Sunderland to step up their pursuit of Luis Pedro Cavanda from Lazio now that the Peruzzi deal is a non starter. Close to agreeing fee with Valencia for Cissokho, but think player would prefer Liverpool, who want to loan him, Valencia would rather sell. And according to some whispers I heard today Sunderland might also put in a bid for Adebayor of Spurs as well as Huddlestone. Just what I heard, Don't shoot the messanger.

Believable2 Unbelievable9

{Ed024's Note - Tell me who mentioned Adebayor and I'll go and shoot him.}

Didnt Cavanda just sign a new deal, 4 yrs, with Lazio?And peruzzi deal on 'hold', not quite done yet. Ed, i'll get the gun for you!

Agree12 Disagree0

Cavanda has stated that he's signing a new contract.

Agree8 Disagree0

I would definitely have adabayor get his head right and he is a class act don't think PDC could cope with him like

Agree4 Disagree2

{Ed030's Note - Think of the wages mate,He would smash Sunderland wage record nearly doubling it. }

Not sure he's the type of forward we want, he's forever hanging around the half way line and like today miles away from most of the action especially around the 18 yard box where he shines. If spurs manager still can't get him playing where he should be, I'd not want to see the fines from our boss after each game lol

Peruzzi deal has just been put on hold when di canio said there's no point in him joining us he means for the asia trophy should complete the deal when were back also looking promising for cissokho

Believable8 Unbelievable1

{Ed024's Note - Looks to me that, unless the fee is reduced to compensate for the risk, the deal is off.}

Insurance could be astronomical

Agree4 Disagree0

I think he will still be our player, think paulo has been mis-quoted by the press as usual

Agree5 Disagree1

Ed I've been through a lot of sites on the internet to see if I can find out what di canio said about Peruzzi as the interview I saw on sky the lad wasn't mentioned. all the media are stating that the story has come from the sunderland echo how reliable are they as they are also the ones who started the alfie rumours off. also there has been no confirmation either from peruzzis club about the deal being called off. I find this story a bit strange with all the sky reporters being out there to cover the game and yet they are relaying something back which comes from the echo. any idea mate as I was looking forward to this deal more than the others we have completetd or mentioned with

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed024's Note - If the deal hadn't hit a significant issue it would be done by now. I think PDC will only pursue the deal if it is less risky - would imagine a loan is a possibility, but other than that only a reduction in the fee (and a significant one) will keep the deal alive.}

Until its confirmed by the club the deal is on as far as I'm concerned for the club not to say anything is very strange

Agree3 Disagree2

What about a loan deal say for 6 to 12 months for Peruzzi and see if he proves his fitness!. his club would probbaly get at least a million and it would suit all 3 parties?

Agree2 Disagree1

Ellis Short is back from holiday this week!. I think hell negotiate some compromize!

Peruzzi deal off - Paolo has said he will not be signing due to failed medical

Believable10 Unbelievable2

Well that is why you conduct thorough medicals I suppose. Can't wait to hear who he really wants to sign at RB

Agree4 Disagree1

If this deal is off we have moved from one fullback (spare part anyway) and a loanee to no fullbacks. If we start the season with Gardner and Colback playing there then for all Di Canio's wheeling and dealing he has failed to address one of the main problems we have faced for two years now. Come, new scouting team, address the problem.

Agree5 Disagree1

I am sure they will. This shows the importance of moving early in the window as we have. Imagine this happening in a few weeks time?

Agree2 Disagree0

TBH apart from last season we have always struggled to find a solid LB. Safc93

Agree1 Disagree0

Look, the SS website yesterday said it was close to completion, now it states PDC says it is not so which story do you believe. Unless SS have a video clip of PDC saying this then I personally will just wait until a signing happens.

I am agreed however that we are struggling full stop to find either RB or LB and these are key to our success this season.

