I think we desperately need a top holding Midfielder
I think we should definitely go for
Serigne Kara or Lars Bender
They're 24, good tacklers, strong, descent passers and have a big engine in them

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lars bender is being chased by bigger clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Guidetti isc swedish

Agree0 Disagree0

Just rumour
Big clubs are always rumoured with any player with a bit of talent, doesn't mean they want him or will get him

Agree0 Disagree0

Errrr yes, Guidetti is Swedish, he's got nowt to do with this post

With Di Canio in charge
I expect a few Italians heading our way

RB:Danilo D'Ambrosio
CB:Angelo Ogbonna, Davide Astori
ST: Lorenzo Insigne, Mattia Destro, Marco Sau, John Guidetti
(These are some players I think we should target in my opinion)

What is this stuff about squad players? Either players are good enough to be in the team ot they are not. Perhaps an exception can be made for young players who clearly will improve, but need time. But the likes of Gardner, Larsson and Vaughan, who many are labelling good squad players, are players who have shown they should not be in the starting eleven, so what is the point of having them in the squad? Personally I would not put Gardner in this group, as I think he has generally done the job asked of him. But Larsson never had enough pace to be a winger, nor enough skill to play in midfield. Yes, one in ten of his dead ball plays pay off, but are we seriously saying he should be in the team to take free kicks? He tries, but he does not have what it takes to play in a struggling side. Perhaps Man. Utd could accommodate him, because of the strength of players around him, except they wouldn't. The same is true of Vaughan, who i'd by no means a disaster but is too small and frail to impose himself in the Premier League and does not have players around him who can win him time and space. Of course, we can't sign the 10 players we need to be competitive in one window, but it would be better to blood young players than retain old ones who we know will never really be good enough. One more thing- ow McClean gets on a football pitch is beyond me. Even at £350,000 he looks a poor buy- and what O'Neill saw in him God only knows, but he would not grace a Division Two match. Selecting him is like playing with ten men, except it is worse because mostly he gives the ball away- more like playing with ten men against twelve if the truth be told. So, sentiment aside, if we are serious about re-building then the dross has to go- better to take one financial hit now than keep paying millions to these donkeys for years to come. Only players that should be retained are:
Mignolet
O'shea
Colback
Gardner
n'Diaye
Johnson (who still owes us his fee!)
Sessegnon
Fletcher
Wickham (give him a proper chance- he looks good for the u21s, so if he doesn't look good here it is because we haven't learned how to manage/use him)
Westwood
Ji and Graham (both short term, the one as a possible wide man to bring on when you are behind, the other as a hard working forward who will keep the ball upfront when you are ahead)
So we need about six or seven signings, and to bring on the likes of Laing and Noble. of course we probably cannot get rid of the rest this summer, we it needs to be made clear to them that they have no future at the club. If you want to be successful, you need a squad made up of players who are all capable of performing; it is not a retirement home for those who are no longer up to it.

Heard Thiago Silva may leave PSG with the manager going to Real Madrid.

Should bring him and Micah Richards in.

Cavani for upfront.

Maybe someone like Jovetic for midfield.

Humour is a gift, and you have it! power to you!

To much fifa m8

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree. Humor is great!

Agree0 Disagree0

You still have to pay all the other players, you realise?

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to sign Rose but would like to see him play on the left wing and get another good experienced left back in behind him. 2 new strikers, some bulk in midfield as we are far to small and weak, and now a right back too.

So Titus Bramble is the first to go, no complaints there. He's been an embarassment from the start.

The revolution starts here?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He did ok, but he cost us a lot of points this season with his old shambles routine, still wish the lad the best wherever he goes, good luck Titus!

Agree0 Disagree0

Give his all to the cause but too clumsy at the end of the day. Good luck to him though. Safc93

Agree0 Disagree0

Titus gave his all?where at the the nightclubs, come on, he has done canny so don't feel sorry for him.

cavani enquiry was simply a ploy to get sunderland recognised and spoke about in the press over in italy as we are about to raid the country for talent there was never intention to go for cavani

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There was no intention of going for cavani, no bloody chance more like, I know it's banter but I wish us Sunderland fans would be more realistic, I know we can dream and hope, fingers crossed we do get some decent signings this year sooner rather than last min.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why release a story that Sunderland are loaded and can afford players like Cavani, and then when you move for a 2 million player Italian clubs will knock you back because they think you are loaded and can afford more.

If you have money to spend you don't advertise it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree, why broadcast that fact. A lot of people are going to be disapointed, if they think were signing that calibre of player, at those prices quoted. I think we'll get some good players, but not those at the top of the tree, out of reach. for now?

Im glad its just all fantasy name dropping on this site, we don't want wigan reading or qpr players, we don't want any big wage man city players, chelsea rejects, players who put money over appearances, Titus, Cattermole, Larsson, gardiner, vaughan, Carlos Cuellar,, Phil bardsley, Connor whickham, Danny graham all have failed to deliver. I would rather we went for players from southampton, swansea, and a few german league players

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Disagree with Vaughn Gardener and Larsson i'd keep them as squad players but the rest mentioned we need to ditch. we should have cashed in on Mclean in the summer and bought Rose permanently!. I can't see Liverpool getting him!. we need players all over the park!

Agree0 Disagree0

Underperforming players you, forgot to mention Johnson.

Agree0 Disagree0

Under Di Canio, Johnson has been back to his best
Which shows, from now on he will be playing at his best thanks to Di Canio

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Johnson will come good next season!

Agree0 Disagree0

We hopefully might still get rose. don't see the big clearout happening, this is already a paper thin squad, and just can't see us getting rid in one go. I can see a lot of players in tho! don't understand why you get rid of Catts, and Larson, 2 underated players who give their all, both with ability. Just an opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id keep graham as a squad player, if we get 5m for him then let him go but to be fair only one game he didn't perform well for us, he grafts hard and has been unlucky to score a few times, defo keep gards, vaughan and larsson are good squad players but not starters

Agree0 Disagree0

Id keep Graham why is it he s scoed a boat load goals at every club he's played for and not us?. keep him!

Agree0 Disagree0

Cattermole is a total embarrassment to SAFC, a convicted vandal going round representing our club to schools and hospitals etc. is a joke. He can't actually play football unless he is trying to maim the opposition, my god I will never understand how this thug gets paid millions by my beloved club. Get him out as soon as possible.

Anyone know any good central midfielders we should target
For me it's got to be Milner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good player but the only thing that worries me is PDCs temperament. I agree with his strict discipline methods BUT too much and he will damage team spirit and all the bad publicity will put top players from wanting to come to this club and play under him!. a balance is needed!

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree. I agree with what a lot of what dicanio is saying. , but should he be having a rant everyday. Somewhere or somehow it is just a matter of time before something is said or done. which willbackfire on him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Milner is just another work horse, like the players you already have in your squad.

Good at running around after the ball, average on it, and no flair for a pass or the long ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

You must be kidding
One of the best crossers iv seen
He has rockets for shots
He likes to defend, which is good
He has a fantastic pass, long and short!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd love milner and sinclair from city would improve our midfield 100%

Agree0 Disagree0

They would both have to take huge pay cuts!

Agree0 Disagree0

Some like milner some don't as for me I've never been a fan so it would be a no for me lads

Agree0 Disagree0

Your opinion is invalid
I love him
