave him initial success has been well and truly found out. Gardner - is woeful in centre mid, passing poor, not strong on the ball and mentally weak, covered by ability to score a screamer and a penalty but if he was that good we wouldn't have been able to afford to move him right back most of season where he was forgivably poor also. Sessegnon - all the ability in the world and if he could pass, shoot and cross he'd be at barcelona but despite proving to be just about only player any good on the ball and exciting to watch, he was poor for most of last season and cost us games. To prove i'm not just an angry individual - Players I think will improve and do well under Di Canio: N'Diaye, Colback, Johnson, Fletcher. I apologise to previous fans for my initial comment but I'm passionate about the fact that the club rightly realises EVERYTHING must change in the club despite pathetic gentlemans club like savage, shearer, hanson, lawrenson, dixon trying to criticise us for it and I applaud Ellis Short. If we rely on some of these players to have major roles next season then we will struggle badly. Ed am I forgiven? (Or you fallen asleep reading this long response) {Ed024's Note - No wide awake - and a cracking response - I only disagree over Gardner he doesnt always play to the best of his ability , partly due to being played out of position but at least he has the ability, I like his heart also - I'd give him another season.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh my god and nearly forgot my assessment of danny graham -overweight, slow, lathargic, poor finisher, poor in the air. Definitely a wrongun and clear why couldn't get in swansea team. isn't even an option on the bench because can't see how he could come on and make a difference. {Ed024's Note - Always played in a struggling team - I think he has a bit to offer - we'll only sell if we get some decent strikers in.}

Agree0 Disagree0
