If results go our way next week and we win we can go up to 12th
Which just goes to show how tight it is in the bottom half of the table, so if we gunna criticise our team, might aswell criticise the 5 teams above us

Your going to finish 4th bottom at best so keep your fingers crossed Wigan don't win Tuesday night or you are certainly down.

That team that played yesterday would struggle in the championship. When we needed a cup winning performance, they put in a non league performance. the quality of football was abysmal. Didn't think one man could make such a difference to a team, but sess creativity is sadly missing. spurs will have a field day with us. Di canio sad we shouln't depend on other teams. WE ARE NOW.

This is what I don't like about our fans, they think the players are brilliant and are heroes when we win (Newcastle and Everton) but when they lose or draw, they are called worse than muck and don't deserve to even play in the championship

Ok, I know what you mean about our fans, but you must realise that we are always let down by our team, and when we get a couple of good wins we tend to go overboard and blow the trumpet. We have had a terrible season, I blame the overpaid players, we cast them as heroes but in reality they are not good enough for our club. Hope our new manager can weed them out.

so we didn't win, but we got a point without our top 3 scorers not that bad, wigan won't beat arsenal end of!

Theres no excuse for that appaling gutless performance! even if we stay up itll be 4th bottom and that is TOTTALLY unacceptable!

And the Mags can't gloat either !their season has been crap aswell!

We have as much chance as getting something against Spurs as the Toon not sacking Pardew!

So now it is down to three- and if Wigan fail to beat Arsenal we would be safe. But if they do beat Arsenal, they could well beat Villa and then we would need something from the Spurs game. But in all honesty we have been one of the worst teams in the division all season- and were second best again today. We have had two opportunities at home now against teams that are also struggling and we could not perform against either. This shower will be very fortunate if they are able to hang onto Premier status, and there is no doubt that whether we finish above them or not Wigan have better players, play better football and fight much harder for the team. This is the worst Sunderland squad I can remember- poorly prepared, no tactics, poorly motivated for most of the season. Their performances over the season have been shameful, and that the club can pay £50 million plus in wages and be in this position is scandalous. We need change from top to bottom, and given the inept managers he has selected and the slowness with which he responds to unacceptable standards on and off the pitch, Short needs to go too. In fact, maybe he needs to go first because apart from Tony Fernandez (they should form a club themselves) I can't think of anyone who has squandered more money to less effect. A shambles all year, and shambolic to the end. Shame on you players, you are not fit to clean Jimmy Montgomery's boots!

Agree with most of your post, but I disagree totally with your pop at Ellis Short. All the managers were Quinnies recommendations apart from Paolo.

If Wigan turn Arsenal over then Sunderland are relegated. A massive game like this today and when the team needed the supporters behind them, loads of empty seats AND worse of all fans leaving early. what's that all about? Its Sunderland or Wigan, squeaky bum time.

Sorry, but your wrong, Sunderland have 4 points more than Wigan, if they beat Arsenal they are still below us, you are maybe a tad overexcited. {Ed024's Note - I think the first poster is assuming Wigan beat Villa in the their last game and Sunderland lose to Spurs.}

All this bitching and forecasting is completely meaningless. Both teams have been s*** this whole season, and both clubs need to get cracking in the transfer market, both ins and outs. We've survived by the skin of our teeth, you lot have a few days of worry ahead of you, but neither set of fans is in any position to gloat.

Think we're safe now. Not the best of games today but its a point. Can't see wigan beating arsenal Tuesday but I won't be able to watch it. Safc93 {Ed024's Note - SAFC 20/1 to be relegated ...it feels a lot closer than that, especially the way Wigan played against Man City.}

Wigan will be pumped and motivated and arsenal might crumble

Can't believe Bardsley is in the team- maybe Paulo should stop prancing about on the touchline and watch the games; Bardsley has been abysmal all season and at Villa a sack of potatoes would have been more useful in defence.

45 minutes in and we look second best all over the park.

If he had scored six this season he would still owe us for the goals he gives away. When a player is patently not good enough, you have to get rid of him, not keep giving him chances because of the odd rare contribution. A fullback has to be able to defend, and get up and down the pitch to press- he can't do either.

wigan get a draw at arsenal
but next only manage a draw with villa to see them relegated. woke up with a cold sweat lads.
