Kierans off to fulham, massive shame but cheers to the lad, he's been a diamond. Let's hope we're getting something out of this deal (like clint Dempsey maybe) ftm

i dont claim to be the most knowledgable football fan but can somebody please tell me what oniell sees in jenas. i will be devastated if we sign him. hardly played for 3 seasons and when he was at his best he was very average.please martin after 4 great signings dont let yourself down by signing this heap of crap.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

4 great signings? Cuella,Saha and Fletcher are average at best and do you ever wonder why NO-ONE else wanted Johnson? Liverpool and Spurs were NOT interested in him.

Agree2 Disagree9

Look at johnsons stats from last season. Almost identical to Ben Arfa who I'm sure you mags think is fantastic.

AJ 26 games 6 goals 5 assists
BA 26 games 5 goals 7 assists

AJ Minutes per goal 190
BA Minutes per goal 195

If you're referring to the rumours that he is lazy. If that is the case then why has he bothered moving anywhere. If he is that lazy he could sit on his backside for most of the season at city collecting double the money he will be at Sunderland. As for saha and fletcher there goal scoring record is 1 in 2.7-Demba bas is only 1 in 2.3. So yes O'Neil has made some excellent signings. As for Jenas-we've been linked with 100 players this transfer window and I'm pretty sure we've only signed 4.

Agree6 Disagree1

Ben arfa was 5 million and costs 40k a week.....johnson was 12 million and u broke your wage structure at 80k a week u see the difference but i admit johnsons a good player....k

Agree1 Disagree2

You know how much his wages are,do you? no i dont think so! why worry about who we've signed, look closer to home and worry about who you might lose. release the green eyed monster, you'll feel better.

Agree1 Disagree0

At last a mag who says johnson is a good player, and the reason we payed more for johnson than benarfa is because benarfa was causing trouble for his club,so they wanted rid asap, thats how you got him for a knockdown price.tk73

Agree3 Disagree0

Thanks tk73 does that make him a bad player???? as i know for certain that johnson is known for having a bad attitude and for party, ing hard but he,s still a good player......k

Do you think that Sess will leave? I know his odds for a departure to Tottenham are 8/11, which would suggest it's almost a done deal but there has been no news since.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

He is the play maker we need , he compliments the new signings perfectly.

Agree7 Disagree0

28 Aug 2012 10:48:38
I don't want Dempsey ,why I hear you say well....just look how he has treated fulham with no respect what so ever do we need someone like this at Sunderland he would be another gyan ,besides which hewants wants to go Liverpool

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Id take him in a flash so your telling me if you where at a tiny club like fulham for 7 years you wouldnt want out id get sick me

Agree2 Disagree2

What makes you think Blunderland's a bigger club than Fulham.....they've played in europe more than you lot and fill there ground.....he might not want to play in front of rows and rows of empty red seats at the riverside lookalike sos

Agree4 Disagree6

Fulham fill their little ground?

Agree4 Disagree0

Sess went on strike before he came to us so is no different to Dempsey.

Agree0 Disagree0

How bigs your ground

The Stadium Of Light is an all-seater football stadium in Sunderland, England. With space for 49,000 spectators, the Stadium of Light has the fifth-largest capacity of any English football stadium. The stadium primarily hosts Sunderland A.F.C. matches. The name Stadium of Light is a tribute to the traditional mining industry, which brought prosperity to the town; a Davy lamp monument stands at the entrance.

As well as hosting Sunderland games, the stadium has hosted two matches for the England national football team, as well as one England under-20 football team match. With an original capacity of 42,000, it was expanded in 2002 to seat 49,000, and its simple design is expected to allow for redevelopments up to an eventual capacity of 66,000. The attendance record at the Stadium of Light is 48,353 set on 13 April 2002, when Sunderland played Liverpool. The stadium has played host to performers such as Oasis, Take That, Kings of Leon , Coldplay and Bruce Springstein amongst others.
Stadium of Light attendances are regulary in the top 2 or 3 (sometimes higher) on matchdays in the Premieship.
Sunderland AFC "OWN" their own ground outright, unlike many other clubs who rent their grounds from their local councils.
How many England games has Fulhams ground, Craven Cottage hosted in recent years, if ever?

Agree3 Disagree1

Notice how Sunderland fans are starting to creep back into the pubs..... season 2011-2012 your average was 39,095..... getting lower all the time.......small club playing in a ground thats to big for you....

Agree2 Disagree3

Still we are 7th in the attendance league and unlike some of the clubs we actually own our ground out right. Which as owners means we are not paying profits from the attendance to the councils. I believe Liverpool dont own theres and newcastle certainly dont.

Agree2 Disagree1

Yet historically SAFC have had the biggest crowds on average compared to NUFC . Our time will come again. Tony SAFC

Agree4 Disagree2

Some of those games were with Bruce in charge. We were on a downward spiral, The crowds will come with MON and his own team and players.

Agree3 Disagree2

Your attendance was low for your first european game,47 fans lol and you have the nerve to call our attendances. Btw the original poster strikes me as being very jealous and bitter, possibly because we are being more active in the transfer market and Newcastle are doing nowt. Get over it you look really sad clutching at straws and coming out with the same rubbish over and over again

Agree1 Disagree1

Your attendance for europe was nil a big fat zero ups sorry aint got into europe......

Agree2 Disagree0

Aye mate, enjoy Urdistan and all other countries that end with stan and gan! Europe, lol. Im pleased for the Mags.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye and SAFC took 1000's to Korea! a bit of a treck further than Europe?
Hmmm, just a tad, I would guess?
Tony Safc

Agree0 Disagree2

Sunderland had the highest attendance of the night last night against morecombe.

We won't be signing another top striker as O'neill will only be playing one out and out striker and the likes of Defoe and Berbatov won't move to sit on the bench behind Fletcher

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Berbatov would be the 1st name on the sheet, NO WAY fletcher is better than him!

Agree2 Disagree1

28 Aug 2012 10:04:40
shorter price than he was yesterday so how u can say he is not signing?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2012 09:47:23

So what are the your predictions about the signing being shown off before the match? And what are your score predictions. I don't have a signing prediction but I'm going 3-0 fletcher McLean and saha. Safc93

Believable0 Unbelievable1

1-1 and a crowd of 16000.

Agree2 Disagree4

Was that the game in greece the other day with your 47 fans SGB. Safc93

Agree2 Disagree2

Greece on a Thursday night is a big ask. So why cant you fill your stadium every other week when for most its walking distance? SMB.

Agree5 Disagree1

Fair point me thinks......k

Agree1 Disagree0

We did take over 1000 to our pre season friendlies which were just a little futher than greece

Hi ed any more news with dempsey {Ed052's Note - Rumours persist about him coming to Sunderland. However, he has been for a long time close to moving to Liverpool. I expect him to move to Liverpool. Hopwever, it could depend on sales if he goes to Liverpool. }
