What is it about Sunderland? How much money have we ploughed into the squad in recent years and for what; one spawny top-10 finish and, after several near scrapes and handful of managers, we now find ourselves heading for the Championship where all of those players we've invested in will swan off to their next club. If we assume all of the Bosmans will go as well as the loanees, the January window signings (Bridcutt aside) and then you're looking at the "stars"; Brown, O'Shea, Fletcher, Johnson, Altidore, Giaccerini all likely to be going for next to nothing. What will we be left with; a mid-table Championship side?

When you forfeit the Hull game and with it a great opportunity for two more trips to Wembley and in all likelihood a place in Europe, you have to make sure the reason you're doing it comes to fruition. What have we got since that abysmal display on Humberside; one point is it?

Two wins against Newcastle and two cup finals would have been great fun even with relegation at the end of it but now I just want this season over; we're going down, the wins over Newcastle and the League Cup Final all seem a long time ago.

Sorry for this unburdoning; I'm just so annoyed, frustrated and disappointed having seen yet another inept showing tonight.

I share your dismay at the pathetic error-strewn performances, especially against relatively weak opposition who have shown us time and again the spirit and application this bunch lacks. But I can't imagine there will be a queue for ageing centre-backs whose mistakes have cost us several games. Nor can I see anyone rushing to sign Fletcher, who we wasted a whole summer chasing, and has been the most expensive among many flops- Giaccerini, Graham, Scocco, take your pick! I think we can see that Di Canio was right in realising the whole bunch needed to be replaced, though his selection of replacements was no better. Short can't get his money back on this collection of losers, and as we have seen this year, it is false economy to persevere with them, because it is precisely these joke central defenders and goal shy attackers that will cost us relegation. However much has been squandered on buying and paying hugely undeserved wages to them, we will still be better off with them off the pitch and off the payroll. That is the one potential benefit of going down- we might finally get rid of these leeches.

Another shambolic display. Wholly outwitted by the Hammers' cunning long ball approach- who could have expected that, Gus?- and with all our old favourites showing why they would not get into another premier outfit- central defenders who can't defend, attackers who can't score, playmakers who can't pass and of course Cattermole- who can't do anything. Take away Ki, Borini and Alonso, who I guess will all be relieved when this campaign ends and they can escape the culture of unrelenting mediocrity that runs through the club, and Johnson, who will probably move for less than half of what he cost to somewhere he can get on the pitch, and they will struggle in the Championship. This is as poor a team as I can remember in 50 years of (mostly) disappointments. But it is also the most expensive and the highest paid. What a bloody shower!

Don't understand why poyet plays a team to go down then when we behind bring goal threat on? Instead of playing the team from start! We prob would of won if he new what he was doing.
