Personnally I think a realistic target for January would be Cardiff City's Peter Whittingham. Creative, goal scoring midfielder. In his prime at 28, cant believe a Premier league side hasnt taken a punt on him?

Charlie Austin ( Burnley )
Thomas Ince ( Blackpool )
Wilfred Zaha ( Crystal Palace )

There are up and coming players out there. We find ourselves in a long standing rutt of defeatism because we continue to sign either ageing or relegated players. Players who's careers are on the downturn. It's not just a change in player quality we need, we also need a change in player mentality.

Wes Brown, John O'shea, Louis Saha, Carloss Cuellar & James Mcfadden- all ageing signings.

Kieran Westwood, Craig Gardner, Seb Larsson, David Vaughan & Steven Fletcher - All signed from relegated clubs.

Them 3 players you have just named are all wanted by bigger and better clubs! You's need to start looking in league 1 & 2

Haha, how'd your transfer targets pan out during the summer?

De jong, debuchy and douglas were done deals everyday according to their site. Safc93

Of the oldies you mention 3 are there purely as back up-2 of whom haven't actually played this season.2 Play week in week out-Them 2 happen to have been our best players(Only one team have conceded less goals). The players signed from relegated clubs, again where would we be without Fletcher. Gardner has played most games out of position in defence. Larsson hasn't been as good as last season. Again the others haven't played much. So I don't really see what your point is. Our poorest players this season have been MClean, Sess and Johnson. They are not old or from relegated teams. They are on a bad run of form and will get better. To bring out the Old and relegated thing is just lazy.

Some of the players mentioned isnt feasable paticualy the foreign ones ! as MON doesnt usual buy foreign players !...more chance of Elvis supporting Bon Jovi IN june at the SOL than that happening !

Agree1 Disagree0

How can you quote - Three of the oldies are only there as cover! Cover for who exactly? This is are squad, its wafer thin. We didnt even submit a full squad of 25 players to the Premier league.
Who's knocking on the door demanding to play? What has the Acadamey produced in 12 years? Who's a shoe in to start every week? Are best player so far this season is a youngster on loan from Tottenham and he's dropped him!

Where would we be without Fletcher? Have you looked at the league table, Where 5th bottom! How much worse can it get. We've registered 13 shots on target in 9 games, the worst in European football. The stats dont lie, take a look at the stats for the last 10 seasons because thats not good reading either! I assume thats the bad run of form you refer to? Had you forgotten the 15 point season and the 19 point season?

Put a decent squad of 25 players together from the players we've had in the last 10 seasons if you can? Theres nothing there, never has been!

Did you ever stop to think why the rest haven't played much....there crap!

Love how the geordies ramble on saying catts is a dirty player. Look at tiote 30 yellows in 60 games and has the highest card count in the prem since he arrived, almost twice as many cards at catts

Believable5 Unbelievable2

He was lucky not to be sent of at the SOL!

Agree1 Disagree4

He was sent off at the SOL

Agree4 Disagree1

They can larf..toite makes catts look like a saint !

Agree4 Disagree1

Problem with MON is he rarely buys foreign players ..and the better Premiership teams have a mix of foreign and home grown talent thats MONS problem too fixed !..id give him more time but will the Sunderland fathful give him that time !

Agree1 Disagree0

We need a creative midfielder and a goal poacher and maybe a younger quality centre half and I think we will be ok, only a matter of time before we start picking up results but can't see us getting anything at everton
