I think everyone is overreacting as always after a derby. I completely agree that we have been poor so far this season. On the other hand teams and particularly pairings within teams take time to gel. This is how many times yesterdays pairings have actually played together

Rose & McClean 3
Cuellar & O'Shea 5
Gardner & Johnson 4
Colback & Larsson 3
Sess & fletcher 6
Players need time to understand each others game and nit together. O'Neil needs time. If we were bottom of the league without a win I could understand.
So far this season we haven't played a single game with our first choice in every position. As the pros always say- you can't tell anything untill 10 games have passed. O'Neil is a good manager and we have good players. Just need time.

You have won just 3 Prem league games out of 20 something games. That relegation form. So its not an over-reaction.

Bruce wanted time and he nearly got us relegated ..at least we are hard to beat ..but as a spectacle for fans we arnt producing it on the pitch !

Agree3 Disagree2

Firstly last season has nothing to do with this season-if it did Newcastle would be in 5th.We should judge on this season. We have only lost once this season. Had we played and got 3 points against Reading we would be tenth and above Newcastle(Would we still be relegation fodder then?).From 3 home games we have 2 more points than from the same games last season(and we've been awfull). Look at Everton (this season not included)- they are normally awfull for at least the first ten games. Does this mean they will get relegated-no. Does this mean they consider shouting for Moyes head-no. In seven games this season we have picked up 3 points more than the equivalent games last season. When this team gets to know each other better then I honestly believe we'll do well. Also to the mag who reckons we're relegation fodder-you're only 2 points ahead and we have a game in hand you. So really it's questionable who has had the better start. Be patient.

Agree1 Disagree3

If, buts and maybe?? Points on the board is what counts. The facts speak for themself as for Everton, not a good example as they finish the season strong as a rule and have a much better side than Sunderland. As for your better start than last season, well it couldn't get any worse could it.

Agree3 Disagree0

Didn't say we'd had a better start than last season. Was making a direct comparison to the same fixtures last season which is far more relevant. And we have more points in the fixtures. What is the point in comparing starts when you play different teams.Whether our start is good, terrible or indifferent we are only 2 points behind you with a game in hand. How can you tip us for relegation but pass not comment on your own position. Because as you say points on the board is all that matters. And last season out off the same fixtures you had 19 points not just 10. We've had an indifferent start neither good nor terrible. I would say exactly the same of Newcastle. Last season you were a million miles better than Sunderland(no issue in admitting that) This season that is yet to be the case as the table shows. Bring on the rest of the season...

Agree0 Disagree1

3 wins in 20 something game speaks volumes regardless if its over 1 or 2 seasons. You have had a full per season and the full support of your board. O Neil just isn't the god you thought. Far to defensive. As for us Europe will take it toll no doubt about it but that is only down to our owner who won't back the club.

Agree2 Disagree0

It is easy to suggest relegation is a possibility as you don't look capable of creating changes let alone score goals. So on that basis you will struggle to amount enough points to stay in the league. As for us if we took our chances against you lot we would have been 3 points off 4th. Point is we create chances you don't. Goals win games.

Agree1 Disagree0

And if you hadn't had a dodgy hand ball and two goals chalked of against everton you would be on exactly the same amount of points

Agree0 Disagree0

If we had the dodgy hand ball and the 2 goals chalked off that would leave us on 9 points and still 1 point above you. now get back to school and work on your maths

Agree3 Disagree0

If, buts and maybe again....what point you making? The fact is you ain't creating anything. No chances equals no goals, very few points if any and the possibility of relegation. Simple!

Agree1 Disagree0

Also if we work on your theory of if,buts and maybe's we wouldn't be on the same points as you we should have a penalty against you lot which would have finished the game. Swings and roundabouts isn't it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your on 10 points mate. Take off 2 and that leaves 8. The same point same points as us. My maths is fine you're ability to read is clearly not

Agree0 Disagree2

Ok well i never knew you got 2 points for a draw! We drew 2-2 and earned a point which eventually has helped our tally go to 10points now lets say 1 of everton's goals wasnt chalked off and they won 3-2 we would of lost 1 point not 2! Which eventually would mean we have 9 points. Now get back to school

Agree2 Disagree0

The hand ball referred to was the Demba ba goal that got you a draw at reading......

Sessegnon has been non-existent all season playing behind fletcher time for one of mcclean, johnson or sessegnon to be dropped to the bench so saha, wickham or mcfadden(when fit) can play up front with fletcher.
