I have just witnessed bridcutt play right back and rodwell play left back?! what even? safe to say if it was bridcutt trying to revive his sunderland career it was a major fail he was shocking. whickham looks so disinterested and todays loss to nil highlights how bad our front line needs a revamp. positive was watmore looked lively and probably tested keeper for the 15 mins he got more times than graham fletcher whickham and defoe did the entire game.

Come on ed the fitnes should be near the mark by now. let's not make excuses for poor players. We were rubbish against a 3rd div side in a vastly inferior league to ours. Unless we get quality in we have got a season of misery on our way. I feel like crying right now. Was so happy when dick come back. That euphoria has evaporated now.

{Ed001's Note - the fitness is aimed to reach full at around the second or third game of the season usually, so no, nowhere near the mark yet. They have barely started.}

Ok ed I take on board what you are saying about these friendlys being used for fitness amongst other reasons. However, surely the players fitness programme should be geared up so that they are fit and ready for the 1st game not the 3rd. there's 9 points at stake.

{Ed001's Note - I fully agree, it is an old fashioned view that still prevails that you only get match fit by playing matches, hence they aimed to be fully fit by the third match. The thinking was that you didn't peak too soon or it would lead to burnout later.}

come on Ed at the moment we are a laughing stock! struggling to Beat an Evo Stick Premier club losing to usa part timers the Lombards transfer is a shambles the player saying he snubbed the club and didn't fail the medical! Defoe complaining he's not a winger (now which previous manager hasn't played strikers on the wings ) for all those blind optimist rose coloured spectacles supporters this one deals in realism and with the look of our 2 geriatric center backs Brown and OShea my granny in her frame could zoom past them! if Dick has a plan I hope he is working on it with some urgency! what the odds for us beating Leicster on Aug 8th!??

{Ed001's Note - Coates mught turn out to be a star for you mate, it wasn't so long ago he was voted player of the tournament in the Copa America. If he stays clear of injury he will be a big step in the right direction. Mind anything that will keep Brown or O'Shea out of the team, including fielding your granny, would be a step in the right direction to be fair. Lens might come good, and maybe Watmore will finally be given a go? I really like the look of Watmore.}

The one highlight is that he gave Watmore 23 minutes and he was our man of the match by a long way!!

we need another center back a creative midfielder and a striker that scores goals . even former roker hero Michael Gray has said in public that Short needs to get some players in quick!

Talking about Rookie talent why hasn't the likes of Agnew , Mandron and other talented younsters not been taken on tour? paticually with the depleted squad . i'd have taken Roberge aswell better than O Shea and Brown !

Not sure about taking roberge. I think he needs to be moved on. But agnew and mandron should have gone. Mandron is on fire at the mo. Absolutly over the moon with lens signing. Just hope the jonny evans rumours are true. I think giach could do the job of creative midfielder. He is like a new signing.
