Georgino Wijnaldrum is high on Paolos list

Believable7 Unbelievable5

Wijnaldrum would be awsome for us.

I really think we need a big money signing

Believable7 Unbelievable0

I agree a big money signing is needed, I can't beleive we can't compete with hull, cardiff and southampton in the transfer market, big money is needed to bring the quality midfeilder paulo craves.

Osvaldo has gone to Southampton!
Lambert and him upfront, fu*k we need to be at our best next week

Believable8 Unbelievable0

Agree, just been thinking actually the same thing, maybe gamble on sat and put sess in the middle instead of larsson and jozy and wickham up front.

Agree5 Disagree1

Don't we have 60m to spend
We've only spent around 7m aswell as all the wages so like 15-20m spent in total
We need a fabregas like playmaker, we need to spend like 15m on one

Any suggestions??

Agree4 Disagree1

I agree with the first bit of the post however Sess isn't a centre midfield player. If we need a bit more bite then use Gardner there.

Agree1 Disagree1

To be honest I think these posts smack of panic. There genuinely wasnt a lot wrong with us yesterday and although a couple of additions would be nice I would not suggest vital and think with another week after a taster of premier league football we'll give another very good account against an impressive Southampton, but are they a better team than us? Not for me. What you think Ed?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed024's Note - I think we'll give Southampton a good game - but need more quality in the balls into the final third, PDC after a creative midfielder, I for one hope he gets one.}

Gardner goes in midfield and just disappears out the game

Agree3 Disagree0

I think we should go all out for rasmus elm from cska. Quality playmaker. Just what we need.

Agree1 Disagree1

The worry is because
Altidore was doing Larssons job so there was no body that could tap in Giacc's and Johnson's crosses in

Agree1 Disagree1

I was gunna say Elm as well!!

Agree1 Disagree1

Jacka and johnno never put a decent ball in all game! Just need someone who can put the ball into altidores feet and play off him

Dave the mackem

Agree1 Disagree2

Dave the Mackem The ball was regularly played into jozys feet, Johnson had a very good game with some dangerous crosses and giaccherini clearly has ability with the ball at his feet. Fans frustrate me, some people booed them off at he end, I for one clapped them because that's the kind of football I've wanted to watch Sunderland play for years. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say it wasnt our day. I've never felt so disgruntled watching us last season, surely there can only be optimism with performances like that. i'm going to say the same thing again and again, there isn't much wrong with us and i'm looking forward to my trips to Southampton and Palace where i'm hopeful of 2 further strong performances.

Agree3 Disagree0

What happened to the mateo kavacic rumour, would love to see him at sunderland he's young top class and a move would suit him to get his name around for bigger clubs in a few years and it would be a great signing for us to maybe beak us into the top 6-10, anyone agree? Jonny

Bardsley will be released if he has not found a club by the end of the transfer window.

Cattermole is same has above. But he is lucky is attracting interest from Fulham, QPR, Hull, Stoke and a Turkish Club.

Vaughan is off to Crystal Palace.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

He's got a broken foot so he won't leave this window!

Agree4 Disagree0

Bardsley is a disgrace

Agree7 Disagree0

Why release Bardsley? He will want his contract paid up. Keep him till Jan. then sell. Di Canio could try to teach Cattermole to stay on his feet when tackling. If successful Cattermole would fit into the current system.

Agree8 Disagree3

I agree Catts should be kept and at least tried out in the system next to cabral. As for Bardsley I was hoping he was going to come back, however after his last escapade I would make him rot. I hope he never plays for this club ever again. He is not fit to wear the shirt.

Gareth Barry is obvious best option for midfield, if four forwards are preferred, as against Fulham. Someone like Defoe would fit in with Altidore.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Jack rodwell

7SAFC7

Agree7 Disagree0

Jack Rodwell would be ideal, but too expensive, even on loan.

Agree2 Disagree2

I wouldn't take gareth barry if they paid us he's a horrendous footballer woth the best publicist in the world, all hype no action, jonny

Milner's favourite position is CM
he just gets played on the wing because there is Toure, Silva, Nasri, Fernandinho, etc in the middle, he played a few games during Pre season at CM and he was good, set up plenty of chances and goals and got a few himself, so now Navas is playing on the wing he won't get a game
Not a bad shout

Believable1 Unbelievable2

We have no chance of getting Milner, keep it realistic, we'll get some unknown for a couple of mill, s left back from juve and hopefully get Fletcher back asap. thought we played well yesterday, with Fletcher back well pick up points.

