poyet is at the sol now

Believable5 Unbelievable7

Well done Bally tricky cup tie 2-0 happy with that!

Agree11 Disagree2

Really not sure about him prefer Zola or DM!

Agree5 Disagree3

I love Bally me top bloke. Hope we beat Liverpool and he can throw he's hat in the ring.

Agree11 Disagree1

Poyet hope not. Mad as dcanio

Agree4 Disagree2

No he is not there.

Agree1 Disagree3

Oh yes he is

Agree2 Disagree1

He's behind you.

Agree2 Disagree2

Poyet's tactics are identical to MON's.

Do not be expecting any flash football under him. He will come in and spend most of his time working with the defense.

He will make you very difficult to score against, but do not be expecting much going on up at the other side of the pitch.

To be fair that is probably a good thing, that is the type of football the other lower teams are playing.

Agree0 Disagree2

'Do not expect any flash football under him. He will come in and spend most of his time working with the defense. ' - Fantastic, how many clean sheets have we managed this season? Is our defense not our main problem this season to date?

Agree2 Disagree0

Brighton has the tightest defense in the Championship last season, if I am not mistaken.

Agree1 Disagree0

The main problem this season is the lack of quality on the field!

With people saying Gary Neville as manager, but I would rather have him as our no2 and a expirenced manager as our boss

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Neville and bally seems a pretty good partnership

what does everyone think about Carl Robinson from MK Dons young manager and I think he would fit the job well and MK Dons tortured us in the cup for 85 mins

Sunderland should go for Vincenzo Montella an excellent up and coming manager if they want to stick with the Italian methods.

What do you think Ed!

Believable2 Unbelievable4

{Ed024's Note - I'd prefer an English manager with EPL experience. It worries me that we seem to be considering Poyet who has no EPL management experience and RDM who was sacked after 6 months of his first EPL season.}

Pulis is the guy

Agree6 Disagree7

Avram Grant maybe worth a shout

Agree4 Disagree9

How about bring back Peter Reid for cover

Agree3 Disagree9

Team for Tonight i'd play

Mannone, Roberge Oshea, Cuella, Coleback. Larsson, Karlsson, Cattermole , Cabral , Borini, Alitidore. 4-4-2 Subs Westwood, Johnson, Wicham, JI, kI Ba

Agree1 Disagree5

Agree with that we need a british influence on this team whether its training players or even scouts. worrying thing is that we still have the same Italian scouts at the club the ones that brought us the rubbish we have! the whole team needs sorting from board level downwards. why is it that the loyal supporters have to put up with this year after year and 3 managers down the line we are at stage one again!. Ellis Short has to do some explaining to the supporters!

Agree0 Disagree0

The worrying thing Ed is that few managers what to come here!.

Agree1 Disagree0

The Big Question for me is WHY is DI Fanti and Angelini still at the club!?

Agree2 Disagree2

Seen klinsmanns name around the betting, would love him but has very little club experience but he's done well with both germany and usa, could be worth a punt

I intended to post this last night when the rumours developed. Two of the leading candidates - Di Matteo and Poyet are thought to have expressed concerns about the job. Neither is believed to want the job, largely because they will be forced to work under a Director of Football and therefore, not have control over transfers.

Short is also determined to limit spending in January, with the Sunderland wage bill among the top ten in the country. He (and the Board and DoF) remain determined to persist with the philosophy of developing younger players, rather than established "stars". The DoF will continue to deal with transfer spending.

The financial constraints mean that Sunderland also prefer to look at those managers out of work, to avoid any further expenses. I understand that Steve Maclaren is now the leading contender for the post; Short is known to be an admirer of his coaching ability. Nevertheless, Maclaren suffered a frustrating time at Notts Forest, working for a similar structure.

Don't rule out someone like Reid being asked to manage the club until the summer

Believable0 Unbelievable2

I'd rather have Reid than McClaren, McLeish or Pulis!

Agree4 Disagree0

Apparently it's Ince & Zola
Zola has said he is flattered

Agree2 Disagree1

Pulis wouldn't be a bad move if ya think about it
Brings the best out of players, great defence, fearless, good at set peices, make SOL a fortress and we will be feared at home, and ENGLISH

Agree0 Disagree3

You forget pulis is also a kn*b and plays long ball footy and his stoke team were a set of bullies, no thank you!

Agree2 Disagree0

Poster 4, Pulis is Welsh not ENGLISH, GYFR.

Agree1 Disagree0

May get slaughtered for this but the board have made it clear they want to control signings and want a track suited Coach, then I would love to see either Rene Muelensteen or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, either individually or as a team.

