Right let get this sorted, thought the toon fans were known to be delusional at times but honestly think some of the mackems are really getting ahead of themselves so heres some info, take it on board or dont, think i m fair enough in my assessment, as always. . .

Players Out. . Henderson. . Riveros. . Zenden
Loans Gone. . Mensah. . Wellbeck. . Onouha. . Muntari
Injuries. . Campbell. . Out for Season

Players In. .

Westwood. . Decent keeper but honestly would rather Krul or Forster, conceded 58 goals last season, Coventry finished 18th in Championship

O Shea. . Brown. . Ideal scenario, very good signings, but only brought in to replace Onouha and Mensah who are both gone, doesn't give the team any more depth, but granted improved first team

Larsson. . Gardner. . Vaughan. . Can be talked up all you want but all played for sides that went down last season. . think theyre all not bad signings but only one I think is a genuinely good player is Gardner, but just for the odd goal, had no assists last year. . and again, have only replaced what youve lost, no added depth to squad

El Mohamady. . No goals and 2 assists in 30 odd games. . says it all really, looks better than he actually is, Jonas even destroys that return, and I think he is brutal. . muntari gone as well now so again, no added depth

Ji Dong Won. . Wickham. . Cant knock them yet, two unproven strikers, both very young, could be good, but are a gamble. . Wickham in particular if hes being looked at as fairly instant first team push. . 9 goals in 27 + 14 sub appearances. . Ameobi got 11 goals in 13. . Lovenkrands 16 in 21 in the Championship. . understand hes young but if he was that promising his return should be a lot better. . and Once Again, no more depth, wellbeck gone, campbell out for most of the season. . unless another very good stiker comes in that's a decrease in quality in my opinion

Anyway, conclusion is all these signings are great to see, but club loyalty aside, objectively, are Sunderland really going to be that much better? what have they done to address what happened them at the end of last season when injuries kicked in and the form went to the dogs because there was no squad to back up what was a decent first team doing well. . not having a go, think some of the signings are good for Sunderland, and will improve the first team, I think O Shea and Brown specifically, all i m saying is they better hope that first team stays fit all season

Some good points mate but do you not think you might just be looking as the new signings as individuals and not part of a squad ? take brown and o, shea for example , o, shea can play all across the back and in midfield , brown can play right back and center half so buying just those 2 has covered 5 or 6 different positions weve also brought in 3 decent midfielders in gardner , vaughan and larsson which will which will help strenghen the midfield of sessegnon , cattermole , richardson and elmohamady . admittedly we are a bit thin upfront but i think bruce will address that before the start of the season but we hav got the option of using sessegnon as support . so all in all i think we hav strengthened the squad drastically with the versatility of some of the players we brought in and i havnt mentioned the likes of bardsley , turner , ferdinand , collback ( who i think did quite well last season ) or wickham and wong don who i think will do very well given time

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed can u cancel that last post about puttin the above post on the banter page lol {Ed003's Note - a bit late,sorry}

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair point lad, few more versatile players, well at the back in the two Utd lads. . and as you said, and I mentioned, forward line would look better with a very good signing. . the midfield would worry me if I was a mackem to be honest, even with the three signings, as I said Gardner is the only one I really think is a good player, providing he stays fit and the existing players. . know where you re coming from though, and hard for me to be to be very accurate not knowing what the fans see as the strongest first eleven with the signings that have come in and ones that have left. . point was more so that I think a few are really getting ahead of themselves thinking there will be a definite push for europe, I still think the squad is 3 or 4 good players away. . definitely won't be caught up in the battle at the bottom, and the team is better, just not that much better from last season in my opinion. . its a hard task to break that top 8, the toon won't do it this season either even with a few more signings just for those who may think i m delusional about our chances 9th or 10th would be a good season

Agree0 Disagree0

El Mohamady didn't always start a game, so his quoted statistic is a little misleading. . Mesah I thought was more often than not a liability, how many fowls around the box, free kicks, and penalty's did he give way around the box with his late challanges or just grabbing people due to him not being fit? if it wasnt for the many injuries we had at the time I don't think he would have had as many games.
Vaughn was blackpool's player of the season last year above Charlie Adams. He led many a team a merry dance last season Im looking foward to him being in the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Point taken but i must admit im not one who thinks europe is on the cards next season , i would be happy with steady progress but i don't think a 7th or 8th finish is unrealistic and a good cup run would be nice i think theirs more goals in our midfield this season and i can't see us goin on a winless run as we did last season so im not as pessimistic as i was 3 weeks ago i can see light at the end of the tunnel for both of us and a years experience for both our signings should see us in good stead for next season when we should then be able to make a realistic attempt at europe . heres hoping anyway .

