Seriously though, there is plenty of top strikers that we could have got, some were snapped up, others haven't been, e. g, sow, Emenike, Rondon, all really fast, power houses that are aggressive and WILL score goals, even for us

I enjoyed seeing AJ fire at the goal. A couple lucky bounces and it's in! Another screamer almost made it in. We need more shots like those. I like a good cross for a tap in or header as much as the next, but keep the GK busy, test him and some will find the back of the net. Good performance from Johnson, whom I believe I said should've made way for Buckley to start. I stand corrected.
If he keeps his form throughout the season you will see plenty of this from Johnson, he ain't the quickest but he is unreal on the ball and scores plenty for a winger, Giaccherini is gunna be great for us this season (if he starts), read an interesting article on Alvarez, he passed his medical with flying results and is one of the fittest in the team, he wasn't spectacular the other day but can you blame him, it's his first game in the PL against a brilliant spurs side on a hot day and he didn't really get a chance to show all of his class due to the fact we were camped around our own box and the front 3 saw nowt of the ball, he will be quality for us
I think Gus has a good problem, he's got the likes of Giacc, Johno, Buckley, Alvarez, Gomez and Larsson to pick from, in all of their defence, what they're good at they're great at, Johno is great on the ball and basically our biggest threat but inconsistent, Giaccherini looks great now, but we need to somehow fit him in to the formation, Alvarez is magic and can beat anyone with the ball but he's got no experience abd REALLY one footed, Buckley is quick and direct but does he have enough about him to kick Johnson out the team? Gomez has always changed the game when he comes on, slows everything down and is so creative but can he start, why change him when he's a super sub, Larsson is a hell of a worker, 100mph all over the pitch, won't stop till his feet bleed and he'll try to go on. He's rubbish for a lot of the game but always gets an assist or a goal, I thinks it's amazing
I think we will have a good season but the best won't come for a little while, Gus needs to find his best team/formation that gets results…not easy or a quick fix

Agree 100%. Our midfield never gets talked about on here, it's always our defence and strikers, which is why Saturdays game was discouraging for me. The midfield got bullied all over the park! I don't know if Gus should've changed the formation to put more in the middle (4-4-2?) or what, but something was wrong for the first 70'+/-. Our midfield has the most depth and should be our strongest area. I realize we'll come up against better teams or have bad days, but only getting 30% of the possession is poor. Without a strong midfield what would that leave us with? I'm not panicking, it was only one match, but I can't say I was happy with the performance. Tottenham played well, though, in their defence.
