first of all I like most sunderland fans would like to thank dick for keeping us up but his decision not to stay has come as a relief to myself as I know through previous clubs that dick doesn't like introducing the youth into the first team wherever he has been this has been a major factor. I hope that whoever we get will try to bring some of the youth through on performances for the reserves whatmore would have been givem a chance either starting or from the bench as we don't have the money like the big clubs our best way forward would be through the youth and if we can find a couple of jordan hendersons then tie them down with good deals and long contracts let's hope the club has learnt its lesson from previous dross we have brought in and give some of the youth a chance and keep any signings down to quality (e.g evans hernandez from Manchester United fer from qpr to name a few) and not quantity once again thanks for keeping us up dick and enjoy your retirement

You are dead right Gary Sunderland have only had success 1973 when we had a large % in the squad of North East born players.

The first thing that Poyet said when he arrived in Sunderland was "Its cold and windy"

Short could not wait to sell Jordan Henderson as soon as possible and we need to develop our own players.

This region has produced players like Raich Carter,Colin Todd,Milburn,Gascoigne etc and this is the route we need to take.

If we offered Jordan the wages and told hime we would build a team around him maybe we could have kept him.

How about Colin Todd for Manager or working alongside Paul Bracewell

cheers dobermann for your understanding mate I see cocu has come in for support for the job I think this would be a massive signing if we could get him to leave psv after just guiding them to the league title. I backed koeman over the last few years when the job came available and he has had a great first season at southampton ncluding blooding that young 16 year old in the league. these dutch coaches work in holland with no money to buy players as most of their clubs are selling clubs and I would think that cocu would be a great accuasition to the club and I can see him blending a lot of our youth in with the experiance players over the season also he maybe able to bring in some young dutch talent what does anyone think about a dutch manager

Agree with both of the above on the youth element! . but it looks like both Paul Clement and Moyes don't want the job with the former wanting to join Derby! so where does that leave us!??

I don't think the fans really get the manager the want purely as there is never an outstanding candidate. The Echo poll bares this out.
I was always a Mark Hughes advocate but we got Bruce the Excuse then O'Neil followed by the next two chancers who should never have been anywhere near our club. I just hope that for all our sakes it's someone with a bit of experience and tactical nouse who can try to build on a decidedly dodgy foundation.

I see Watmore has got the Barclays u21 Player of the year! I just hope in the interim period of finding a manager that Ellis Short and Lee Congerton don't allow the likes of Watmore to leave as clubs are likely to advantage of a managerless club like us to pick off the cream of players like vultures! simply just say NO!

So he has decided to not take on the monster job of turning us into a decent footballing team. Can't blame him, there is loads of work to be done.
Thanks for keeping us up.

Who next?
Big sam?
Carlo?
Rafa?

8 players out. 6 in another transfer window lc needs to pull a few rabbits out of the hat

Let us hope that for once we look for someone who can credibly manage a top half club, and keep them there. MOYES, MOYES MOYES.

Well done Dick for doing great job but I felt he is not the long term answer for this club!I just hope its not Allerdyce . i'd go for Paul Clement if he's still availble aswell as a premier ship experience assistant as he'd be a long term manager who would use the young talent in this club!