Agree3 Disagree0

Can you honestly put your hand on ya heart and say we would get Giaccherini

Agree1 Disagree1

I think that when fletch is back sess will take up larrssons position and we will go with fletch and altidore which I believe has goals in it. I also think that the Juve left back could be a shrewd move.

close friend of pdc has said that fred from shaktar donetsk is his main target to fill in the void in the centre of play and that colback will most likely be his lb option

Believable3 Unbelievable3

What is he like

Agree0 Disagree0

So we in talks with someone from juve to play lb but we are going to play colback there what a load colback looked ok yesterday but he was never tested he will come up against some class right wingers and will get shown up as for fred I think its time you went to bed

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance! He only signed for shaktar in June.

Agree0 Disagree0

Are we on about the same FRED here? Indeed there is a FRED who signed for Shakhtar in June however there is another FRED who is also Brazilian but is a 29 yr old centre forward. He is the FRED who currently plays for Brazil. He would be OK mind however he was homesick and went back to Brazil a couple of years ago. VERY CONFUSING but a good thread none the less.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fred flintstone or flintoff more like.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed024's Note - Fred upfront with Barney, Wilma sweeping - you could be onto something.}

Work colleague from London tells me rumours are rife that we are in talks with Spurs to sign Benoit Assou Ekotto.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

Paolo De Ceglie will be are LB come the end of the transfer window and should form a decent left side with Gaiccherini.

Okay we need a big money signing which is a playmaker, for me it has to be James Milner, he fits everything Di Canio wants in his search

Believable3 Unbelievable8

James mccathy man 4 cm, still need lb, 2 centre forwards 4 me. need forward in kevin Phillips mold, play off and around big jozy. keep faith back team, it fall into place. topcat

Agree4 Disagree1

James Milner is not a playmaker. He is a hard working wide man. He would cost around £10 million also. So not a chance.

Agree5 Disagree2

Have you got his picture on the wall mate a couple of reasons we won't sign him is city would want between 15 t 20 mill and his wages are way out of our structure so forget about him and take his picture down

Agree1 Disagree1

I think sessegnon should play CM with his ability to pass and dribble past players he is the playmaker we need in there. That allows us to buy another striker with pace dare I say Hernandez from man utd?. He's top draw born finisher with loads of pace. He wasn't even on the bench yesterday. Would 15mil and regular football every week be enough?

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed024's Note - Hernandez .........more chance of Insigne !!!}

Hernandez wages would be to much for us but I agree he is wasted at man utd. Think our reach would be somone for 5 to 8mil range not 15mil.

Agree1 Disagree0

Milner is not a bad shout. He is the last year of his contract at City and wouldn't cost nowhere near 15 to 20 million. He is adaptable to centre midfield. The other option for me and a far cheaper English alternative and again running down his City contract is Gareth Barry. Yes he is 32 but it would buy us a year or two until we can develop someone like Billy Knott.

Agree0 Disagree3

Milner is not a cm. a cm is a playmaker, for example scholes, lampard, gerrard etc. so please forget about milner. we need a playmaker

Agree1 Disagree2

Actually Ed, Hernandez isn't a bad shout, remember we were willing to pay for Insigne, his agent wanted him to come to us but he preferred to stay at Naples (Poor decision)

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed024's Note - Hernandez will stay at Man Utd - we had an outside chance of a loan deal for Insigne, we don't for Hernandez.}

How about Jack Rodwell.

Agree2 Disagree0

Pretty sure milner played cm at villa with downing and young out wide!

Agree2 Disagree1

Anderson man utd loan?

Agree0 Disagree1

What about Sulley Muntari (I can imagine the flack I'm going to get for suggesting this!)?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think we need another LB, Colback has shown that he is up to the job lately and it won't be fair to take that opportunity away from him

I think we just need a BIG money move for a Playmaker

Believable5 Unbelievable4

And if colback gets injured?

Agree3 Disagree2

Was at the game yesterday mate and thought colback was excellent but then again he was never put under any pressure and if you took notice he has an awful habit of drifting into the centre but I would definatley push the boat out to keep him as he is an excellent squad player.

Agree2 Disagree0

Would still prefer to have Danny rose
