Ok Then

I have seen and been part of a couple of posts (one has now been deleted) where Ed 002 has taken offence to us the fans (in his words) being disrespectful to the club and players.

From me personally my posts have been constructive and my own opinions rather than outright 'slagging off' the club and players.

We all know that our squad is oversized with players who have not cut the premier league grade. Our policy of overpaying slightly means that other clubs won't match the wages and therefore these players don't want to leave. We are therefore in the dreaded never ending circle where we can't revamp the squad properly without making a massive financial loss.

Coupled with this, the players who are of sufficient premier league stature, are very low on confidence so performance levels have dropped. Again, the never ending circle effect where we need to win a few matches, keeping clean sheets and our strikers scoring goals.

We also have, as per my previous posts, a core of longer serving players who may or may not be manipulating the squad from within.

I therefore just want to ask Ed 002 what his genuine thoughts are on the quality of our first team squad and how many of our last starting line up would he keep and how may he would transfer list and try to move on from the club? Also, how many players not in the starting line up would he promote to play?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - There are some very good and very committed players in the squad but it needs work - and there are players who need to show how good they can be (Jordi Gomez is a very good player who needs to sort himself out). Again M'Vila can do a lot for the club. But the defence still needs work - Coates was a poor buy, Brown's time has come, Jones has not impressed that much, Matthews won't set the world alight. If Kaboul can stay clear of these knee injuries and settle in the team he will be a very good addition. Yedlin is well thought of at home - but it is too early to tell if he has a future in the EPL. And the strikers are not working out - I think Defoe would probably be best coming on from the bench once another striker comes in. Graham is completely unconvincing and doesn't get the goal. Borini runs hot and cold but again doesn't get the goals. Fletcher works hard and is probably the pick of the bunch right now. The club need to look for a proven striker in January and perhaps an additional central defender. I imagine the manager will look to Kevin Nolan to help out in midfield. Priority will be to stay up.}

Mainly fair assessment there Ed.

I agree Jones is what I would call a 'Plodder' Nothing bad but nothing great. He is however better than PVA at this time so he would start LB for me unless they promote young Robson from the U21's.

Yedlin has good attacking attributes but as you state time will tell if he can defend as well.

Brown was a strange contract renewal. If he isn't in line to start any matches we could have saved money there. I can however see that we had not back up so he was needed in case of injuries.

I agree about Coates simply not being good enough and also about Kaboul. He has been criticised but he was left open massively back lack of cover from PVA and the DCM's in front.

Gomez for me is too slow all round. He has had too many bad games for me where he can not pass, slows the counter attack pace down, can't tackle and so on so he fits into the Coates bracket for me.

Graham just isn't good enough. Good work ethic but quality and talent simply isn't there. Borini has another great work ethic but needs to play in the same position and same formation every week to score goals. Fletcher has confidence at the minute so could come good. Defoe is like Borini where he needs the right formation to work for him.

Me personally would not like Nolan here, too old and not being kept by West Ham tells you everything you need to know.

LB, CB and quality Striker needed in Jan and I would maybe recall Pickford in goal until Costel can learn to kick, distribute the ball faster and start coming off his line again to catch crosses and corners.

I do not think we are far off winning games. If we can sort out the defence I think we will score goals and confidence is everything!

The youth situation is getting worse we are willing to loan out Watmore with a year left on his contract and well be giving him away for nothing the same with Pickford! why can't this club recognize we can't go on ignoring the youth talent at this club and it looks as if Big Sam is another one doing the same! . we never learn from our mistakes at this club! if the likes of Spurs and Manchester United recognize Pickford as a future England goalkeeper why doesn't this club? another example of lack of vision and a blinkered approach to the young players!
