Magpie here in peace, apart from a few clubs owned by russians or arabs, the way clubs look at the transfer window will have to change, We have all been saddled with money grabbing *******s over the years Michael Owen being our prime parasite so looking at players that are coming up to the end of their contracts at other clubs is a sound economical way to operate. How Bafatembi Gomis has not yet been snapped up is beyond me, he is out of contract in the summer, has a style that would fit perfectly into the Premiership yet no one has made a move as far as know, and they are a lot of others out there, for what you have to pay for a loan fee you can sign a player that's in the situation above. We need as many clubs from this area in the top flight as we can get. I hope for your sake MON get one or two more through the door as it seems some fans are getting frustrated, mind you, you want to have a look at the Arenal site, Wenger is driving the gooners fans crazy

Definitely. Rivalry aside, the North-East as a whole needs the 'Big 3' in the Premiership not only to provide healthy competition but to make the place better. Just being in the Premier League has boosted jobs and the local economy in Swansea and like I said, rivalry aside, I'm sure everyone wants to see this area do well. Newcastle have the right idea bringing in young continental players for 'cheap' who have everything to prove and we would do well to follow in your footsteps.

Agree7 Disagree0

I, m a mag and have to agree and yes I love the rivalry and banter and like the fact where both in the epl as derby days are awesome....AT LEAST I THINK SO.....k

Agree8 Disagree0

I would rather be playing newcastle or boro every season than the likes of wigan fulham southampton to name a few would be good for the area if all three could get esstablished in the pl

Agree7 Disagree0

Gomis would be an awsome signing for anyone he is on fire for lyon

Agree4 Disagree0

This region is by far the most passionate about its clubs and we don't run off supporting all the bigger clubs who win trophies like they are out of fashion. We are the most loyal and stick with our teams through thick and thin and it's about time that loyalty got repaid. I'd love to see more youth talent coming out of our academies and given a fair crack of the whip who play for the badge on the shirt rather than the next paycheck. Teams like Chelsea and Man City bore me to death as they go out and spend ridiculous amounts of money buying up everyone and then when these players don't get a chance to start, most aren't willing to take the huge wage reduction and then (no disrespect here) move to Russian and Middle Eastern teams which aren't exactly the best just to sustain their salary. Obviously anyone would do that as it would be crazy to refuse extra money. I for one would do that tomorrow and that's where the problem with todays football lies. It's all about the money unfortunately and not about the pride of the shirt.

Is o'neill trying to resurrect the dead or are we just becoming a last chance saloon ie (bridge, kyrgiakos, Saha, cueller, scharner) come on Martin sign a player that is going to excite us (hint not graham)

Believable8 Unbelievable3

VERY disspointed we didn't go for Sissoko we need that type of player here !

Agree4 Disagree2

The thing is was MON even interested in him? all I've heard was tabloid stories and rumours, I'm sure MON has many so called irons in the fire as he says and I believe him, this week we should bring in at least 3 more players that will improve us!

Agree1 Disagree0

Sissoko was going to nufc no matter what that's why I withdrew his chance of signing on fee to get the move....k

F*****g devastated with the reported interest in loaning former west brom & wigan cd/cm Paul scharner was rubbish when he was in his prime now 32 hamburg are desperate to get him off there books o' Neill do you only sign player that were very average 2 or 3 year's ago (fletcher and n'diaye exception) and do we actually have any money or not offloading developing team member's and fringe player's to save up to buy more fringe player's (graham) if that is the case stop wasting your time and our's please !

Believable9 Unbelievable0

What about the kids is their nothing coming through from the academy ? why pay milllions for it when we are get nothing out of it !

Agree2 Disagree0

Any promising players are sold to pay for it. Mon still lives in 80's. come on mon 32 year old never beens arent the answer. Spend some money and get us up that table. The higher we finish the better chance of attracting players(decent ones) not ones seeking final pay day

Why we are going after players over 30 is beyond me. Why try for scharner he's 32. Mon needs to sort this out should have had players in by now not wait until the last day!