Agree2 Disagree0

Well I was in reading last year and stoke were stopping in the same hotel. I had a good bit of crack with tony pulis and he is nothing like a K**b the guy comes over like one of the lads and I reckon he would do a good job at the sol

Agree1 Disagree2

Apparently Zola & Ince are in the running

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Think Zola maybe worth a punt not sure about nice, fair do's he's doing ok at blpool but he didn't do well at bburn, the daily mirror doesn't shed us in a very good light making us an unattractive place from the outside looking in.

Agree3 Disagree0

The likelihood is that you are going down.

Guess what happens when you get relegated and you want to shift out all those players? Do you think any other clubs are going to offer any of your players a better deal to leave you, especially after they got you relegated? That means players hanging on for their paychecks which you cannot shift, that means you cannot bring in fresh faces and the payroll is already full. Most of your players are all on new contracts too, meaning most of them are with you for the next 3/4 years, minimum.

Wigan were lucky in that they had some young players coming through but your situation is much different, the side you have assembled is a mid-table championship side, you will have to use all your parachute payments to basically survive paying all the current players that nobody else will want.

The only asset you have that you may be able to sell is Fletcher, and believe me when I say this, with his injury record, age and your precarious position - you will likely have to take 6 million for him. Some of you may scoff at that, but, ask yourselves will Fletcher want to stay if you go down?

Can your club afford to do a QPR and bring in a top quality manager and buy yet another squad, again? Your owner isn't bad, be he is no Fernandes.

You are right on the brink of disaster here, if you stay up it will not only be another season in the Premier League, it could secure your long term future, but, if you go down; it could take as long as 5 years until you are ready to mount a challenge in the Championship.

If you are in the Championship for more than 2 years you will find it nearly impossible to get out. These parachute payments give relegated Premier League clubs an unfair edge to bounce back. This of course could have worked for you, but PDC went out and gambled everything on one roll of the dice.

Agree2 Disagree4

Sorry but this is a poor effort at a post. All of our players will have relegation clauses in their contracts to reduce their wages by up to 40% if we were relegated.

If you couple that with the parachute payments then financial issues are not an issue providing you can gain promotion.

If you look at our deluded colleagues up the road they did not have these clauses, silly them, but still managed to offload 5 high earners and return back to the PL with considerable ease.

Please, if you are going to try and sound intelligent, have some knowledge behind your comments!

Agree1 Disagree0

Seriously deluded Maggie or what. So you think everything is rosy at the 03 Arena. All we have done is sacked a manager, happens all the time son. You've just lost at home to the mighty Hull, your stuck with Pardwho for another 7 years, your stuck with Joke Kinnear for God knows how long, not to forget Ashley. You are the only club in the history of the Premier League to go a whole summer transfer window without buying a player, you wear Wonga on your shirts and you rent your ground. And we think we've got problems? Your bedsheets will be out soon enough bonny lad!

Agree4 Disagree0

Bla bla bla bla bla bla - Mag alert! Coz all the above didn't happen at Sid James Park when they went down did it? What a load of tosh! Bing

Agree2 Disagree0

Is the above long essay from the deluded one for real? we spent 19m and recouped 20m off sales, oh yes we will struggle for money honestly! haha what a tool you are, 5 games in yes we have had a bad start but also have had no luck so far, don't know what will happen the next 33 games and what manager we get but you can be damm sure we will fight to the end, do you mags really think you will avaoid the drop? you conceded 3 goals at home to hull, threw away a lead and haven't strengthened, my god as a word of advice really think before you make yourself a laughing stock with your ridiculous comments Mugpie!

Agree1 Disagree0

Totally agree with this post. Common sense if you read it.

Agree0 Disagree1

Worrying thing for Newcastle is the fact that Ashley has tied all their players on long term deals along with pardew so if they went down which is a chance they would be stuck with what they have.

Agree1 Disagree1

''Sorry but this is a poor effort at a post. All of our players will have relegation clauses in their contracts to reduce their wages by up to 40% if we were relegated. ''

''will have'' Isn't do have!

I very much doubt a relegation threatened club could attract players by offering 40% pay cuts if the team gets relegated, especially as you were one of the favourites.

Feel free to prove me wrong.

And you can go on about the net spend not being very high on transfers, that is not the problem, the wage bill is.

Agree1 Disagree1

The wage bill. for one pdc and fanti of most the high earners and replaced them with better players who were on low wages abroad and gave them a few thousand more which was well within our wage structure, 2nd give it a rest MUGPIE! worry about your own team and the way you are being mugged by your chairman, director of football and manager every season! HULL game proved you lot are awful!

Agree0 Disagree0

Pardew will be the next Premiership manager for the chop!

Agree0 Disagree0

The only reason the Mags are not getting smashed in the press after Hull battered them at home is we are taking all the headlines.
