As of 10. 30pm Richards is even money to join Newcastle. His agent is talking to quite a few clubs. Asking for a lot of money.

I really was beginning to think we might be getting him; would have been a great buy I think

Agree1 Disagree2

Adam, Jack, Pants. get on to him and tell not to go there!

Agree2 Disagree1

Lets still hope he fancies being with us. The mags will be tempting him with mega wages from the Debuchy sale to Arsenal.

Agree1 Disagree4

He is now 1/2 to join Newcastle. However, it does not take much money on a certain bookmaker to make odds tumble. He could go anywhere.

Why won't the club just identify and target two experienced CBs? We missed out on Lescott and Caulker- please don't let Dawson, Richards, Van Dijk get away- recognise we have very poor defence that conceded more goals than any other team that stayed up (bar one) and strengthen the area where we are weakest.

I'm so happy with the Will Buckley signing I think he'll adapt to the premier league quickly, along with Johnson on other wing. We 've got some pace in the side this season

He reminds me of former player Don Hutchinson and if he can replicate his Brighton form he'll do well! and we have a history of classic wingers including Clive Walker and Alan Johnston so I hope he does well. good signing!

Buckley scored the goal that knocked newcastle out of the FA cup so already a Sunderland hero!

Agree11 Disagree2

Can I ask how he reminds you of Don Hutchison because from what I have seen he plays nor looks anything like him. Its like saying Altidore reminds me of Archie Gemill

Agree3 Disagree1

Was Don Hutchinson ever a classic winger?

Ive Heard Borini wants to come here but on loan!. i'd take that!. we are also after FC Brugges Costa Rican defender Oscar Duarte who apparantly scores a few goals for a defender!

Right let's get a few thing straight as far as I see it!

Townsend will not come to Sunderland ans Spurs would want big money can you remember the money they wanted for Hutton?

Dawson and richards we should fight tooth and nail to get this would be great business and like the Rodwell signing raise our profile for future transfer windows to build on.

Borini I truly believe he wanted to fight for his place which you can't blame the lad! but as Liverpool need to sign more forwards before they let Borini go it was always going to take time. and I believe he will score big playing with a fit again fletcher up front! keep conner and altidore as replacements but need better next year.

Giaccarini needs to improve to show us why he was in the Italian squad but hopefully with a season under his belt he will.

As for Owen saying Newcastle will do well and sunderland relegation fight!!! well we all know he has got to be one of the worst football pundits since Trevor Francis! Ha Way the Lads With just Richards and Borini in we will be ok but with Dawson as well I would be a very happy man!!!

Borini will be an excellent acquisition. His work rate was excellent last season and if we can provide better service he will get plenty of goals. Fans should get behind the player and at least make him feel he is wanted. I for one can't wait for him to sign and am looking forward to an exciting campaign. I'm sure he'll sign soon.

I think Borini would be welcomed here its just the size of the fee that's the problem for most Sunderland fans and whether he wants to come here!

Agree8 Disagree2

{Ed024's Note - Fee doesn't bother me so much, just not convinced he wants to be here.}

He has never said he doesn't want to come here. Liverpool knew they were selling Suarez and even though they accepted our offer, it was always on the understanding that they bought a replacement. If they don't sign "lets say eto" then Borini will not be released. He had to go to USA as Liverpool wanted him to be part of THEIR pre season in case they could not get another forward in. That's my take on it anyway.

Well put JC

Anyone heard any more on the Moussa Sow deal?

I've heard a roomer we are looking into Jay Rodrigues from Saints if Borini deal fails / Wickham ends up leaving.

So borini for 14 million or welbeck for a similar amount, I would go with dw, if hull can afford him why can't we?

Believable5 Unbelievable4

{Ed024's Note - Cant see Welbeck going to Hull, unless LVG wants to really shake things up I think he'll be staying at Utd}
