I am reading some of the posts below and I think we the fans need to wake up a little bit here.

Our club in the 2013 / 2014 season posted a loss of £16m. I believe that this was due to our high wage bill throughout the club. I appreciate that this will probably include paying off manager contracts as we keep having to replace them!

Regardless of our fantastic support and stadium / academy facilities we are a club in the North East of England that will struggle to attract 'Big' name players. This is coupled with the new FFP rules meaning we also can not do a NUFC under Keegan the first time and pay silly fees and wages.

We are therefore in a position where we need to find a manager (actually I think the club are just after a coach and Congerton will manager the club) who can not only train the players to go out and play attacking and winning football, but one who has links and the appeal to persuade quality players to come to Sunderland.

I for one am struggling to name any manager / coach out there that would fit this criteria.

You mention Derby taking Paul Clement ahead of us. Of course he will. First time as a manager instead of assistant at a club where McClaren will have put infrastructure in place already. NO brainer to go to a lower division site to cut his teeth instead of a premier league side that has had 5 managers in four years.

Big Sam is football by numbers! He uses stats and figures to try and scout players and his coaching does tend to be direct and poor quality football. Personally I hope the club keep away from him.

Sean Dyche is again an untried manager. He did well to get Burnley promoted but then could not keep them up. Even though he is a young and upcoming English manager he would not be my choice as he does not have the 'Pull' to attract big name players to the club.

To conclude I have no recommendations as manager as at present there is no one out there who stands out. We as fans however need to realise this and stop slagging the club off. Whoever they appoint we need to back them 100% (as we always do to start with) and hope that Congerton can discard all of the deadwood in our squad and bring in some quality new signings.

It will be a long but very interesting summer ahead!
