I will be honest, I have been slating PDC on here, but that is my duty as a Newcastle fan.

I am just curious if the results are to blame, or has there been a players revolt?

There is more to this one than meets the eye, you don't sack a manager 5 games in to a new season.

Disgraceful, Short and Byrne have no integrity. We will have to give the new guy our support whoever it is, but don't complain if he doesn't buy a house in the NE he might not have long enough for a purchase to go through.

Read the article on line from the daily mail! Paolo had a meeting with the players and the players turned on him after he singled certain players out. The players then told him they didn't like him and wouldn't play for him. quote from Daily

What I've heard is the sacking was because of a bust up with 2 senior players after the West Brom debacle and if PDC has lost the players then perhaps its the right move. a Kamakasi manager!

Sorry to see paulo go, despite a players revolt, I seem to think ball will be in charge for at least 1 prem game, despite what the bookies say, dare say he would be a good first team manager, full of local passion.

Point is if he has lost the dressing room then short had no other option. I for one would not be happy if my manager was putting me down in public it would take anyones confidence away. Yes it is only 5 games gone but at the end the day 1 point from 5 games is not good enough. If I was chairman my reaction would be the same. People saying player power gone mad, to get results players need to be happy and confident, pdc took that away with his managment style. So for me right decision, right time.

Too many players who think there big time getting managers sacked, you wouldn't see it happenin at united and that's because they respect the badge, plus the press would vindicate them if they did it down there, the problem is we aren't a desirable side and never will be, the players have no respect for the badge, there here to pick up there paycheck and piss it all up the wall in a saturday night, as soon as some one comes in and tries to shake it up a little bit so that they might actually put a bit of effort in for the fans who pat good money and deserve to see some decent football for a change, because in my opinion its been pretty much horrific for best part of a decade now, the players ought to be ashamed of themselves I've got to say i'm not sorty he's gone because he wasnt the right man for the job but some of the blame has got to go to the players, not playin for someone so you get him sacked isn't hurting him its hurting the workin man who slaves all week just so he can watch his beloved team on a weekend and i'm sorry but that performance on saturday was simply not good enough, the lads should be ashamed of themselves and surely short has got to get rid of these perpatraitors who have stood up to have him removed aswell, i'm disgusted, rant over.

Toon fan in peace. Agree with a lot of the comments above, he wasn't given even nearly enough time, football went mad long ago and it's us who suffer. Totally agree with the post about the players virtually engineering this, and I think we all have a good idea which ones will have been involved. I will not mention names but I hope they follow Paolo out of the club as soon as possible, they have taken the p**s out of our club for far to long.

First am shocked about PDC should have give him more time although I do see why he had to go if he was losing the dressing room (if that is true)
Second I have seen a post saying get Ball in till the end of the season for me that would be a bad choice it's far to early in the season to do that there is plenty of time to get a full time manager in to do the job

From a football point of view, sacking a manager after only 13 games and having allowed him to bring in that many players over the summer is ludicrous.

However, there is clearly more to it than that. We can shout on about the dangers of player power and commitment (or lack thereof) all day long but you can't treat adults like school children, criticise them in public and expect them to still want to play for you.

That's not because the players are prima donnas or they don't care, it would be no different if my boss did the same to me.

The fact they get paid so much doesn't change what is right and what is wrong. You can't treat people like rubbish and expect to see results.

Sacking Di Canio isn't the problem, appointing him in the first place when everyone knew what he was like is the issue.

Regardless, he's gone. The big concern now is, who is going to replace him? We really don't need another failed manager on the merry go round (McLeish, McLaren etc) to continue the mediocrity.

He did his job and kept us up, I'm sad to see him go as his passion was awesome, but his man management, tactics and player choices were poor, I'd of gave him 5 more games but if he lost the players then he had to go, also would like to make the point to my fellow mackem who said a week ago that he was talking to catts and johnson in a pub in yarm! sorry for doubting you mate about the players not backing PDC

Spot on mate. You can't appoint a well known lunatic and then sack him for being a lunatic.

He'd should never have been given the job in the first place. He had very little football experience and a track record of being a nightmare to work with.

Not often I agree with Shearer but he was spot on MOTD when he said he doubted whether the club really did its research in the first place before giving him the job.