Believable7 Unbelievable0

I aren't dissing mon as i, m a mag and it was a good move buying fletcher but imo mon thinks he, s cloughie and safc are notts forrest of the 80, s...k

Agree1 Disagree0

Both clubs see it as a short term deal. It's not like we're keeping him till he's 36 and 32 isn't too far off a cb prime age. It's Premier League experience to have at our disposal for nothing. (I hope he doesn't play too often though)

Ed to you have any idea what the tv deal is worth to each club from next just a rough figure supposed to massive is it {Ed001's Note - from what I can find out, the equal split of 50% of TV revenue will amount to £23m (roughly) per team. The there is the prize money, which should increase by roughly double and the payments for being shown on TV which will be up to around 10m for the most watched teams. The overseas rights should be up a couple of million from £18 (ish) to £20m (ish) as well. There are no final figures available yet, so I had to work it out as close as I could. The prize money should be roughly around £1.5m for 20th, then it increase by £1.5m for every place you finish about 20th.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Doesnt make any difference as will end up in the accounts of players, agents, lawyers and accountants as well as lots of brown envelopes as usual. Time we at least adopted the German system of running clubs and not allow supposed 'fit and proper owners' to syphon off to tax-free havens.

Anyone seen Mangane's tackle that suspended him from French football for two years?
Looking forward to the derby to see who gets sent off first. Mangane, Clattermole or Tiote?
I'm going to put a cheeky tenner on Mangane. Hated in France and isn't afraid to put a tackle in. Could be the most fierce derby in years!!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

It was a one off bad tackle that was slightly late but a bit high.

Agree1 Disagree4

Ive seen plenty of late tackles like that in the premiership !

Agree2 Disagree2

Usually Catts.

(i'm a mag) looking forward to derby with all of our signings! Could be the one of the best in a few years!

It's amazing that after they sign a few players the barcodes suddenly start squawking, they go on like they've signed Messi and yet they haven't even won a game with these players. They are too busy looking at Youtube montages of these new players they still haven't had time to look at the table... (Little do they know I could make Jeff Whitley look good in a Youtube montage)

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Why is everyone so worried about who "le Skunks" are getting. are you forgetting that they are still in more of a relegation fight than we are and we still have 5 days left. that's more than enough time to get in 2-3 decent players in.

Any one else thinking that MON is waiting till the swansea home match to sort the Danny Graham deal when he can talk to laudrup face to face.

as a sunderland fan I wonder how many sunderland fans on here would have been dissapointed if we had just signed the players who the skunks have bought and especially for the prices they have paid. I for one think these are good deals but not sure if they would make a difference to our team. yes I think these are panic buys but its a catch 22 situation which if they gel quickly will see them move away from the bottom but if they don't then a certain bottom 3 will def come to them. so I think we should take a back seat on who they have signed and hope we can make the right signings that will def improve our team and not sign a couple of players for buying sake in mon and ellis short we have to trust and although its a long term plan they have I can see us moving in the right direction maybe at a slow pace than the fans want patience lads and the good times will surely come

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Short certainly tightening the purse strings with the mass clear out at the Academy and selling/loaning anyone unlikely to be given regular starts.

Agree2 Disagree2

Obsessing about the Toon again, we know you Mackems are closet Newcastle fans, how could you not be considering the boring team you support.

As for Debuchy, Mbiwa and Sissoko being panic buys... you obviously have no clue about these players. Stick to what you know, which isn't much outside of your own back yard. hehe.

Agree4 Disagree3

Only a mackem could think that having more talented players could actually have a negative impact on a team.

Agree3 Disagree3

Well for the 2 mag replies how have ye seen these players play before there is no coverage on sky don't tell me ye sit in the house and watch the games on the internet like ye do newcastle you really are sgb {Ed001's Note - French footie is covered on ESPN, there is plenty of coverage.}

Agree5 Disagree1

They are only good deals if they hit the ground running, if they don't then they're in serious trouble! Looks ay giroud and I took sess half a season to adapt... Cant see them sticking around if they go down.

Agree1 Disagree1

Didn't qpr sign better players in the summer? That's worked out well so far hasn't it!

Agree0 Disagree2

Lets see how long they stay when they drop down to the 2nd tier les frogs will jump ship

Agree0 Disagree3

I can think of better things to do with my life than sit and watch foreign football on espn I bet you can't wait till the european games start again then you can have football on everynight of the week

Agree0 Disagree0

Only one i'd take is Sissoko ! great player price age !...gutted we didn't get him !
