i was watching the north east news this afternoon and their sports reporter said that we have a chance of europe because we are top of the form league.... im not saying we will get into europe and i dont want any stupid geordies commenting sayin im delussioned or anything all im saying is that it is isnt impossible

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Your delusional

Agree2 Disagree1

All im going to say is how come it isnt impossible for your lot, but we are 5th and if we talk about europe then were dillusional just a sensible question no harm intended
geordie jonty

Agree3 Disagree1

Totally agree with third post

Agree2 Disagree0

You had better ask the ne news reporter? yes you are 5th,so you must be in with a chance, only time will tell.for us to finish in europe,i think, would be nothing short of a miracle, after the start we had.i just want the team to continue their current form, and win as many points as they can.as i said time will tell.

Agree1 Disagree0

That is a very good question. 3rd remark. especially as we are missing key players who will be back very soon.

Agree2 Disagree1

It makes sense, just keep winning with o'neil and no reason you can't catch arsenal. only 7 points off.

Toon Fan

Agree1 Disagree0

Well thanks for not being an person in response glad to see not everyone of you are tools haha, i personally dont think we will get into europe but anything is a bonus considering where we were 2 seasons ago, but i do think we will just edge it between the NE top dogs purely because if we keep this form up then hopefully we will have tiote BA and cisse to come back into the team on a high and that would definetly not be a bad thing haha, but good luck on the 4th because the 2 dembas are coming
geordie jonty

Agree0 Disagree1

We have points to catch up, but I feel Sunderlands run in is a little more (on paper ) easier, no!! we arent going to win every game but as a points tally I see Sunderland edging it. I do however feel we have to beat the Mags ( OK a draw would keep things in the mix) to Make sure. There are still plenty points to play for! Lets be happy though for now, both teams should be safe for another Prem campaign, The Mags first season back in the PL and Sunderland pulling away from a poor start to move up the table. Everything else is a bonus.

At the start of the season after the summer transfer window had closed and teams had to put forward their 25 man squad (over 21 year olds), the team in the Premiership with the youngest average aged squad was Norwich, Man Utd second and Arsenal third. If you Geordies were wondering where you guys were it was 6th (25.54 yrs). Oh and we were 5th (25.5 yrs). I don't know what the current listings are after the January window has closed. Just thought a would mention it.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Sorry just to confirm I am a mackem. Also I'm not gloating or trying to set up a debate, it's just a simple statistic.

Agree1 Disagree1

Until the 2 oaps Bridge and Greek someone came in , OH, and the oap manager

Agree5 Disagree1

34476 what a pathetic crowd,

Believable5 Unbelievable1

At least we are not jammy you should have been well and truly stuffed saddo

Agree3 Disagree1

Most of yours are keegan band wagoners any way haha good times at sunderland dont care about attendances just the points will do :) FTM

Agree1 Disagree2

Luck luck luck! The fact is good teams have luck!

Agree0 Disagree0

Jammy after 23 games and we're 5th...wake up, your showing how little you know about the game.....and about Keegan's band wagoner's remember we backed our team in the championship with bigger crowd's than you lot got in the premier that season and bigger than your average last season and this season too.....not band wagoner's just very loyal to our club....still jealous of the toon mackem

Agree2 Disagree0

Before Keenan in championship average gate 11,000-13,000 not loyal just glory hunters and before you say we had more two years ago you were flying top of league so it's obvious

Agree0 Disagree1

Before Keegan we were on the verge of relegation to Div 3....that same season you's got to a FA Cup final against Liverpool so Blunderland was buzzing......we still had a higher average ....

I think Ji looked pretty sharp when he came on.
He looks a better proposition than Whickham to me.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Agree2 Disagree1

Reading that Scumderland made a last ditch effort to sign Vertonghen of Ajax, but obviously he just laughed. Why dont they get their own scouting team instead of following the Toons about?

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Aye ,just like the kid who would rather go to Wigan from Watford than play for the Jawdies.

Agree3 Disagree4

I think you will find he turned down wigan because he wanted to come to the toon mate.

Agree4 Disagree3

What makes you think we followed. Who is to say you were interested first or even interested at all. All rumours and gossip.

Agree2 Disagree1

He turned Wigan down not us... Do you know how to read? Obviously not sunderland don't have schools

Agree2 Disagree1

At the end of the day is he a toon player ermmmmmmm...... nope SGB

Agree1 Disagree1

If he didnt turn you down? why was Pardueon telly saying he wouldnt have another chance with the skunks if he left for wigan? As it turned out he went nowhere.

