have heard a rumour lads, the board have a short list of 3 to choose from, with murat yakin the one the club want but a big stumbling block is getting basle not willing to let him go. also in the running are gus poyet who is de fanti favourite and Rene Meulensteen who short was impressed with in his interview. decision could be made before the Liverpool game.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

The bottom line is that most of the 14 players brought in aren't up to premiership standard!. big problem is whoever is in charge will have to get rid of some of these players and that won't be easy!

Agree2 Disagree7

Bollox the 14 players are not good enough. Only question mark is over Cabral and roberge. Manone but he's backup so he's a good backup.

The rest are good signings. giaccherini, altidore are class, ki needs to be made a permanent signing, mavrias looks good, karlsson is for the future as is ba, diakite will prove to be a top signing, celustska has had a promising start, borini is a good player, dossena on a
free is a decent squad player. Duncan watmore youth looks good for the u21s.

Agree10 Disagree2

Bottom line is, we don't know how good they are because we haven't seen enough of them. Bottom line is, getting rid of overpaid, semi retired piss heads isn't easy.

Agree3 Disagree3

Do you think Bally will stick with same team to face Liverpool. Team seems to show a decent balance with a back 4 that have experience playing together. Going forward Poyet should be given a chance, I, m sure some of the new signings are good just need time to blend in

Agree3 Disagree1

14 players not good enough? I doubt if most of them will get a chance if Bally gets the job.

Agree1 Disagree1

Question mark over Cabral, yet Borini is a good player? Couldn't disagree more.

Agree1 Disagree1

I watched Cabral for the u21 team he was shocking seen better part time Sunday league players so yes question marks hang over him and he wasn't a first team player for basle.

I have watched a lot of Borini especially before he's switch to Liverpool as I follow Italian football and he's a class act when given a run of games and confidence is in him.

Have you seen much of either player?thought not.

Agree0 Disagree0

You obviously don't watch that much Italian football or you would know Borini has barely played there!
Making things up to win an argument?

Thought so!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he managed 26 games in the 2011/12 season, with Roma, I would say that was not barely playing as he was only there for one season! Especially considering he missed 10 matches through injury. I think you are the one making things up to win an argument, as you clearly know nothing about Borini, who was first choice for Roma that season.}

That is complete a utter bull ed! He managed 24 and didn't start for most of them (it's nt hard to use google if you don't believe me) prior to that he was barely in Italy! So basically 1 season mostly as a sub!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he came on as sub 6 times, the other games he started! Perhaps you need to learn how to use Google, instead of trying to be a smartarse when you clearly have no idea what you are typing about. Get off wiki and find a reliable site and you might have a chance of making yourself not look a complete fool. He is 22 years old, how many seasons do you expect him to have played first team football? Most 22 year olds in top flight clubs are lucky to have more than a handful of appearances. Now who is chatting bull? Oh yes that would be you. Why are you trying to argue about this? You won't do anything but end up looking more and more clueless. If you don't rate the lad, fine, but why try and dispute how many times he has played when you can't even be bothered to find the official figures to quote? By the way, he did play 26 times, as 2 of his sub appearances were in the Coppa Italia, though I am sure you really knew that and didn't just quote any old figures without checking what you were talking about did you? He also got 10 goals, 9 in the league and 1 in the cup, which isn't bad for a lad you think barely played is it?}

I'm really frustrated about this talk about PDC being a huge mistake and him being written off.
The club needed to go through the PDC period - its been painful, but it was necessary.
The team last season would have been relegated if not for PDC - his drive passion saved us, but only just. While Villa and Norwich played their way clear of the drop, we got out of jail with Wigan losing to Swansea in the penultimate game - if we had gone down no one could have complained, the Newcastle and Everton game turned our season around.
Look at the team now - would you rather have Diakite or Kilgallon/Bramble, Giacherini or Maclean, Altidore or Graham?
We have some really tough fixtures coming up and we need to start picking up points - but please, please don't think we would have been in a better position if Short had allowed MON to continue because we would have been tuning into BBC 1 at midnight on a Saturday rather than 10. 30pm.
Its early enough in the season for the new manager to turn it round - personally I'd take Pullis - his experience would see us safe. Poyet hasn't managed in the EPL - I pray Short knows what he's doing.