Agree0 Disagree0

El Mohamady. . Premier League Starts. . 26. . Sub Appearances. . 10. . Goals. . 0. . Assists. . 2. . Not really misleading is it? He started two thirds of the games, and missed only two all season. . even discluding sub appearances for the sake of argument. 1 assist in every 13 games for a winger isn't good.

I think the wages are proving the stumbling block for the zog . personnaly id love bruce to go for adam johnson (who is a sunderland supporter) for the left wing berth either permanent or on a season loan as man city are intereted in craig gordon perhaps a swap deal could be done ?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Johnson is a scum supporter unfortunately, his family are mad sunderland fans but he supported screwcastle, says on wiki but anyone can edit that. Gordon and 10m for Johnson would do for me

Agree0 Disagree0

You re right there mate. his family are all big mackems but he is a toon supporter, said it himself in an after match interview for city last season when he scored the winner against newcastle

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do the geordies think johnson is a mag the lad openly said when he joined man city if sunderland had made the move for him first there is only one place he would have gone comes from the same village as the other famous red and white to come from there steve harper but then again sgb are going to say he supported them. p.s as we are always told and all my mates from the village i live in and surroundings ones when they go to games ye come from durham ye not a geordie ye a mackem so last time i looked easington in durham

Agree0 Disagree0

Check out his interveiw and personal info on Match.com he did an interveiw with them after scoring against us and said he supports NUFC

these are the player i think we should get rid of before the season starts or atleast get them out on loan, louis lang, blair adams, craig lynch, billy knott and jordan cook.
angeleri probably the worst player ive ever seen play for sunderland alongside laslanders lol, and craig gordon to either celtic or arsenal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Gordan not a bad keeper just the rest of the team making him look bad by being useless

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh i know that of course its just arnt teams willing to pay like 7-8 million for him your probaly right tho i can't make my mind up who id rather have in goal mignolet westwood or gordon they are all decent keepers

Agree0 Disagree0

Gordon is an excellent keeper. He's just injury prone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would ye waste all ye time and money bringing these kids through to let them go everyone has been given a contract and will be put out on loan to see how they cope then it is down to them to impress

Agree0 Disagree0

There all big headed little brats that's why

what will be the shirt no for O'shea.? i believe Brown might get No 6, Cattermole will be shifted to some other number.

Jol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The club owns the shirt numbers not the player so will be wherever the club puts him Expect the new signings to have low numbers as they will or should be the first team

Agree0 Disagree0

O'Shea 4, Brown 6, Cattermole 8, Wickham 10, Defoe 9 (if we get him) Larrson 7, Gardner 12, Gyan stays 33, Westwood 13, Dong Won 16, Elmohamady 17, Sessegnon 14, N'Zogbia 11 (if we get him), Richardson 3, Malbranque 15, Colback 18, R. Noble 20

We would like defoe, but we DONT have to sell/swap gyan as part of the deal. gyan can only get better next season so will the goon army fans stop BSing that gyan is leaving. FTM

Im one fan who does not want defoe he's a greedy little t**t, and not as good as people make out, yeh he gets a few goals, but plays in fits and starts.
plus won't settle up here, he will be to far away from the bright lights of london and the party scene.
Much rather see bids for Pav or berbatov.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Theres more chance than me showing my arse in debnehams window than you sighning berbatov. its a known fact he his a shearer fan and also supports newcastle aswell as his dad who by chance his is manager. i, m not saying we are (nufc) are getting him cos we are not but neither are you that's a fact

Agree0 Disagree0

We didn't want Gibson, that is a point I would like to make We were'nt going to be messed about , Quinn and Bruce have been round the block we are in a position where we don't have to be held to ransom, hopefully those days are gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

You wouldn't find Debenhams because you can't spell it, and i didn't say we are going to sign Berbatov, if you can read because you can't spell, i said i wouldn't mind brucie putting in a bid

