i personally would like to thank Martin O'neil for not falling into the trap of the bosses of old and buying has been crap on huge wages. Now lets all sit back and take a chill pill and see this season out, give Martin time to sort out the dross left by others and i'am sure it will all come together.

I'm going to support Danny graham hope he does well and I also hope no on boo's him just give him a chance

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Hey this lad has just give up a cup final and prob winners medal and he's big enough to play for us after all the booing I admire the kids guts and he will do well for us

Agree5 Disagree0

I feel Graham could be a bargain!. he has some guts and that's what we need. hell give 110%!

hi all. . as disappointing as it was yesterday with just graham coming in, we must all realise just who we are and our status in the league. we are a mid-table premier league club and our spending and players reflect that. We would all love 4 or five players yesterday. we all know an overhaul of the defence is needed and a good attacking midfielder will add more to the attacking element but rome wasnt built in a day. we have got to trust in MON and Ellis they know what's best for the club off the field and we, as supporters, must back EVERY player who pulls on the shirt regardless if we think they should be in the team or not. I look back at all the crap about Fletcher when MON was so adamant about getting him. and he has proved all you doubters wrong. Graham could have gone to Newcastle but wanted to come to us. stress WANTED. I honestly believe he will not be another Chopra. so we need to cheer him accept him and trust in him to hit the goals. not everything is doom and gloom. we have a good chairman, top manager fabulous stadium and the best fans in the country. its good to be a Sunderland fan at the minute so come on lets get behind the team and push on!

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Nufc didn't bid for graham so he settled for 2nd best! He really looked like he wanted to join safc in his interview(not)! Having said that I think the next derby will be a good one and could go either way and graham will defo not fluff his lines like a certain mr chopra(who should keep his mouth shut)

Agree3 Disagree3

I back Graham to score against the mags!

Anyone see Pardews and Chopras negative comments against Danny Graham?. unbeleivable!. at least Graham can speak English!

Believable3 Unbelievable2

So pardew running his gob of again. crying when remy binned him for bottom of league qpr. what does that say about the wee club from up north. remy not even that good lately either. in shola you trust

Agree3 Disagree2

So if we are Wee what does that make Sunderland. Invisible? Smaller club in all aspects. {Ed024's Note - Apart from league position maybe ?}

Agree1 Disagree1

Pardew needs to keep his mouth shut! its got him into trouble before and will again

Agree1 Disagree0

It's long season Ed. marathon not a sprint. {Ed024's Note - very true, where do you see Sunderland and Newcastle finishing ?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah he's english rarity for you lot, newcastle have more english players. Newcastle aren't a wee club, we're one of the biggest clubs in england by far bigger than you.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed024 - Think you might want to re-check the league table. {Ed024's Note - why ?}

what a few daft statement on here so everyone who plays for sunderland supported them as a kid grow up who cares who they supported as a boy as long as they give 100% for the team. if the whingers or the boo boys can't accept that then don't go the team needs every fan who goes through them gates to support them irrespective of wether you see an entertaining game or a dull 0-0 draw.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Obviously the person who disagreed is either a boo boy or not a sunderland supporter

Agree1 Disagree0

While I agree with your comments about the immature attitudes some have shown regarding Graham's history, your view that fans should support the team however dismal their performances is not correct. Football, though a sport, is about entertainment not tribalism. What you should expect is that you will be entertained every time you go to watch, regardless of the result. This is what O'Neill has overlooked; we want to see exciting football not timid, defensive formations set up to stop others playing. Being a proud supporter is meaningless if what you are supporting is the team's right to be second rate. And it does not make you a better of more loyal supporter if you are not prepared to complain when you are served up rubbish. Fans have every right to feel that the team and the manager have let them down too often this season, and have consistently not been worth the price of admission.

Agree0 Disagree3

What a load of tosh! Mind you, we'd expect nothing less from the head MONK. Listen Mr. Abbot have you started on that Trappist ale early?
15 months ago we were relegation dead certs - everyone could see it. So, with a bunch of very average Keane/Bruce players on lengthy contracts MON not only keeps us up, but gives us a very respectable 13th place finish. His team building and player release is a work in progress. Why can't you accept that? This football utopia you demand - you need to go and live in Catalonia ( loads of accommodation for you there) to see that consistently. As for performances being worth the admission price, out of 15 home league games, I reckon we were only really poor in 3 - Villa (0-1), WBA (2-4), QPR (0-0)
The only thing second rate is your unrealistic short term expectations. You need to learn the art of patience.

