Well if he wants to stay I'm not heart broken
Yeah I would love him back but you can also get a much better player for 14m

Believable7 Unbelievable0

{Ed024's Note - If Liverpool tell him he is 5th choice he may come by default - if this is the case then I think we should invest the £14M elsewhere. With that amount of cash we could get Lukaku or Sow.}

Well when you put it like that ed…
DONT SIGN BORINI!

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed024's Note - We need the facts thou - if you believe everything you read we've had three sets of discussions with Liverpool before agreeing a fee - but apparently Borini nor his agent knew anything about it ????? I doubt that ...there's a lot of rubbish being reported - why would anyone stay where they are clearly not wanted ???}

It's silly tbh
Are Sunderland really that bad that he'd prefer to play for the reserves?!?!

Lots of rumours on twitter saying borini has turned us down.

So Borini played for Liverpool today (dodgy) and his agent says he wants to stay at the scoucers (even more dodgy). I hope everyone hasn't counted their chickens before they have hatched!

Look, he was a good player for us last season but is 7 goals really enough return for 14million, and which half were pens, I for one don't think so. I like the lad but I do think there are better more prolific strikers out there which 14million would be a snip.

If we do get Borini, however, we really need to sign some more creative attacking midfield to compliment his style and maybe he can prove me wrong. let's hope so.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

I'm 50/50 with this

If we are paying 14m for him to play as a left Midfeild he is not worth it, but if he is to play up front he is completely worth it, he is so dangerous in the box, he scored in 1 in 5 shots and a lot of them shots were from outside the box
Not to mention we were 20th for most of the season
As a striker, he would get us +15goals a season, but if he is a winger I would prefer us to get someone like that Rodriquez fella from Atletico Madrid that we are looking at

I know were after alonso but with Tottenham in for the swansea left back where does that leave danny rose?

Agree4 Disagree0

Borini has refused to come to Sunderland. He wants to earn himself a place in the Liverpool side. I honestly think we should move on as e has said he doesn't want to come twice. So try and go for another striker. He ain't worth 14 mill tbh. Any thoughts on other strikers?

Agree3 Disagree0

There's also been talk from them that he does want to come & is pushing the deal through, I don't believe either, also he scored 10 for us, 7 in the league 3 in the league cup.

As for the 14mil, it's supposed to be a lot lower with lots of extras added on paid back over a few years which isn't as bad, if he scores another 10-15 this season he'll be more than worth it.

That being said, he's not the only winger/striker in the world & there's only so much time left before the season, hopefully we've a plan b & c never mind d, e & f.

14 mil for Borini is a ridiculous fee. Good player but consider Remy is available for 8.5 mil. Most of us agree we need Borini but this is a step too far when it means most of our budget will be blown on this transfer. Surely no one will disagree?

Believable5 Unbelievable6

{Ed024's Note - Assumption is Remy is £8.5M because that is his release clause figure for a champions league team. The figure could be higher.......that said I'd take Borini in front of Remy every day of the week. Do you remember Remy's performance for the Mags at the SOL last season .....No.......nobody does.}

19 Jul 2014 15:18:29
Agree with kmo the fee is ridiculous .and other media reports suggests they are suprised aswell!. the only thing is it might attract other players to Sunderland . time will tell whether Borini will repay this huge fee!. and why aren't other premier clubs in for him if he is worth that fee .!

Agree2 Disagree3

We could of done with 3 or 4 more borini's on the pitch last year, by far our most outstanding player consistantly. for 14m i'd snatch their hand off. you know what your getting with borini, instead of risking it on some unproven player.

Agree2 Disagree1

borini not coming to sunderland he has told liverpool that he whants to go back to serie A or see out he's last two years of he's contract this is from di marzio

Guys - Most of you will know that two Newcastle fans lost their lives in the Malaysian plan crash. A real tragedy.

Take a look at this - http://www.gofundme.com/brx6wk

Great effort from the lads that set it up

Okay okay we are all buzzing that Borini might be returning home and that we might actually be signing someone but we are paying double his worth, we could get someone better for 14m, and if we are actually short on funds this is kinda throwing what ever money we have away

Believable9 Unbelievable5

{Ed024's Note - It is steep, but £2M is said to be in add ons - that could be him staying for the length of his contract, or us staying in the EPL. If it was £10M no one would blink - I'm happier we pay it - we know exactly what we are getting.}

Are you never happy Mr M you were moaning the other day, we were not spending, now your moaning that we have, the ed's right we know what we are getting with him, he has experience rather that than pay for someone with no experience in epl.

Agree1 Disagree8

I don't know why we chewing on about the fee here we agreed to pay it so the club think he's worth it, it also proves that Ellis is willing to splash the cash let's just be thankful we bringing him home, him n Conner were starting to gel and with fletcher hopefully fully fit and Jozy hopefully having a better second season and jonno and jacky looking good towards the end of the season going forward is looking better

Agree4 Disagree1

I'm "buzzing" but just remember that Borini isn't the only player we need bringing in this summer. We need 3/4 defenders in, 1 or 2 midfielders in and depending how our 3 strikers do in pre season, possibly another forward

I'm so happy that we've got/getting Borini but you need to look at the bigger picture, he ain't worth 14m and the club has already said that there isn't that much money to spend, when you look at the amount of players we need in still compared to the amount if money we've spent now, the majority of the players that could come in ade more likely to be loans or cheap buys…unless we start selling again, which is a bad idea

Agree9 Disagree1

{Ed024's Note - No chance of getting 3 or 4 defenders in - 2 at most.

Liverpool have agreed to sell Fabio Borini to Sunderland, according to ssn.

The 23-year-old, who enjoyed a successful season-long loan at Sunderland last term, is set to move for a fee believed to be around £14million.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

18 Jul 2014 22:17:00
oh yes just on ssn. Borini fee agreed 14 million

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed024's Note - We still need to agree personal terms - not quite over the line yet.}

19 Jul 2014 01:33:20
and that he want to sign for us

Agree2 Disagree0

11 mil for ross mc Cormack or 12 mil (plus add ons) for borini, no contest in my opinion, all football deals are ridiculous but in borinis case its his potential as well as work ethic and professionalism SAFC have bought! get behind the lad!
