a few people on here and other sites getting anxious and worried at our lack of signings. if the right players come along at the right price then I think we will sign them what would our fans rather we do go out and waste money like the case under di fanti all you heard after signing after signing was how good they were and how they were going to get us into the top half of the league HOW WRONG. millions of pounds thrown down the drain agents fees signing on fees and stupid wages if we didn't have a chairman like short our club might not have recovered from the mistakes made then. I would rather the club not make any signings rely on youth than bring in anyone who won't benefit the team just for the sake of making signings to keep some of those fickle fans happy. let's hope that we can attract a few good players before the window closes that benefit the team if not then hopefully dick can get the best out of what we have and the players will benefit under his tactics than those used by poyet.

Well that's all well One Gary Rowell but The Toon have beat us to a quality Dutch Midfielder and I think we are going to struggle if we don't get quality and quality costs money Caybaye going To Palace is another we've missed out of . we are shopping for bargains and i'm surprised Dick coming out saying we have to be frugal when he spent big in Scotland!last seasonwe made the wrong choices ie Rodwell and Bridcutt to name 2 and unless we get it right well go down!

bob bob don't worry mate yes palace have made a decent signing in cabaye but 10 million plus hefty wages for someone coming up to 30 and no sell on bargain the mags got the best deal out of him. as for the dutch lad they have signed who knows what they have bought in holland he looks the business but its a different ball game in the premiership he could become a star or he could be an embaressing buy. look at all the money spent by spurs where has all the gary bale money gone and the money spent by rodgers at liverpool we can only hope that we can bring a few players in on the right deals and not go silly like I said under di fanti if your one of those fans who want to see us buy players because it looks good then i'm afraid we won't have a club for long and could end up like a portsmouth or leeds trust in the club and see who comes through the door before you start getting worried about relegation i'm just glad I don't have a season ticket next to you mate

well I think you are in a minority in the way you are thinking compared to the many Sunderland supporters I've spoke to who are worried about the players we are linked to never mind signing! Caybaye is the type of signing that will keep Palace up and the money well lose being relegated would justify outlaying that sort of investment! we won't stay up on optimism alone we need quality and that is sadly lacking at present, hopefully Dick will address it!

good discussion bob and I totally agree on some of what you say yes a lot of sunderland fans are worried on some of the names bein linked and I myself agree I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole but its just media hype the papers have to make up players and stories so people buy them cabaye is a very good player but I question weather the outlay for someone coming up 30 is to excesive but you have a point when you look at the outlay and return we have had from rodwell hopefully he can get over his injuries and he might be like a new signing along with giaccerini another who could come good with an injury free season but let's wait and see who actually comes into the club before we start to worry mate I myself have always been a one for giving youth a chance if good enough something that sunderland football club just don't seem to do mate whatmore I prime example anyway keep the banter up mate this site needs it.

and at the end of the day the Toon have just signed a top quality midfielder we desperately need and will probably keep them up! where is the ambition at this club? so Rodwell and Bridcutt will create the chances for us? I doubt it! agree giach will be a great player if he can keep fit! and agree YOUTH (which Avocaat isn't big on )MUST BE GIVEN A CHANCE and Whatmore must be given a chance with the first team on tour NOt with the u21s!its a big season and last chance saloon for many players! Whickam is one of them!