Agree0 Disagree0

Berbatov a newcastle supporter, so is bruce he still chose to manage us. these people are proffesional pitty little things of where ya from don't bother these ppl £££££££ does. also steve harper sunderland fan badge tattooed on his leg still plays for u. so just because some 1 supports a team does not mean they won't go to rivals. not like we have any chance in signing berbatov just making a point. also remember wen yas thought ya were gettin martin o neil as manager. tht would never happen in your world as he also supports sunderland

love the toon fans trying to unsettle us. . blatently clear by the fact there in all the SAFC rumour pages/blogs. . .obviously s**tting there pants at the thought of playin us 2nd game of season and the fact we've got our business done early so all players have a full pre-season together and mike ashley can't get a transfer through to save his life. . .unlucky toon boys, jog on and write on ya own pages.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

S******* ourselves like before we played BOTH games last season? ha ha ha, I KNOW where all the S*** was coming from, red and white tops and brown shorts, same again this season and same results you mackems can dream with your Man U reserve side.

Agree0 Disagree0

Brown and oshea have won more trophies than your entire club shhhhhhhhh
come back when you have 6 titles ha ha

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but you can't boast that your players have won 6 titles They didn't do it for you lot Was other teams success so that's a no brainer really Butt won loads before he come to us but we couldnt say we had

Agree0 Disagree0

That what it says on their CV's Yer Geordie Numpty

Agree0 Disagree0

Look lets be honest they won the six trophies sat on the bench

Agree0 Disagree0

How much did they contribute to those trophy wins? You f***ing moron. Seriously that argument is such a pathetic strawman.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its stupid to try and say we have winners in our team when for starters they were bench warmers and didn't win them for you lot You mackem numpty

Agree0 Disagree0

They are winners, they have won leagues and cups and caps. The same way Sherarer was a winner, never ever for NUFC but before he joined you, he won a leauge with Blackburn Rovers and a certificate for swimming a length at walls end baths at school.

Agree0 Disagree0

Obviously your not a winner Whats the opposite of that word? yeah that's you Thats my point they may have won things at other clubs but not at yours so you can't brag saying look at us That right is down to their old clubs fans you moron

modric valued at £27m, he scored 9 goals in 91 games. what about jan transfer window. . . . . . torres 0 goals £50 m. . . . carrol 2/3 goals £35 m AND darren bent. . . . . . . .9 goals+ in maybe 15 games ? £24m i think we got ripped off

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Bent wanted away simples. but we made money whats the point in keeping a player who wants away and we still made profit even after spurs sell on clause just not as much as we all think we made. think the scum where lucky to get 35 million for carrol bet hey we got 20 million for henderson so we liverpool overpaid am i right (EDD) whats your thoughts. just think we all expecting big name sighnings and we just are not going to do we strength and depth not big mame players looking for big pay days

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that's an important point, we do not want primadona's, The nog fella from Liverpool, Defoe from Spurs?
We don't need these guys. Journey men? ok , its part and parcel of the game , if you are a joiner or mechanic and you get better offers then you go to where the money is, there is a slight differance in the Bent case, he wanted a wage increase from the moment he got to the SOL when he started to bang in the goals. He had a contract which the ink had'nt even dried and he wanted even more money, We took a gamble on a player nobody would touch with a barge pole at the time, he should have saw the season out. He must have known it was going to leave a bad taste.
I think Brucie and Quinn has been round the block, they will be looking at characters as well as ability. I know good management is "managing " people and getting the best out of them but I feel if any player has a reputation fo being akward then they will not be a target for SAFC. There is a feeling that is the impression
Gyan is being made a target, I feel by paper talk and mischief making, we know he is popular in the dressing room, he is still a young Lad and a bit of a character to Boot, for these reasons I don't believe he is being akward or doing a Bent (Bent was never popular in the dressing room by all accounts , for eg.)

Agree0 Disagree0

On carroll and henderson time will only tell if bad buys or bargains success will tell

Agree0 Disagree0

If a player signs a contract then decides he wants to leave half way through regardless of the club wants to sell or not should not influence the sale.i'm sorry but city/spurs should make examples of tevez/modric play for us or sit on the bench.they were quick enough to sign when they needed a pay day the FA should make them honour the contract or retire.