Agree2 Disagree0

Why not try and sign nedum onouha from qpr yes he's a centre back but can play anywhere across the back. He was great for us in 2011 and was motm on more than one occassion.

Agree1 Disagree4

The lad has passed a 2nd medical with one of the best doctors in that sphere saying the old injury will only improve with fitness. we were getting a player who is being tipped as one of the best young right backs in the world not for 15 or 20 mill but only 3.3mill. yet pdc states he won't be coming because we are not a man city and we can give the lad a couple of months to get fit. if that's not bad business I don't know what is this lad will move on with his career show the potential what is expected and will end up at one of the best teams in spain or Italy. sometimes in life you need to take gambles and to me this is one that we should have taken. and before any mags have a dig i'm sure demba ba showed whu Newcastle and chelsea fans what stoke missed out on

Agree7 Disagree2

Obviously we don't know the full extent of what the two medicals have shown, nor do we know what the personal terms agreed amounted to but, on the face of it, a very talented, 22-year old Argentinian international for just over £3M seems a gamble worth taking to me. How many games has he missed since his injury?

Could we not look at changing personal terms to mitigate the risk a little and still try and get him?

I think we're missing a bit of a gem here.

Agree6 Disagree1

Pdc have stated in an interview we will not be signing peruzzi due to his injury we need players to hit the ground running not ones we have to wait on

Agree1 Disagree1

Wow you can read SS articles as well. Has anyone seen a video of this interview?

Agree1 Disagree0

I thought PDC didn't have the final say in transfers?. could be more mileage in this story!. i'd sign him for a reduced fee take a chance!. look at Fletch he still isn't back to training yet!

Agree2 Disagree0

Cant understand why we can't sign full backs as other teams in the premiership have!

Agree1 Disagree2

I think we will get two or three more signings, probably two fullbacks, and we still have a whole month and a week to negotiate with many more, we should chillax.

Agree0 Disagree0

Now di canio is saying signing peruzzi is too risky? Are we signing him or what?

Believable5 Unbelievable3

No, di canio said the deal is off.

If Alfie is leaving, is it to make way for Huddleston? I would'nt be surprised if something is announced after the game. Maybe rose too! or just wishfull thinking? Only a thought lads!

Believable1 Unbelievable8

Rose is stopping at spurs. mind every player has his price and a big bid in with the Nadye money coming in might move something!

Realistically who can we expect to be our main left back of the season to be? we need power, aggression and speed.

And also I am kind of expecting the insigne deal to close even if it happens in a few weeks. Paulo will get his man!

Believable3 Unbelievable3

I think we will get insigne because I think he will have a lack of games

and your description of a LB fits danny rose but need to add attacking content

Agree4 Disagree6

Danny rose staying at spurs colback will start season at lb aand we will never get insigne GET OVER IT!!

Agree5 Disagree3

Insigne isn't a left back, I'd hope orban might make up his mind if not trust Paulo and his scouting team to find a gem

Agree1 Disagree1

If sunderland and Liverpool are in talks with cissoko then if we get him that's a left back but if he goes to Liverpool then why not go for Enrique. ?

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed052's Note - Cissokho would be to add competition, and not replace Enrique. Maybe you'd like Robinson instead?}

Robinson is actually a very good player.

Agree0 Disagree2

Liverpool are after cissokho on loan let's get in their get him out right come on sunderland

ED, with it looking likely that vaughn, catts, alfie and possibly larrson leaving who do you think we will be playing in the centre come the start of next season?

G

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed024's Note - Cabral looks a certainty - be interesting to see who Pdc puts in the centre with him for the Hong Kong games.}

The training coaches really like Cabral
"Solid"
"Good on ball"
"Confident grafter"

Agree5 Disagree0

Alfie won't leave, HOPEFULLY larsson will, bardsleys gone to fulham, vaughan will probably leave and catts wasnt given a squad no.

Agree1 Disagree1

No ones got a number yet

Agree2 Disagree1

David moberge karlsson is number 18
