I have been banging on privately about Conor Whickham for months and I can never believe it when I hear at matches the enthusiasm of a lot of fans for him. He is so overrated and frankly awful. I don't believe for one minute Poyet sanctioned or had anything to do with his 4 1/2 year deal. Whickham must be absolutely delighted together with his agent. I would have let him go when we got the offer from West Ham. Anyway I don't want to be banging on about him all the time. It's obvious that our main problem is pace and creativity in midfield plus lack of movement from the front players. The midfield have no one to pass to hence the first place they look when they get the ball is sideways or more often backwards. We struggle more at home because we set up like an away team. This is because we can't dominate a game as we have no outlet. Away from home we set up the same way then try and score on the break or if we go a goal down we are forced to come out eg. Man City game. It isn't going to work without getting in some experience or creativity in midfield. The likes of Burnley and Leicester are far more entertaining and not only that they have a midfield threat who can break lines and get in behind the defence. If we don't get anyone in this window I for one will be making some money on a sure relegation then I fear it will be the slippery slope for our great club and poor fans.
I agree. I was not at the match yesterday but my brother was and he was bored. There is no spark in the team. Our central midfield players are functional. If Poyet is going to stay with this system he has to find someone with pace to run behind the opposition ( not Borini)

He was very poor on Saturday. Lack of effort and urgency.
In his defence tho, why run around against three CB's when you have no support even if you win a header!!
You have to jump to win headers!! Something he doesn't do very often. Of course if you head the ball you will mess the hair up !!!!
Lessthan88, you must not have heard but whickham can't jump has the nail polish on his toes would crack. Aaron Lennon to sign soon.
