Well that's it over now until January so we have our squad of players to work with.
My assessment is as follows: -
Negatives
The main negative is the lack of players leaving. This shows that they are poor quality players who are more than likely on higher wages than they deserve. Hopefully the Loan Window for the Championship will allow us to shift out Bridcutt, Buckley and so on to try and ease some of our finance issues.
The only other slight negative is the lack of another quality CB. I think Kaboul will come good once match fit and match sharp but Coates is too slow and JOS not quote at the highest level anymore.
Positives
The signings we have made Lens and M'Vila in particular, look to be the next level of quality above the current squad so have improved our team as opposed to stagnating.
Borini will always give 100% so I also see him returning as a positive. He again is better then the incumbent players so again improves us.
We also need to look at the fact that we have scored 6 in 4 where as last season we could not score 2 in 4!
Time to get behind the team now and hopefully watch us move up the table.

Now with the squad we have I would rather Watmore and Gooch on the bench/ playing every week over the likes of Buckley and bridcutt. There's more potential there and they actually want to play football!
Yedlin is a plus coming in, he will want to play and get as much premier league experience as possible. Shame we couldn't get another CB and LB in but will have to work with what we have now.

LB: PVA (unfortunately)
CDM: Cattermole
CDM: M'Vila
CAM: Toivonen
RF: Lens
ST: Defoe
LF: Borini
We are pretty versatile going forward with Johnson so come back as well. Borini and Lens can play anywhere across the front 4.
This leaves the likes of Mannone, Jones, Coates, Rodwell, Larsson, Gooch and Watmore amongst the subs.

Roswell in for catts. chatter ole needs a wake up call as his performances are way below his best so far.

Maybe give van aanholt one more chance, while its still early, then if there's no improvements, Jones has experience at left back, and yedlin or Matthews could probably play there. Personally I think that premier league fullbacks should be able to play either side, it's not difficult.

agree! considering how bad pva has been, surely da has one eye on playing yelling left back. like dark grey cats says, it can't be too hard.

As has been said on here if we play Borini on the left he should be able to help PVA out on that side . remember also that off form players like Coates Catts and PVA played so well last season and they don't lose that over night all will come good again! Personally think the American is a great signing and will give us great pace both at the back and going forward!