Agree0 Disagree1

For gods sake! how many other clubs do you think are looking at vertonghen, and i bet they all followed your scouts too! haha totally laughable, you have to stop, your cracking me up,it's so stupid!

funny how the geordies are mocking us for our defenders being in their 30's when we have the 4th best defence in the league. city conceded 19 goals, united and liverpool 21 and us 24

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Funny how you mock Demba Ba's knee... Yet he manages to be the 2nd top scorer this season. Oh and weve scored more goals than your strikers.. Heskey and Davies a

Agree0 Disagree0

Heskey and davies???? wtf has this geordie been smoking? another clown on loser trip

Agree1 Disagree0

Ba isnt the 2nd top scorer mate and wow you lot only scored about 4 more

Agree0 Disagree0

And our midfield has scored more than your midfield,so there,na na. keep off the blue smarties mate. oh and its only 2 more goals

Another good win for your lot tonight...and good one for us too without our top players.

Looking forward to the derby.... a contest between 2 good teams, not like start of season where we were both shocking.

Sunderland and Newcastle in Europe next season...possibility

Toon Fan

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Would be great for us both to knock arsenal and liverpool off the europe places and why not they are both so unconsistent and we are winning games week in week out keep it up north east!

Agree5 Disagree1

Agreed and thanks...we were missing a couple, but its all about the squad these days. europe? wouldn't like us to get ahead of ourselves, with big games coming up. hoping the derby is a good advert for ne.

Agree4 Disagree0

Because of our poor start to the season i think europe is too far away maybe if we can keep our players with a couple of additions we could give it a go next season mad max

Agree2 Disagree1

Cant wait till next season then we start from scratch and not a handicap like this season

Agree2 Disagree0

Reports in France say segesson will leave in the summer, going to Lille to replace Joe cole once his loan expires.
Also a chance he could move to Newcastle to play in Europe.
MakemSteveB.

Agree0 Disagree1

No team start with a handicap. always looking for excuses. SMB.

Agree2 Disagree0

We had a handicap!! We had Steve Bruce!

Hi,

Toon fan here in peace just have a question for you guys. At the start of the season you were on about how you would be challenging for Europe easily but were you aware you can only guarantee Europe by finishing 5th or winning/being runner up in a cup to a champions league qualifying team and with that in mind do you still think you will finish in Europe. Again not a dig just a genuine question

Itoons

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Whoever said europe was dreaming, our aim for this season was bout 7th or 8th, building on last season, I still think we will finish above newcastle but I think we will finish 7th and newcastle 8th or 9th

Agree3 Disagree6

A good cup run and just take one game at a time like we are now and anything is possible at the end of the day we are winning games and not conceding many goals so europe, why not?

Agree2 Disagree1

Having to replace so many players, and rebuild team,i dont think many people saw europe as a realistic target.just hope team can continue current level of form until the end of season.top half is a result after the start we had!

Agree1 Disagree1

Having to replace a team and play so many players??? no mate , one reason and one reason only! Steve Bruce!! No plan B, ( Not sure if he even had a plan A?) no idea of using subs , no positional play now clue what so ever? MON comes in with same squad and we have a plan, a will, style and organisation and most importantly results!!!

Agree2 Disagree1

Top 6 plus runners up in cup i think ed? {Ed001's Note - There are three places available in the UEFA Europa League:
The FA Cup winners will enter at the Group Stage
The fifth-placed team in the Barclays Premier League will enter at the Play-Off stage
The Carling Cup winners will enter at the Q3 stage
In the event The FA Cup winners also qualify for the UEFA Champions League, The FA Cup runner-up will qualify for the UEFA Europa League, but in the place reserved for the lowest ranking Barclays Premier League representative.
The place with direct access to the Group Stage will be given to the club that finishes in the highest position in the Barclays Premier League of the clubs qualifying for the UEFA Europa League.
If an English team wins the UEFA Europa League they will enter the next season's competition at the Group Stage, gaining an extra domestic place only if they fail to qualify through other means for either of the two European competitions.
If the holders of the UEFA Europa League have already qualified for Europe, no extra domestic place will be gained.
If The FA Cup winners, runners-up (if applicable) and the Carling Cup winners have already qualified for Europe, their place goes to the next best placed clubs in the Barclays Premier League.
That's what the Premier League itself states.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think you read my post correctly! never mentioned playing so many players! replacing so many players at the end of last season, henderson, zenden, mensah, onuha, muntari, gyan etc, meant we wer'nt going to have the greatest of starts.i dont disagree that bruce became increasingly inept, and he takes responsibility.i was responding to the original question...mate... which was do we still think we will finsh in europe! what do you think?

Sunderland city council reject idea from sunderland to increase the capacity of sos as Sunderland keep filling all their stadium.