Agree2 Disagree0

So you would rather lose 4-3

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course I would rather lose 4-3 every week and go down than lose 1-0 and go down. I might even prefer to lose 4-3 and go down than watch us lose 1-0 regularly but grind out enough 0-0 draws to stay up. Because I go to see the team play football- a fairly simple game that involves scoring goals and trying not to concede them- not because I think my penis will be bigger if the team I support stays in the Premier league, despite not seeming to understand why football is played and however abysmal they are to watch. I confess, I am a football supporter first, which is what initially interested me in Sunderland, and I don't feel at all inferior to Geordies even if we lose every week and Newcastle are on top of the league. Because football is an entertainment for most of us- though there are a blessed few- we have quite a lot of them- for whom it is also a handsome living, allowing them through the vagaries of the market economy to earn more than a hundred nurses though they are, in the end, less important than a single one. Much as I feel sorry for you losers who live your lives through this club- because it lets you down regularly and you will live hard, disappointed lives-I don't think that should allow you to spout the nonsense you post here. God knows we all want to see the Lads win, but we also want to see football. And since O'Neill arrived we have played very little of that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Name previous managers where you have gone and watched sunderland play decent football at the top level i. e premiership or old league 1 having gone to roker park and the sol plus numerous away games in my 40 years of following sunderland I can name 1 peter reid. chelsea won the premiership under mourinho playing some of the most negative football by a team to win the top flight at the end of the day its results that win you games and as brucie used to say its points that get prizes so if we can win boring 1-0 and 0-0 draws and get us higher up the league I will accept that.

Agree1 Disagree0

'Much as I feel sorry for you losers who live your lives through this club'
'You will live hard, disappointed lives'

Who do you think you are?
I know one thing about you. You're no supporter of Sunderland AFC as you claim. You are a follower.
Go follow someone else - with your penchant for free flowing football I suggest Chelsea first, then after a few years Manchester United. You will find kindred spirits there.

No pleasing fans reading these comments.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Well, thank goodness that's over, now we can get on with the task in hand.
So, 15 months in, and whilst the football has not always been that pleasing on the eye, MON has taken us from relegation certainties to 13th place and now looking good for a top 10 finish. This against a backdrop of equalling the longest run in the top flight since season 1969/70.
I for one, as a fan since '69, am enjoying this stability and look forward already to next season under MON. A top ten finish would represent real progress for me and to break 50 points, an added bonus. I wish more fans would realise that Rome wasn't built in a day. Following Sunderland is a marriage not an affair. Be patient, trust the manager and get behind the team.
Like politics and elections, constantly altering course to change the decisions of others gets us nowhere.

the team I would play for reading.
Mignolet
Larsson oshea bramble rose
Sess gardner n'diaye johnson
Feltcher graham.
I just hope rose is fit as we miss him on the left. Interested in opinions. Safc93

Believable4 Unbelievable1

This is the team I would play if rose is fit - 4-2-3-1
Gk mignolet
Rb Gardner
CB O'Shea
CB mangane (if fit) / bramble
Lb rose
cdm ndaiye
Cdm Gardner
Rw sess
cf graham
Lw Johnson
St Fletcher

Then play catts instead of Gardner when.

Safcdj

Agree1 Disagree1

Not sure about switching Larsson and Gardner around but is a formation with two up front that gives us more options. My guess is Graham unlikely to start but come on off the bench

Agree0 Disagree0

Know we been short of players filling the bench making Safcdj believe Gardner can play in two positions!

Agree0 Disagree0

I've noticed that the last couple of games Sess has been playing more on the RW. That coupled with the fact that Elmo was allowed to go as soon as the Graham deal was done makes me think that he might start graham in behind Fletch and have Sess RW. Which I think would actually suit better in that it would allow Sess more freedom and Graham will be better at dropping in to help out the midfield. Of course I could be wide of the mark. Either way I think there are some very promising options. I definately think MClean is a perfect impact sub. I like Graham-his through ball against Stoke to set up a goal was just pure class. More of that please.

Agree2 Disagree0

Never clicked well suppose I'll have larrson instead then haha
Safcdj

Agree0 Disagree0

Gardner rb and cm?

Agree0 Disagree0

My team would be.

Mignolet
Gardner Oshea Mangane Rose N'diaye Vaughan Johnson
Sessegnon

Fletcher Graham

Agree0 Disagree0

So your formation is 7-1-2 worse tactics than we have now! I know what you mean though

Agree0 Disagree0

To the person that put not sure about swapping larsson and gardner my thinking was gardner is better in the middle and larsson plays rb for sweden so he knows what he is doing. Safc93

after he spoke to mon there was really only one north east club he was going to

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Yeah right, why do you think Graham only signed for Sunderland at the end of the window when Sunderland were chasing him for weeks?

Graham was stalling Sunderland in the hope Newcastle would make a move, he finally gave up at the end of the window and signed for you.

To be fair though he will be an excellent signing for Sunderland, he normally only needs one chance to score, which should fit in with your negative football.

Agree5 Disagree3

More likely that Swansea were holding out until the last minute for maximum cash and see who blinked first

Agree0 Disagree3

Do you really believe that? He is a Newcastle fan he would love to play for the Toon.

Agree5 Disagree2

Very few players are with teams they supported in childhood. Besides maybe real truth is that Graham's French isn't that good

Agree1 Disagree1

Newcastle did make a move but he choose us because he knows your on the slide and are full of frenchies, funny geordies can't hack that one of their own turned them down! HAHA

Agree1 Disagree2

Keep kidding yourself. you poor deluded member if the unwashed. On the slide? In your opinion maybe but at least we don't stand still every season like you lot do.