Believable8 Unbelievable7

Dicanio was useless inept potty gobbed abusive and a waste of 13 games he should never be given another job unless its licking urinals clean, how anyone can defend him beggars belief

Agree4 Disagree10

As far as I'm aware Gus poyet isn't a bad coach pulled the strings at Leeds wise just took the plaudits when he left Leeds went downhill, he did well at Brighton playing decent football just missed out in the playoffs, hopefully we make the right choice. don't fancy pullis, would steady the ship but crap football I no it's not all about sexy football but we are trying to go forward not back even sometimes it feels like it.

Agree7 Disagree0

Gus played decent football at Brighton? He played great football at Brighton, He's regarded as the best in Brightons history and playing the best football they have ever seen. He turned them from stoke to Swansea overnight almost. They played possession football made the opposition tired then went in for the kill. Great defence record too.

He's perfect.

Agree11 Disagree3

2nd post obviously not a sunderland supporter mate like to hear your reply as I have a question to ask you

Agree3 Disagree1

Decemy, great same thing I was just stating he's a good coach he's going knows his stuff and that's what we need to move forward not pullis, pdc was a good coach it was just his man management which let him down.

Agree2 Disagree1

2nd post is a lifelong supporter from late 60s onwards

Agree0 Disagree4

How can you tick unbelievable when I've told you what I am if you are calling me a liar then say so
im no liar and I stand by my statement in the 2nd post

Agree0 Disagree2

2nd post is a lifelong supporter from late 60s onwards

so do you agree with some of the players who I know were out drinking Saturday night after the wba game. also knowing that they had to report for training the next day or were they just out instigating and planning the down fall of pdc. also the pdc was that bad of a character did you not celebrate along with all sunderland fans and pdc during the o-3 win at sid james park. I can guarantee to you that whoever gets the job is on a hiding to nothing if things don't go right pick the wrong side and players will turn against them lose a few and if we are not out of the bottom 3 by xmas the fans will be wanting him out. how any one would want the job with the crap we have at the club amazes me obviously he won't get the backing of byrne or short.

Agree2 Disagree1

A totally agree with the players his demands and verbal abuse would not of been tolerated in any other industry. his tactics were rigid and uneffective his substitutions were like for like and never changed anything he cost us the win at southampton
oneils team beat the mags
he was tearing the accademy apart with his personic isolation rules I bet there's not one single person at the club whos sad to see him go
he will never make a manager until he becomes a man himself mate
end of debate because we will fill the page if we go on

Agree1 Disagree0

All these fans slating Di Canio. by saying well I wouldn't work hard for someone who treat me like Di Canio did?
Quick question. If your defending these players in the Di Canio scenario -what would be the defence under Bruce and MON?. same players under performing - been dis=respectful to us fans. REMEMBER they get paid dam good money to do a job. about time players were sacked for not performing - SIMPLE.

Agree3 Disagree2

The second post says di canio was a waste for 13 games. nah, 11 maybe

Agree1 Disagree0

Well put true mackem the same fans who are slating pdc are the same ones who slated mon and bruce and will slate the next manager when things go wrong I just wish the board had the balls to tel the players they are the ones paying the wages and pdc is their manager but alas the board took the easy way and we have sacked yet another manager makes you wonder where the club is heading

Agree2 Disagree1

How many industries do you know where employees get £40 grand a week for training a couple of hours a day. I agree pdc should have kept it inhouse. However as for Bardsley he still should go for slating the team for losing opening day. Pdc still gave us the victory over the mags which effectively kept us in the league.

Agree1 Disagree2

Yes we beat the Mags under PDC but that is in the past, we play them in a couple of weeks and we need to smash them again, don't be satisfied with beating the s*** we need to climb out of the bottom 3 ASAP. We have got a team capable of finishing mid table look at the second half of the Arsenal game, hopefully we employ a manager that can have us playing like that every week, they just need to find the right formula & find the best 11 from the squad.

How about Rene Meulensteen think he could be a good appointment.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

If you could bring in him and Phelan, you would have the Man Utd coaching team from last season. That would be a great combo, only problem being who gets the senior position. Phelan probably.

Agree2 Disagree0

Could not agree more. This appointment would please me immensely. Ball as manager and Muelensteen and Phelan as assistant manager and first team coach. Eric Steele as goalkeeper coach as well. This in my opinion would be the safety-valve that we need. Even with my delusional head on and we beat Liverpool and Man Utd over the next ten days then it will still take a monumental effort to reach a lower mid table position by Christmas at the earliest.
I remain convinced that within the squad of twenty-four players we have a good side in there somewhere BUT WE NEED THAT SOMEONE TO IDENTIFY AND UNLOCK THE WINNING COMBINATION. In my opinion that could be Bally/Phelan and Muelensteen.
