I can already see Wickham being given a chance straight away against Chelsea. I think Di Canio is more about work ethic and class rather than "Oh look we paid £8m for him and he's not scoring" MoN did not really give him a run in and I hope that Paolo with try and give him a boost of confidence. Knocking goals in for fun with England U'21 team so I'd give him a shot. Who else do you think will be played more/less?

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Colback, bramble and larsson will all be played less

Agree9 Disagree2

All players will be looked at afresh and given a chance. Llarsen was one of the few players to show that he cared and showed this on the pitch to Mon, who then dropped him.
Players like Colback showed more promise earlier, and the change in manager and tactics etc. may well be to their advantage.
Who can we play instead of Bramble?
I would play either McClean or Johnson on the left with Llarsen on the right.

Agree2 Disagree2

There is either mangane, Cuellar or Killgalon instead of bramble

Agree3 Disagree2

Bramble needs to not be played at all. ever again!

Agree4 Disagree3

Id prefer Bungle Zippy or George to Bramble!

Agree4 Disagree3

Been a Sunderland fan for 15 years and I have decided to leave the club as a supporter.

All this Di Canio business is too much.

I don't know this club or fans anymore.

I am humbly going to take my leave and start supporting Newcastle.

Thanks for good times.

Thought we were going somewhere with O'neill but alas, this is the end of the road. {Ed024's Note - Do you really think that anyone believes you were ever a Sunderland fan - have they let you out for Easter ??}

Agree4 Disagree2

Another Mag with a poor sense of humour.
Has everyone read on their site, how they want rid of Pratdew again.
Kay was on the other day saying how we were fickle fans etc. etc. for wanting rid of Mon.
Lol.
They are worried that PDC keeps us up and Pratdew takes them down.
Wait for the Jizz comment, because she can give it out but not take it.

Agree4 Disagree1

And you going to get get better times at the geordies then? haha mags these days, admin I thought mags get banned pretending to support another team? time to go! time to go! geordie loser it's time to go! SGB SGB SGB!

Please tell me why is it this Di Canio witch hunt wasn't done when he was at Swindon for one and a half years?. nothing was mentioned then?

Believable9 Unbelievable0

Because a certain mr milliband put his 2 bobs worth in plus sunderland has a lot of left wing radicals in the city who try to preach their beliefs

Agree3 Disagree2

Because Swindon are not Premier League. When you move up to play with the big boys then it all comes out.

Agree5 Disagree1

Why didn't the southern press bring it up when he brought out his autobiography when he was playing for west ham

Well di canio has come out and said he is not a facist or racist. Still won't stop the person journalists of this country from dragging his reputation down. Safc93

Believable4 Unbelievable0

The whole thing is totally WAY over the top! let's get on with the football and beating Chelsea!

Agree5 Disagree0

I can see us doing it aswell, the cartoon army fans may say i'm deluded but chelsea not playing well and the boost off di canio may just be enough. Safc93

Agree4 Disagree1

Mr McFadden has been putting his views over against pdc the best way to let him know that we as sunderland fans don't care about politics just about our club is to stop buying his rag a love supreme.

Agree4 Disagree0

Sinclair said he was as mad as a hatter!. thought that was so funny!

I am really becoming bored with all the blown out of proportion negative press that PDC and our club are getting. let's all get behind our new manager and the club and see if we can get out of this mess that MON allowed us to be in. Well done Ellis for making this change which should of been made weeks ago. If we go down then let's go down fighting and get behind our team and let's not add to the circus that the media is trying to create. c'mon SUNDERLAND!

Agree8 Disagree0

You will never get ogbonna, isla and miccoli. They're all players that are being or were chased by top 6 clubs, isla has just gone to juventus! why would he want to move to sunderland? same with miccoli and ogbonna! If I were you, i'd just draw a line between fifa and real life.

When O'Neil (media darling) was appointed I don't seem to remember them dragging up the fact that he refused to condemn Celtic fans secretarian chanting. It seems to depend on who you are.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

What in heavens name is secretarian chanting. This just may be from a skunk, just a wild guess. HaHa.

Agree5 Disagree1

Secretarian. wheres my head at today. That must bechants about office workers.

All those who have signed the petition sunderland against fascist's and also the Durham miner's I fully respect your decision's on the matter and if you choose not to attend sunderland game's while di Canio is the club's manager then that is your prerogative but allow us fellow supporter's to give are full backing to the new manager in the hope he may be able to do the job for which he has be employed to do which is hopefully help sunderland a. f. c retain there premier league status also had he made the move to a southern based club ie Chelsea would the Fleet Street press still have tried to dig up all this dirt and tried to discredit them I think not it may have gone more along the line's of bright young talent given chance at the top for I do not personally agree with his quoted/misquoted fascist statement I believe everyone has the freedom of speech and should be given that right when asked it's not as if he is preaching his belief's also how forgiving we are of are own ie mr g hoddle who claimed that disabled people were being punished for crime's in a past life
Have his belief's changed

Believable10 Unbelievable1

David Milliband's resignation could be seen as convenient as his new job will take him to the USA and it's highly unlikely that he would have been able to continue as a director. It also illustrates that politicians have no integrity when you appreciate MPs fiddling of expenses and Milliband's part in the invasion of Iraq. What is the greater crime - lying so that our forces were sent to Iraq or making a statement 8 years ago that you are a fascist. How many Sunderland fans withdrew their support when Milliband was made a director? Di Canio may be regretting his past comments and actions but he needs to be given the opportunity to relent and move forward.

Agree6 Disagree1

I am not very happy with the selection of PDC. However, I will always be there to support the team.
The decision was made by Short and whatever fans may think of his decision, it is crucial that we get behind the team.
I am confident that He will keep us up and sort out the bunch of under achievers.
The fact that he hasn't got Premiership experience, means nothing. His passion and energy will be most welcome and surely get us to safety.
To those fans who say they will boycott the club, don't come back, you are not true supporters and most don't attend the matches anyway.

Agree8 Disagree1

First the politics : There has never been nor will there ever be any place in football (or any sport) for politics; they do not mix. The lesson here for SAFC is that they should never have employed a politician and should never ever do so again.

Now the football : SAFC were going down under Bruce. MON saved the club from relegation - fact.
Sunderland are devoid of attacking ideas on the pitch. There is no movement off the ball and players confidence looks shot. After the Norwich game (and you could easily say earlier) it was obvious to anyone who has witnessed relegation that without a change, this team was going down.
Under MON we were going down - fact.

Now the question. Would be have employed Di Canio in the summer as a championship club?
Well we employed Roy Keane (no experience), and Derby employed Brian Clough (one season in the 4th division) - so yes of course we would. I only wish we'd given him 2 more weeks and done this after the Norwich game. In terms of his character and temperament it's the biggest premiership gamble ever!
In terms of motivating what we have for the battle ahead, it's a no brainer. We now have a sporting chance of avoiding the drop and just as importantly, a man in place to get us straight back up.
He will divide opinion but think on this. When Newcastle appointed Kinnear and then Pardew, they set a new high bar in making their fans feel underwhelmed.
I for one can't wait to see his influence take hold.