Agree2 Disagree1

Waddle is a sunderland fan and so was pop robson so grow up

Agree1 Disagree1

You beat the worst team in the league in villa and you think your world beaters reality check when chelsea and tottenham beat you the next 2 games and the slide starts again

Well its all over now. At least I can relax now, wife sick of me ckecking up all the time.
Quite happy with situation, all weaker areas now covered.
Hoped for more though.
Please Martin, now that we have got Graham, please play 4. 4. 2.
Mags are in the same situation that we were in, only having one decent striker.
Trouble for them is, whilst Fletcher always gives 100% Cisse can go missing on occasion and even their own fans hate Shola.

Jeez.

What I have noticed is all of our best players this season so far bar sess and migs are all mons signings
Fletcher
Rose
Johnson

All our poor performers have been bruces buys give mon time

Believable3 Unbelievable0

True to an extent although not sure Johnson has hot the mark that often. Also don't forget Saha never worked out and question mark over Cuellar, but overall have been more shrewd buys, not the lottery system played by Bruce

Agree0 Disagree0

Johnson has been shocking. What games you been watching?

Agree6 Disagree3

Johnson has 4 league goals and 4 league assissts. Not bad considering that matches Pinaars stats this season and generally Johnson has not played as well as we know he can. And he has definately been playing well since our upturn in form. He will only get better.

My only dissapointment is that we sold campbell at a ridiculous price and didn't have the foresight to offer him at least a years extra contract or even play him more. bad buisness I feel! as for the transfer window well most teams don't do much (apart from the mags and qpr who are replacing thier whole team!). so well have to get on with it till the summer!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

They see a lot more of the players than we do and would not of made a decision without careful consideration.
I think he was a great lad, but didn't make his presence fekt on the pitch.

Jeez.

Agree0 Disagree0

Come a point when have to decide whether going to cut losses. With Campbell always doubts if going to make the grade, especially without regular games. It was also useful to get his inflated salary off the wage bill. Similar situation with Meyler, also including how much has been affected by long injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

Campbell was on 30 000 grahams on 25

I really don't know why I support this club I think the biggest thing that let's this club down is the narrow minded fans that no nothing about football who claim to support this club because they don't support the team because they live in the city and see it a way to fight newcastle supporters I am 30 years old I moved here from glasgow 17 years ago die hard rangers fan and know all about hate for the rivals and no matter what's happened at rangers who's been in charge 50. 000. SUPPORTERS fill the stadium and get behind the team no matter what that don't happen and sol we have the best manager (fact) we have had in years the best players the best backing from a chairman that has know ties with sunderland what so ever and because we don't look like winning every game we need to sack the manager I honestly think we would be better off knocking sol down buid a new 25. 000 seater that we could fill with people that do support the team get a good atmosphere in there instead of the negitive vibes that's there now would also like to say they way a lot of people I'm not going to call them fans treated a man we have just spend 5 mill on was one of the worst things I have every seen in a game of football bang out of order

Believable3 Unbelievable1

You want to knock down a £24 million stadium to build one with half the seats meaning 16,000+ fans won't be able to come and back their team. That must be the most ludacris thing I've seen on this sight for financial reason. Not only would it cost millions to build a new stadium the club would lose about £300,000 to £400,000 per game. I really hope you aren't being serious

Agree0 Disagree2

He Woz talking sarcastically mate, I think he's making the point that real supporters Wudnt boo nd chant against a player we are about 2 sign, no matter who he supports, so if the real fans went to the stadium we would only need a 25 000 stadium nd I for one agree wit him, no club needs the so called fans who whinge nd boo their own players

Agree3 Disagree0

He was making a point he not serious I hope

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough each person who pays their money on the day can have their say! But what is baffling me how can you support the mighty Black Cats but be a die hard Rangers fan? I feel pain when the Cats lose and I can still see why people bitch and moan, but that is what they do not me I just feel hurt I love Sunderland til I cease to exist! Three or four top signings in the summer will make us much better next season! Build in a steady way just look at Pompey all the class players they had and won the FA cup but now just look I would be mightily deverstated if that happened to SAFC! QPR have signed players for silly money but what if they go down? Ellis is our man he did not become a Billionaire overnight! Red and White army all the way come on up the Black Cats!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ex Sunderland fan here, I gave up supporting a few weeks ago.

Team is rubbish.

Manager is rubbish.

Gonna support the Boro, at least Boro is going places. {Ed001's Note - funny, you were a Newcastle fan in your previous posts, why now pretend to be a Sunderland fan? How sad are you?}

Agree4 Disagree0

An EX-Sunderland fan dream on you would have to carry a head of brains SGB just carry on standing outside the Jobcentre with your Lonsdale tracky munching your fat face on a snickers bar with a can of Red Bull in your hand! Bugger off back to your own scunk site!
