I know this might sound stupid with the situation we're in with lack of defenders but I am not bull**it*ng.

At the age of 12. I was scouted by Chelsea and Sunderland. I chose Sunderland. I played CB. I had pace, strength, heading and good tackling and mind. A 5, 11 defender at 15. I see myself as a very good Cb for my age but I was dropped from the academy at safc. I personally think Gus should be looking for a defender with similar abilities to myself! I'm upset I was dropped after 4 years with the club but I know what we need. We need a solid defender like myself! Someone who could play on the flank a little which I could not

How old are you now? Looking to play sunday mornings?

at 15 I had a trial with SFC (in the 50's so I am ancient and a supporter for 60 years) I hate the loan system where we develop players for other teams and spend half the transfer window time trying to get them back. My point is where are the players coming up from the academy. Why no home grown players. surely there are young players to fill in the gaps rather than is annual idiocy of changing the whole team. Platers who want to play for SFC

Agree8 Disagree3

We need a player who can pass the ball from the back, in the past and present we have had some bad players who can only defend and not resolve the situation going forward, look at chile both centre backs under 6ft and both could pass a ball, medel yes but they did pay 10mil for him

Agree3 Disagree1

We will never have real talent coming through the academies, too many kids who can play and can handle a ball are over looked for bigger/ stronger kids I have spent the last 2 years in and around both Sunderland and Newcastle academies anf they are a joke

According to the Sunderland we've put a bid and had it rejected for Byram could be could for the future, he's only 20 can't see him playing much so if new bid and accepted can see him going back to leeds on loan. But face competition from Southampton according to daily star as well.

Whickham to west ham say ssn. will have to replace him so would say at least 4 more in

Believable1 Unbelievable13

It's says there interested but can't see it happening, unless we get something back from them that would benefit us like diame but can't see that happening.

Agree9 Disagree0

If Whickham goes I don't think it'll be hard to replace him, its not as if we've relied on him, and if a handful of goals brings a good price then so be it.

Agree do a Borini like Liverpool have done! get as much as possible and find a replacement . hopefully FIRST!

Not exactly, what they said was;
"Connor Wickham is on West Ham's wanted list"

Which isn't exactly the same thing, that being said, I do hope his contract gets sorted one way or the other quickly so we can get sorted for the new season.

Can see this D. C United partnership working well, will probably mean that Altidore will be loaned to them at some point. Can see us giving him a try and then if not successful by January transfer window, can see him going out to them on loan or another mls team in time for mls season.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

08 Aug 2014 20:34:49
Disagree I think Altidore will come good this season and we havnt mant strikers to start with! . we need a biggish squad!

Agree4 Disagree1

Do you know anything about football? If you think Altidore is premier league class you probably also think that Jordan is a virgin!!

Agree2 Disagree4

{Ed024's Note - Jordan Mutch is that ?}

Of course altidore will stay just give him time to settle man we hardly have any strikers I think he will have a good season stop slagging him off

08 Aug 2014 22:29:16
Well obviously Gus must think something of him otherwise he'd be gone by now!. and he knows more about football than both of us . as with everything time will tell!

Agree2 Disagree2

Bobstoke1973 I am not saying we should get rid of him but that I think we should give him a chance and if he doesn't come good then loan him prob to them in mls

jose had a bad season, I agree, scored goals in holland the same as bony, suarez etc not saying he same level but at some point he knew where the back of the net was. he done his hammy at world cup and was main man bar dempsey the past 4 year, let's hope he can prove all us and the opposing fans wrong

LA96 Agree with you on that as often players will take a season to settle . the same with Vergini . i'd give him till Janurary and if he's not performing by then i'm sure Gus will move him on!

If Altidore can do it with the U.S.A surely he can do it here!. same with Roberge I think there's a good squad player in there . and as I've said we need a bigger squad . look already we have Jones and Gaitch out without a ball being kicked of the new season!

