Poyet to investigate information leak. Really? There's no information coming out, or players coming in. What is it that's being leaked exactly?

Believable5 Unbelievable5

By the daily Fail I'm guessing

If there was no leak this forum wouldn't be possible haha

{Ed024's Note - As most Clubs are when it comes to transfer dealings.}

Michael Dawson going to Hull. Another potential target slips through our fingers

Believable7 Unbelievable7

{Ed024's Note - We need another CB, but not one who is almost 31. We already have the oldest CB pairing in the EPL.}

Dawson is much better than we have and for the very reason you say we shouldn't want him (hes 31) we should because he's still 3/4 years younger than our current experienced centre backs who are out of contract at the end of the season. That said i'd prefer to see us pursue Johnny Evan and Micah Richards. On Borini, signing on loan makes a mockery of the club, the lads that sign on for long term deals and the supporter who live and breathe Sunderland. I wouldnyt have a lad playing in my Sunday morning team who wanted to play for someone else. (if there is a reason he's not coming other than wanting to stay at Liverpool I hope its made public after the transfer window. I have nothing against Borini if he believes in his ability and that he can play in the Liverpool side, fair play to him, but we need to move on!!

Agree4 Disagree4

You have nothing against Borini!! You could have fooled me. Getting him on a season long loan is a cracking deal. He'll be out to prove Liverpool wrong which will be great for us plus it potentially gives us 14m to spend elsewhere. So how is it making a mockery of the club?
Your other point about living and breathing Sunderland may apply to fans but when it comes to players it's £££££ that count and long term or short term if a better deal comes up most of them would be off like a shot

{Ed024's Note - Not sure I totally agree - he's clearly not committed to Sunderland after we've shown huge faith in him by making a massive bid, that's even though he knows he'll only play league cup games for Liverpool. If it takes him a month to make a decision I say Poyet makes the decision for him, and moves on. How many players have we let slip by waiting for Borini ?}

Agreed, we should have moved on from Borini weeks ago. But if we do get him on loan I think he would have something to prove. In fact, I think if LFC sold him mostly against his will he would not play as hard for us, but on loan he still has a chance of working his way back into their team. Just speculation, of course, and my opinion.

I think if we get Borini on loan for the season and we have a good one he will sign a permanent deal, he just needs to get the CL out of his thoughts and realise that Brendan Rodgers does not want him in his first 15 never mind 11.
Kalou would be a good addition, I would love us to sign Hernandez from MU if we could, this would only be a loan deal in my poinion as I think Welbeck will go Spurs.
I would like to see Mica Richards to come in our defence to add more steel but this one won't happen for us and I hope he does not go to the barcodes.

A big week ahead in the transfer market - but it didn't have to be - if we had agreed a reasonable fee for Alonso and moved diikette the other way we could have had additional cover at the back and an unwanted off the wage bill - and if we had met a fair valuation for Mutch we could have closed it out before other teams were involved with another Rodwell like player in the squad - leaving a search for a striker - and with circa 14 mil to spend we could have bought 2! - or do what we have done and hang out for Borini - with a big pot to use if get cold feet - but with less fish to catch!
My point to all this is I am sick of the lame excuse about players not wanting to come to sunderland - I believe the above was more than realistic - just Congerton didn't make it happen! - so the next week requires a slice of good luck and a lot more good judgment than has been shown at times and probablies more money than what we refused to pay to close out the above deals - So MR Congerton keep up the GOOD work ( Buckley, Rodwell, Vergini but permanent would have been better) and give it your absolute all to bring in at least 1 central defender, an attacking midfielder and a centre forward (on permanents ) to push the club onwards and upwards! - not just store our problems for another day!

{Ed024's Note - Fiorentina said from the start they wanted to see Alonso after a full pre season with them, and Diakite's agent confirmed back in June that Fiorentina had decided against making the Diakite loan a permanent transfer. Not sure Congerton can be blamed for that one.}

Agree with Ed, and how bad did you really want Mutch anyway?

Agree6 Disagree1

I didn't want him that Mutch anyway, lol

We tried to sign Vergini but there was a complication due to third party ownership so we had to go for the loan option.

On Vergini we wanted to sign him permanently but as he's owned by 2 clubs and the protracted transfer would have taken ages!. so a loan deal is best but hopefully we can untangle the red tape by Janurary window to sign him permanently!
