I, for one, am very glad Giaccherini is fit again. I am officially predicting him to be one of the star players for us this term. Very good news!

May I SECOND that comment.

if the rumours about alvarez and alderweireld are correct, they would represent two good captures, albeit loans. if both are committed to the move, then they could prove great additions.

The Alvarez deal is loan for €1mil with view to buy for €8.5mil IF safc stay up

Agree6 Disagree0

Of course SAFC will stay up. Just sign it now and get it out of the way. :)

Surprised that Roberge isn't even on the bench for tonight - looks like full games for Brown and O'shea.

Altidore to score!

Sunderland have agreed a loan deal for Toby alderweireld from Madrid. Joining for one year no buy option included. The CB is to travel to the uk this week for a medical.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

Hope this is true as he is a promising defender. Not sure how true these reports are tho.

I thought Arsenal and Southampton are favourites to sign the Belgian defender?

Agree3 Disagree2

Not to mention Big Sam and Arry. We seem to do the scouting for them

Agree4 Disagree0

Yeah I also heard arsenal agreed permanent deal today and an even bigger twist was when his dad said he had no offers from anyone

Still a long way off

How is it players don't want to come to Sunderland but go to Newcastle and hull, not miles apart so can't be the weather, our club just do not want to pay premier league wages, poyet said players don't want to come because its colder and they want to be in London, well Dawson has just left London for hull for gods sake shape up Sunderland or we will be back to being a championship team if you want to be in premiership spend premiership money, the fans do.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

{Ed024's Note - Dawson ? Not the greatest example - neither Sunderland nor Newcastle wanted him. With the possible exception of Huddleston cant think of any players in the last couple of seasons that chose Hull or Newcastle over Sunderland. Geography is certainly a problem for all three clubs but wages, length of contract etc all come into the players decision making as well.}

I am just sick of the lack of activity we have had in this transfer window, we needed players in more than any other time and when we need them the most we don't buy, same old sunderland always linked with someone but never actually happens same old bull**** different day, just got to wait and see but can't see much happening now, get our 14 million back of Borini cause he is just taking the piss now

Agree2 Disagree5

The time to panic (or not) is next Tuesday morning. Being linked with a player in the newspapers or Sky's"our sources tell us" doesn't mean it's true.

Robbie Keane and N'Zogbia have been nailed on signings for the past ten years

Agree3 Disagree0

. not to mention Michael Owen and Peter Crouch.

Saw a report that Stokes Geoff Cameron is linked with us. He claimed this earlier in the summer and Poyet dismissed him. Maybe some truth to it. He did well during WC.

sunderland and west ham chasing werder bremens Ludovic Obraniak

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Why always West Ham?

Agree8 Disagree0

Very true. why always lesser know players aswell. I would love to know where this surprise player is tha poyet repeatedly spoke of.

Agree2 Disagree2

And why always Hull? How many players have we been linked to this window that went to Hull?

Agree3 Disagree1

Then they all end up at Stoke City

Agree0 Disagree0

Think the suprise player was rodwell

Agree1 Disagree0

Cant be rodwell because poyet has said it again