Is this whole borini saga making anyone else just want to slap poyet and say move on there are others like sow and Abel Hernandez and if you want to make a statement maybe welbeck or man u's Hernandez. wake up poyet he don't want to come.

Believable9 Unbelievable7

If he want to make a statement he should go and get Falcao or Cavani. about as realistic as Hernandez or Welbeck wanting to come to us!

I respect Borini's wish to play Champions League but what amounts to disrespecting us is the length of time involved in "taking his decision". It borders on dumb insolence. If he doesn't want to come then have the b@!s to say so, and let's all move on.
PS who says we won't be playing Champions League some day anyway?

I've had enough now as well!!

He is a 100% player who gives his all in every game but for me he is not worth £14m. I do understand though why Gus would pay this and he knows what he is getting having had last season working with him.

My view is simple. Borini is entitled to stay and fight for a place at Liverpool who will be in Premier League, FA Cup, Capital One Cup and the Champions League. Yes they have a squad being put together but there is a good chance he will get game time with Suarez leaving and Remy not signing. However I think he will be used in cup games and maybe on the bench for the others so to me he should want regular first team football.

Therefore, we should remove the offer and move on as his main focus is staying there. If Rodgers has not told him that he won't play then he will not come to us. And if he comes begging at the end of August we should then walk away or make a reduced offer.

While Borini was a claas above most last season, there is no guarantee he can replicate this form this year. Often young strikers follow a good season with a poor one, and Premier defences have had a look at him now, so he won't find things so easy. Besides, £14m was a lot to offer0- if he was on our books, does anyone think we would be getting $14m offers for him based on his performances so far? Tine to moveon I think- it is turning into another Fletcher saga- and he still owes us most of his fee. What is worrying is that we still seem to have few targets in mind, and once they know who they are the price- and presumably their wage demands- goes up! Surely we could become a little more canny in the transfer market- how many disastrous windows does it take for us to master the basics?

Most Sunderland supporters feel the same on Borinigate so why doesn't our manager?

Agree4 Disagree0

I think the thing for me is not the price it's the time let's be honest with ourselves we are not in a position to wait that is Liverpool they are the team with the quality and squad depth to be able to fight for champions league we are the team that needs the player so I would move on I have no
Doubt Brendan Rodgers said 14mil your not in a position to wait take it or leave it IMO leave it and go somewhere else let's not waste time and panic buy

What bothers me is Borinis heart in the move? we need players who will give 100% and his heart would still be in Liverpool?

Agree4 Disagree0

Don't worry about Borini's heart being in it. I do some work for the club and believe me the lad is Uber professional. If he signs he'll give it his all in every game he plays. Have no fears whatsoever.

Van Dijk looks like he's on his way out if Celtic this week with SAFC and the saints bidding for him. Coates looks signing on a permanent deal and Abel Hernandez is in talks after Poyet has givin Borini 24 hours till he goes elsewhere. I think it's best all round we look at other targets. Poyet is looking for a player who can play left flank and behind a striker. Wouldn't mind trying for Nani myself or Young.

Left wing and striker
That is literally the perfect fit for Moussa Sow

Reports in Spain are suggesting we are close to signing Valencia centre forward Jonas. He has one year left on his contract and he is being forced out before his contact runs out, another Spanish club have been in for him but they have pulled out of the race because they could not afford him, he is being granted an Italian passport so if we do go for him we would not need to apply for a work permit to allow him to play in England
Another story emerging is that we are on the verge of signing man city midfielder Bruno Zucilini, he has just signed so it would be a Loan, he has been brilliant in pre season

Still need a centre back though!!

Could be the reason we signed Rodwell permanmently as we wouldn't be able to loan 2 players for the same team . mind heard a few other clubs are after him aswell . good player!

Gus says he's still confident on Borini but might/gunna have to look elsewhere

Is that finally the middle finger to Borini from Poyet,

Heard from down south that a lad called Martin Russell is signing from Leeds. 6 foot 5 centre half, supposed to be a John terry no nonsense type defender. No idea how good he is like
