According to borini's agent he want to stay at Liverpool, fair enough. Think I'd go for sow.
Fletcher, sow, whickham and altidore then wait till January and see if altidore has figured out what that thing is with posts and a net. Then maybe try and get borini on a discounted price when he realised he's not kicked a ball in 6 months

A harsh yet somewhat realistic view of the season ahead. Borini will be 5th choice at best as a striker and Altidore will maybe play a bit better but won't score for toffee.

I think Altidore will come good next season and as for Fletch hell score goals as long as he keeps fit but we need another striker!. as for Borini if he doesn't want to come here .we need to close this issue and look else where

Agree4 Disagree2

Fletcher, altidore, whickham. Are Last years misfits the best we can do. we need a decent striker and forget all these loan players. we are just grooming them for other clubs and if we want to sign them after a decen. t season we pay thru the nose

borini will sign after he plays against roma.
Alonso will also sign, And yet again hull will beat us to another transfer in danny rose.

Really Borini?, Origi, Sturridge and Remy and they are also after Edinson Cavani, how are you ment to get first team football?, but don't come crying to us if you can't get first team football! I would rather go for Sow

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed024's Note - Looks like Borini will also be behind Lambert and Sterling. I think he'll be Capital Cup only, that said he has a good record in that competition.}

21 Jul 2014 21:54:36
Listen, borini and his agent aren't daft, the more they milk this the more money we will likely offer. They must be thinking if we're willing to pay 14 mill transfer then we're willing to go big with wage. I still think we'll see him up here next season

Good to see that we now have a sensible recruitment strategy and safe hands managing transfers- no more false alarms, surprise rejections, protracted pursuits of reluctant targets. And unlike previous windows, we are not sitting on our hands while players that would improve the squad move all around us at relatively modest fees to destinations we can't believe seem more attractive to them than SoL. Thank God we aren't going to look like the the most clueless administration on the Premier League again, because it was all rather depressing.

Not sure if telling truth or being sarcastic

{Ed024's Note - Sarcasm methinks.}

Very droll sums it up so well

Get Alonso (wants move)
Get CB (need one)
and get a CM (to replace the likes of Cabral & Colback etc)

I hate to come on here and be negative and I won't mention the topic on everyone's lips but forgive me if i'm wrong are we struggling to put together the team that narrowly avoided the drop last year as I for one don't see a massive improvement in the squad
i know we suffered injuries to key players but we havn't gone after anyone who makes me think my god I hope we get him or am I alone in that

100% agree. Things need to change and fast as the season starts in few weeks. Why try to buy the same players that almost took us down. Wise up Sunderland or this time we might not be so lucky. More quality please!

Agree with above 2 posts this lack of urgency is worrying and remember we haven't even started the 5 traditional loan players we get in! good managers would say to Borini make yr mind up now! move on Gus and look elswhere otherwise well be made a laughing stock!

Dissapointed as Jordan hasn't been given a chance here!. and what happens if we have an injury to Mans or Pants what happens then?

Agree0 Disagree3

. but bobstokoe1973 is it not better young Jordan gets a season of regular first team football [after all I am sure SAFC will have insisted on this].

Agree3 Disagree0

. as you yourself say CP and VM are ahead of him in the pecking order. Perhaps we can find someone who is experienced enough to provide back up to them both.

Yes put him out on loan for experiance but a full season? no i'd give him till Janurary at most

22 Jul 2014 19:21:28
Ok then bobstokoe1973 bring him back in January. Then what?

If these players don't want to come why are we bothering personally I would forget about borini and alonso. It looks as if Danny rose is available who would bring a lot more to the table and concentrate on bringing another striker in!

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Alonso obta stats wer very good last season. they wer in the top 5 for most catagories. I prefer him to rose (just) if alonso or borini aren't cumin then poyet will prob already kno and have a back up plan.

This is from a very respected and accurate poster on our site macca

20 Jul 2014 12:07:46I believe Borini has already bought his house in Sunderland. So expect the move to happen. CheersMacca

all is not lost for you guys

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Well if Borini has already bought his house in Sunderland then he is going to be a pretty lonely boy as none of the Sunderland squad either currently or within the last twenty years live anywhere near the city.

Borini has posted in twitter that he's arrived in boston for the Liverpool tour and the second one said he can't wait to start the season with Liverpool and play in the champions league. He wants to stay for a chance of playing in the champs league. Move on get someone else in Lukaku? Ffs ballotelli fee is 16mil so we can get Much better for 14mil

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I'm guessing we have around 23-27m to spend after sales (Poyet came out and said the players on the fringes will be sold and they know who they are)
And rather than spending over half that on Borini we could build a really good squad on a few of these possible additions (been linked with)
Alonso-1.5m + Diakite
Zouma-Loan
Rodwell-Loan
Rodriguez-6m
Sow-9.5m (€12m buy out clause)
Milner-8m
Vergini-500k

I know for a fact that we have 0% chance of getting all of these players but 3 or 4 of these would be brilliant for us,
