Not impressed if reports are true and Connor Wickham wants to move to another club. I did think he would of kicked on from last season and have good year with us. Alas he is just another big head who thinks he's a class player because of the six game spell at the end of last season. Get as much money as possible for him and forget about Borini and sign players who want to play for our great club! Moussa Sow would do me.

{Ed024's Note - I'm not certain he wants to go, but if we can get anywhere near £8M - happy days.}

i wish the club would be honest and come out with what's going on with his contract! . some reports say hell sign some not some even say he hasn't as yet been offered one whatever the situation the club needs to say what's going on!

You are not alone- why is it that we are hearing nothing about the Wickham situation from the club- nor anything sensible about endless Borini saga- but have been treated Rodwell's views on everything? I can understand a certain reticence when we are trying to negotiate with potential recruits, but stories in the public domain as long as Wickham's and Borini's have been merit some explanation from the club, while Rodwell would do well to keep his mouth shut for a while and do some 'talking' on the pitch first Whoever manages publicity for the club pay attention- keep the fans informed and stop players from airing views that may leave them looking very silly.

There seems to be a secrecy around the inner workings of this club nowdays and the fans are kept in the dark! when Lord Quinn was here everything was transparent and the fans knew how much we had to spend which direction the club was going etc etc we were kept in touch!. with this lot its like MI5!. wish Quinn was still here!

I must have missed where Rodwell has been spouting off as all I have heard him say is he came to SAFC to get first team football and to win back his England place.

The rest was advice to young players saying thing about playing time ahead of money!

As for Wickham I agree the club should release an official statement either saying that have offered him an improved contract and don't want to sell or that they want to sell at the right price. That would sort that out quite quickly.

And Borini, yes him again, everyone knows we have had a bid accepted and offered terms so it is down to him to decide. Me personally I would tell him sign by close of business tomorrow or we pull our offer and go elsewhere

Problem as I see it with Borini is two-fold. Firstly as I said the other he has never asked to leave Liverpool and he will want a pay-off as compensation. I cannot blame him for that however the second problem is that even if he was to sign for Sunderland this very minute he still has this shoulder injury that would rule him out for the WBA game so I am minded to think why should SAFC pay his wages.Let Liverpool pick up the tab till he is fit.

Heard from the hottest sauce in town. Micah Richards to sign for around £5m

{Ed024's Note - Must be Vindaloo}

No It was my Phal- I mean Pal

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope your right because he's 16/1 on

Agree5 Disagree0

. or maybe Piri-Piri

Agree3 Disagree0

I guess you meant 16/1 on . Not 1/16 on. Well let's hope we do sign someone hot.

Agree1 Disagree0

He is now 10/1 after being 28/1 this morning

Agree4 Disagree0

Richards should be priority at the moment. he can play RB and CB very well and makes a convincing LB if need be.

Then go after Dawson who looks increasingly likely to leave. only issue here would be having to deal with fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff Daniel Levy again.

then go after a winger/striker. At this point after the debacle with a certain Italian and excessive rumours about Scott Sinclair, Cristian Rodriguez etc. I've ran out of effort to care which signs.

Agree9 Disagree0

Why don't we send Pantilimon, Rodwell and Johnson to the Etihad and get them to pick up all of Man City's second XI; Richards, Sinclair, Milner and maybe the young Argentinian lad on loan and we're set!

Agree4 Disagree1

Betting odds gone down again to 7/2
for him to sign. my 16/1 looking good. any 1 else get a bet on?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sund now fav to sign him. can jcfulwell be spot on??

Ed's. I am ok with midfield and even up front if we retain CW but very concerned about CB's

Back 4 at present is: -

RB Vergini
CB JOS
CB Brown
LB PVA

That only leaves Jones and probably Roberge at this stage as cover.

Do you know of any 'Strong / Legit' rumours for any CB's??

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed024's Note - No, but your dead right we need a Micah Richards or a Johnny Evans}

A month ago I would have said Jonny Evans was a realistic possibility however it seems he has found favour with LVG and I read he was even being touted as the new MUFC Captain.

Buckley and Chadli? So in the end we are still looking to the Championship and at Premier flops to strengthen the side-not much to fire the imagination there then! And where are the centre-backs we need- surely we can't be banking on getting to January with only Brown and O'Shea?

Believable5 Unbelievable10

Funny how we always seem to sign players who are considered flops. but how many leave Sunderland as flops. eg. Vito Manonne. the amount of reports I saw last year referring to him as a flop was ridiculous. same with Bent, Borini, darren ward, Mignolet. funny how none of them leave as "flops".

Being a Tottenham flop is one of the better recommendations I can think of!

Wasn't chadli a starter in Belgium team for world cup?

Agree5 Disagree3

11 Aug 2014 11:55:45
He did start the first World Cup game-but was subbed at half time and did not reappear. And although he averaged almost a goal every three games in Belgium his return last year was a solitary strike in 24 league appearances for Spurs- not exactly an upward trajectory. Perhaps he is a Borini or a Bent in the making, but he seems equally likely to be a Chimbonda or Tainio. If we are looking to sign a player from Spurs, it should be Dawson.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - Chadli is a midfielder, he can play central or on the wing, but goalscoring isn't the main reason you would want him.}

SEE West Ham have put a £5 million bid in for Wickham?. you have to be joking Sam this isn't the summer sales!. we shouldn't accept a Penny less than the £8 million we paid for him and only after we've signed another 2 strikers!

Agree3 Disagree1

11 Aug 2014 12:41:34
Why do we need more wingers? we have Larsson Mavaris Johnson Watmore and many others we need strikers . its pointless crossing the ball for no one to convert them . in any case we always play better with 2 strikers up front otherwise where are the goals coming from!

Agree5 Disagree3

11 Aug 2014 15:02:03
See West Hams Bid Has been rejected!. apparently it was around £4 million . I bet the fax to West Ham just said!. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha lol!

Agree4 Disagree0

We need good quality wingers due to Poyet only playing one striker, be that Altidore, Fletcher or Wickham (though he can play on the wings with some competency) atm, they're only as good as the service they get and while I expect the younger players will get shots due to injuries/fatigue we need solid and experienced.

There really is no point getting any more out and out strikers unless Altidore or Fletcher goes & we need a replacement.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Aug 2014 17:33:30
Disagree Wyndrusher as everytime we've played with 2 strikers we've looked much better balanced and more likely to score and of course these wingers will have to score goals apart from Johnson alst season no other winger scored many!. Fletch will do the buisness if he's kept fit!. but I think every squad needs 4 good strikers as suspensions injuries take there toll in a season!

Agree1 Disagree2

I agree we do play better 4-4-2, however poyet doesn't like it & only resorts to it when injuries/fitness force it, so as it stands having forwards who can play on the wings & wingers who can fill in as fowards is more important due to how he plays.

Darren Ward? Now there's a name from the past. Far from excelling himself when he left Sunderland AFC he actually RETIRED from the game due to a persistent back injury.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough robbiegee. but did he retire a flop?
